The Scenery With a Craving

Ah, this was it. It was just like her first day at the academy. Meet a young lad in an instant and kick it off quick. It was a pleasant feeling, one she likes to experience time and time again. The nice ones were the sort of people Savannah enjoyed being around the most, it was their tolerance that appealed to her. Also modesty was a favourable trait she liked. The fox pressed herself a little further into Evan, her feet touching his.

"Tease me too much and I will not know whether you are playing with me or not." She replied. "But for now I do not mind." Her tails slowly drifted side to side, lightly brushing the decking of the peer. Savannah would never tell anyone, but this was the sort of attention she adored. It was close to the companionship she had with others on her travels, that was a long time ago though. In recent years travelling came to a halt, instead she settled down in areas for periods of time.

Savannah shook for the briefest of moments. "Perhaps it might be time to change into something less damp."

<div align=center>Evan looked down at her, "surely," he lifted an eyebrow and pricked his ears forward, "a fox as sly and as cunning as yourself would be a far better tease than the lowly stag?" He purred, after all, the vixen was known for her artful mind and her crafty nature, the stag for his bravery and for his power. "I may wear a crown of ivory, my fair lady, but you have a beautiful cloak of gold." He murmured, of course referring to Savannah's tails. He liked them, he thought they were wonderful, partly because he'd never seen anything like it, and partly because they really were rather pretty.

He wondered how old the girl was, she didn't look all that much older than himself, perhaps around the same age. He nodded at her statement, "perhaps that would be a good idea," he returned, "it'd be awful if you got sick because I kept you out here talking all this time," he patted her shoulder softly, almost in an affectionate sort of way. "Though perhaps you wouldn't mind if I walked back with you?" He asked, he was enjoying her company, he didn't want to see her go just yet.</div>

She rested the side of her head into his shoulder. "You speak as if you are below me." She commented with gentle sigh. Though his compliments did light up a small fire in her, it was a nostalgic feeling. He was right however, she was sly and perhaps cunning. Sometimes all she wanted was the attention, that feeling of being noticed. No matter how patronising, as long as they saw her that's all that mattered.

"Sick? It'll take a plague to put me down." Savannah protested. It was likely she could come down with a cold later on, but that's when she'll curl up in her dorm and wait for it to pass. "Mind I do not, peek you shall not." Her words came out lightly. Savannah slid out of his embrace and took some steps away from him.

"Shall we?"

<div align=center>Evan shrugged, chances were that's exactly what he thought. He perhaps didn't think of himself all that highly, the antlered-boy was working on that though, he was trying to tell himself that a healthy mind meant a healthy body, and to some extent it was helping. He smiled gently at the girl, studying her for a moment or two, she was pretty and there was a fox-like sort of charm about her, one he rather liked. The thought made him blush a little, and force out a short, awkward trail of laughter. Of course, Evan was just a little too naive to ever patronize, his compliments were genuine more often than not.

"I don't doubt that," he returned, on the whole he was the same, if something needed doing he'd do it, regardless of the conditions. Evan was a perfectionist, everything had to be done to the finest detail, regardless of what it was, everything from school work down to the way he dressed. This was partly the reason he perhaps didn't respect himself as much as he respected other people, he hadn't yet reached perfection in his head, but it was something he was striving towards, and desperately wanted. Mind I do not, peek you shall not. The boy laughed, "of course not." He whimpered softly at the loss of contact when she moved away, though never said anything about it. "We shall."</div>

A little hum came from the fox, deciding whether he was being genuine or not about peeking. If anything Savannah was very much shameless of her body, it did not embarrass her in the slightest. It was just a human initiative that she wore clothes, also they felt nice to wear. "Very well." She said nodding her head once.

Her feet began to slowly trace themselves away off the peer. "Evan, was it?" She spoke recalling his name to remind herself. "Tell me of yourself. I am sure you have a tale or two to share?" Savannah put forward. The idea of utter silence during travel was something she was not fond of, so at every opportunity to strike topic she will. Even if it's something as simple as this.

<div align=center>In reality Evan perhaps wouldn't have objected to peeking (in a completely non-creepy sort of way,) but his morale told him that it perhaps wasn't the right thing to do. He was used to the thought of girls not enjoying certain intrusions. He considered her question for a moment, trying to recall some strange story from his childhood, he too disliked the idea of silence, silence with Evan tended to be awkward, though he liked to listen to other people rather than talk about himself, he didn't find himself all that interesting, whether he was or not. Evan was very much used to other disregarding what he said, it was a surprise for someone to ask him about himself.

"Well," he paused, scratching his ear, "the town I grew up in was very quiet," he nodded, it was a pretty little place and he always tried to remember it fondly, even though some nasty things had happened to him there, he tried to forget them, it wasn't good for the human mind to remain bitter about the past for so many years. "There used to be a little orchard near my grandma's house," he laughed, "I used to climb the trees and pick apples there, there was a pig that lived there, he'd always chase you if he saw you." Evan let out a short, boyish giggle at the thought of it, "me and my little sister had to run away from him once, we nearly didn't make it over the wall in time."</div>

Savannah walked on with her hands tied together behind her back, all while paying heed to Evan's story. It may not be the most extravagant tale to be told but she felt it fit his character, that alone allowed her to smile. "A sister, how fortunate. From the sounds of it you two are close? She guessed. The fox wouldn't know about having siblings, as far as she knew she was the only child. "Perhaps that is something I envy, perhaps." Her ears twitched and rubbed her arms up and down.

Her head down cast slightly trying to picture a brother or sister of her own. That was another thing, when was the last time she met one of her own kind? So long that she couldn't remember.

"I suppose my family would those whom I share my companionship with." She said as if to reassure herself, throwing in a nod of the head for good measure. A family and home in a life of travel was difficult to come by, so your family and home was where and who you make it with.

<div align=center>Evan had been close with his sister, a small, sad smile crossed his face to think about it. The girl had always giggled and wanted to touch his antlers rather than laughing at him and treating him like a misfit. He had always thanked her for that, though she'd always been too young to understand, "I was, yeah." The boy sighed lightly, shaking his head, the thought made him feel just a little melancholy, it was a strange feeling for Ev, he didn't often feel sad about things, he didn't have time for feeling sad. Though, it made him feel just a little worse that seemingly Savannah had never known the company of a sibling, it was a good kind of company, like a best friend you could never get rid of, or fall out with.

"That's a nice way to look at things," he returned quietly, close friendships weren't something Evan had ever experienced really, he'd had a best friend a long time ago, but she'd grown up and the two had grown apart, but Evan just supposed that was the way things went sometimes, you couldn't prevent it and you couldn't change it. "It's nice to be able to appreciate the things you have," he mused, "it's a good quality for a person to own."</div>

Was? That was a past pre-tense was it not? Now that Savannah thought about it Evan would not be able to see his sister, that's right. They were separated now weren't they? Savannah did not know what sort of a face to pull, so she held a stoic look. She's never had to call anyone a brother or sister, so she could only imagine what that would be like.

Savannah hummed softly. She skipped ahead of Evan and spun to face him. Her head tilted to the side slightly, she then nodded shortly afterwards. "Yes, it is." She agreed her eyes averted away from him. His words served as a reminder of her prolonged life, the fact she will out live those who she meets. It was one of the few reasons why she travelled, other than she enjoyed travelling. Savannah would meet many people and move on, but sometimes she'll meet one person and stick around.

To stay with a single person became a mental obstacle to climb. Not only did she have to find that person desirable but also the foreseeable future. It is a defence mechanism that only got worse through time, one that prevents her getting close to individuals she enjoys being with. Of course this problem was all to do with ageing.

"Yes, it is." She repeated. "It is also a dangerous quality, at least in my position." With that Savannah slowly turned on her heel to continue.

"My, it feels if the wind has a violent nip to it." She quickly spoke as if to digress from the previous topic.

<div align=center>Evan paused when she stopped, and smiled a little. He couldn't help but wondering what she meant by it was a dangerous quality, he shook it off, perhaps it wasn't anything to worry about. He wondered again how old she was, though he didn't ask the question, he often felt rude doing so, regardless of whether it was or not. He glanced to her as she spoke again, and nodded, winter had drawn in and Evan thought that it was going to snow soon. He was fond of the snow, it gave everything a serene sort of feel that he rather enjoyed. He got the feeling that he might have upset Savannah, and suddenly felt a pang of guilt rattle through him, though he couldn't have said why.

"Perhaps it would be wise to proceed to your room." He suggested, giving a mellow sort of shrug. There was no doubt that she was feeling the cold moreso than he was, she was still soaked, the wind tended to bite at you more when you were wet, Evan had fallen through the ice of a lake one winter, he had been so cold he'd thought he was going to freeze up completely, luckily that hadn't been the case. "I think it's a good idea for you to change clothes."</div>
