Splash! Splosh!

"Curses!" She hissed to herself. Her arms retracted from the water once again.

What was happening? It was quite a welcoming day to begin with, with little clouds dotted about the sky it turned out to be a warm early afternoon. The School's lake look rather calm and soothing from the sunlight's reflection, except for the ripples caused by a certain fox woman.

Savannah was laid on her front at the edge of a peer, her head and arms hanging over the edge of the walkway. Her position was a little odd to look at, not that sure knew of course. Her mind was too busy occupied on the task at hand. Once she knew of the fish life in the lake she was determined to seize one for herself. However the school does not permit fishing, again she did not know this.

Waiting patiently for the next time to strike her tails would flutter and twitch across her legs in anticipation. All while occasionally licking her lips. Her arms bent and rested by her side, ready to lunge out on the next fish that were to pass by. It was a waiting game now.

<div align=center>Evan's ears pricked forward at the sound, surely someone wasn't swimming? He blinked, and lifted his eyes from his book. It was warm for October, and he was making the most of it, he folded down the corner of his page, and closed the book, stretching his arms above his head and yawning softly. It took a moment for him to push himself up, his legs felt numb from sitting on them, he cursed himself mentally for doing so. It was too cold for swimming, he didn't know anyone that crazy. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans and stared out across the lake, his eyes scanning the horizon, he didn't know what the time was, but judging by the position of the sun, late afternoon.

The sound came again, his brow furrowed and his ears flicked up again. The gentle breeze tugged at his hair softly, blowing the Jay's feather tied to his left antler around a little. His gaze focused in on something he deemed a little strange, what is she doing? He wondered if she was the source of the splashing sounds, his suspicions were soon confirmed when he realized what she was doing. If she's not careful she's gonna... He shook his head, and watched her for a while longer, there was something unusual about the girl and it took him a moment or two to realize what that was.

She had a tail. No, tails. A look of slight awe crossed the boy's face, he'd never seen anyone else with a tail, no one except for him, and this strange girls tails were far more magnificent than the stubby deer's tail protruding from his lower back.</div>

From her patience a arm size fish waved it's way closer to the peer, the ends of the foxes tails flinched in excitement. It just had to come a little closer, closer...

Her hands curled into a claw like shape, just when she thought when it was right she dived her hands into the water once more. The water kicked up and splashed into her face. This time she caught hold of it, without wasting time she pulled it out the water. For a moment she smelt victory, that was until she realised the resistance the fish was putting up. Her arms shook over the place battling for control. The fight lasted mere seconds, the fish slimmed it's way out her grip. In a last attempt to sleaze the prize Savannah kicked her legs to lean further over the peer. She lunged an arm to grab the tail.

She missed by a scratch.

"Huh?" She exclaimed. Before she could react she found herself tipping over the edge. Her expression dropped immensely and began to flail. As if it mattered, her face met the cold water and quick enough so did her whole body. Submerged under the water she felt the chilling effects of her failure to capture a meal.

A moment later she surfaced with a gasp followed by quick pants. She spun herself round and latched onto the peer edge. "Brrrr..." She uttered out, visibly shaking from the cold. Her ears were drooped and eyes were wide.

<div align=center>Evan's eyes widened suddenly as a much louder splash met his ears, there had been a commotion between the tailed-girl and a rather large fish, he didn't really know what she was trying to do, but all within a few seconds she had vanished off the edge of the peer, and disappeared beneath the surface of the lake. He blinked once, before breaking into a small run, is she okay? He slowed to a stop before the edge of the peer (he didn't really want to end up in the same position) and leaned over, his soft, dark doe eyes meeting the crimson ones of the girl that had fallen into the water, his ears pricked forward suddenly, his eyes zipped up to look at the pair of ears on the top of her head, they resembled those of a fox, much like her tails had.

The boy crouched down, and extended a hand out toward her, offering to help her out. "Are... Are you alright?" He asked her softly, eyebrows furrowing slightly. She was pretty, and her face made Evan smile. It must have been cold in there, it wouldn't have been nice for her to get sick. "Do you want some, uh.. Help?" He stammered, shooting her a small, nervous sort of smile. His tail wagged a little behind him as he leaned over, and the feather tied to his antler dropped in front of his face.</div>

If she had been paying more attention she would have noticed the boy running towards her. At the sound of his voice she gazed to towards him. What was the lad saying of all things? Still, it was rather sweet to look at. Savannah forced out a cracked laugh, she found it to be a rather ethereal setting.

"A young knight spots a maiden in distress and gallantly strides to her side." She narrated as her hand snaked up to rest in his own. Unlike her own, his hand was warm. If she was feeling mischievous she would pull him in with her, but that was only something she did to well known colleagues.

She began to pull slightly and sleepy rise out the water using the boy's arm and peers edge for support. "It appears I have made a complete fool of myself." She sheepishly commented with a half toothy grin.

<div align=center>Evan took a moment or two to help the girl out of the water, she wasn't all that heavy so it really wasn't all that much of a challenge. He felt a little bad for her, it wasn't all that warm today and the lake must have been about three times as cold. He frowned ever so slightly, "what were you doing?" He asked softly, a hint of laughter carried within his voice, it had been funny to watch, dare he think. The poor girl was soaked, merely looking at her made Evan shiver, he didn't think he'd have called himself a knight, but he wasn't going to argue about it, instead, he just smiled and laughed softly.

His ears dropped backward, "you must be freezing." He frowned ever so slightly and his tail drooped. He generally became concerned for others if he thought they were at risk of something bad happening to them, in this case, he was a little worried that the girl was going to get sick. Evan was far too nice for his own good, though he supposed it was better to be like that than bitter and horrible, he liked helping people, though he was perhaps just a tad naive. </div>

She stood in front of Evan with her arms hugging her frame, the water dripping off all over her. Savannah looked up to him, his question had good intentions she believed. It was obvious he had saw what happened, how embarrassing. With a shiver she tossed her head away. "I was feeling peckish." She muttered. Part of her wanted to go back and try again, but her self-esteem has already suffered enough for one day. A small sigh escaped her mouth.

"Yes, quite." She answered to confirm. With a quick glance behind her Savannah raised her tails and then whipped them up and down several times. Water sprayed behind her leaving her tails looking rather unkempt. "And you must be warm?" Savannah mused taking a step closer to Evan.

"Ah!" She blurted out in surprise. Her face arched up to the taller boy, "I do believe I have to right to know the name of my saviour, hmm? Her cheeks rose up with her smile, it was cut short from a vigorous shiver.

<div align=center>Evan supposed that was a valid enough reason, he'd been to great lengths as a child to pick apples from an orchard close to his grandmother's house, he'd broken his arm falling from one of the trees, his mother had yelled at him. He smiled a little at the memory, he missed his family sometimes. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers brushing briefly across the smooth bone of the base of one of his antlers, he paused for a moment frowning to himself and considering something in his head for a moment, his tail twitched again, he shrunk back a little when she had sprayed water everywhere, reluctant to get wet himself.

His hands drifted to the material of his scarf, he pushed two fingers underneath it and unraveled it from his neck. He shuffled forward a few inches and proceeded to slowly wrap the girl up in it. He then unbuttoned his coat and draped it around her shoulders, doing the first toggle up so it wouldn't fall off. "Not anymore," he joked, laughing softly, he shook his head a little, "I'm kidding." He added, his voice a little quieter this time. "My.. My name?" He tilted his head to one side, his eyes flickering down to meet hers, "it's Evan," he answered, a nervous smile crossing his features.</div>

When she looked back to up him she caught sight of the scarf being wrapped around her. Her head lowered and she sniffed into the scarf deeply, it definitely smelled of him and it was warm. Her shoulders felt the weight of the coat that was put on, she glanced up once again, now her body was sheltered from the outside. Savannah couldn't help but titter with Evan at his humour.

"Evan." She repeated to herself with lazy eyes. "Young Warrior." She said. It was a celtic meaning of the name, others followed a similar approach. The fox smiled to herself, he didn't look like a fighter with such a gentle face. However the word Warrior is not just subjected to violence.

Savannah took a step back and performed a curtsy with her wet dress, when it fell back down it stuck to her legs like web. She also had to brush her front bangs of hair a bit, the water made it look rather messy. "I am Savannah." She introduced. "I must apologise for appearing like this and causing you inconvenience, but grateful that I am you came by."

With a slight pause in her speech she took a moment to look at the antlers on Evan's head. She came to a quick conclusion that he might have a tail also. With a swift step to the side and slightly leaning over she caught site of Evan's behind. Her nine tails swung side to side lightly. She peered her eyes at him. "If it's not too much of a bother, I would like to assume you are born of animal heritage, yes?" She asked. If that was so, it would be her first encounter with someone who wasn't a shifter. Savannah looked at shifters as humans pretending to be animals, not that there was something illy wrong with that of course.

<div align=center>Evan's smile widened a little, he'd never known that, he'd never been one for checking meanings of names, he wondered if his mother had known that when she named him. Evan wasn't a fighter, he'd no sooner hurt a fly than another person, it was incredibly difficult to even make him angry, he was mellow to say the least, though perhaps a little nervy of everything, but he couldn't help that, it was merely his nature. He was more like a deer than a boy, and he blamed that on his few extra features. "Savannah," he echoed, laughing, and bowing shortly in return to her curtsy, "it's nice to meet you."

His ears pricked forward at her last question, his left one flicking slightly at the breeze that caught the soft fur that lined the inside, it ticked. He nodded a little, he supposed he was, at least, he'd never cared to think of it. Though, now he thought about it his grandmother had always called him a little stag when he was a child, he'd wondered what she'd meant by that. He understood now there was a pair of antlers sprouting from the top of his head, they'd always made x-rays look funny, he thought. "Fallow Deer," he replied, laughing softly,"as if you couldn't already tell." A group of boys in his neighborhood had always teased him for it, they had called him Bambi.</div>
