The Quiet Boy Moves In

((Going to bed. Let's continue this tomorrow. ))

Emil mumbled affirmative to most of his instructions. Books got to stay on the foot end of his bed for now. Clothes went into the closet. Toothbrush and towel in the bathroom. CD's on the desk. All in all, not a bad place to live at all. His roommate was a bit brash, but not hostile and he might even get to learn how to handle his powers better. All in all, not a bad day.

Once everything was where it should be and Emil was happy with the result, he crouched down at his telescope and began assembling it. Winter nights were amazing for stargazing, clear skies covered in stars. He wondered if he could find any good spots around here...

As he worked, Emil turned up to face his roommate once again, figuring he might as well try to strike up some sort of conversation. Considering what he was working with and thinking about at the moment, his own hobbies came to mind.

"Have you ever tried stargazing?"

Not really., he said, taking a step towards him so he could have a closer look at what he was doing.

Never crossed my mind, actually. tilting his head to the left, he examined the telescope with curiosity. I take it you like it though. he smirked, his head turning slightly to the left so he could take a look at all the books standing by the bed.

Well, I guess it's an interesting hobby and all. he stood up, taking a sit on his own bed now. If you need a place to watch the sky from, there is a way to the roof if you're willing to risk it. I can show you to that once, when I'm in the mood for a walk.

Once done putting everything together, Emil stood back up, letting the rather worn out telescope stand by the end of his bed. Books, music, telescope... Yep, everything he had with him was taken care of. He turned back to William as the other continued talking.

"Yes, I do." He replied to the first question with a smile. Truth be told, astronomy (and science in general) had fascinated him for years. Perhaps it was curiosity, but Emil found great interest in what lied out there. The boy wanted to understand things, not just the planet, but further beyond. Silly, maybe, but he really could not help himself.

When William an offer to lead the way to the roof, Emil's expression only brightened. He was guessing the other boy was talking about some kind of platform or a flat roof one was allowed to walk on, which would be perfect for his intentions. "No need to go out of your way for my sake, but I would really appreciate it."

It's not out of the way. he said, leaning against the wall for a more comfortable position. It's about the only place people won't look for you when you're skipping classes., he added, grinning. Not that he did that often, though, and never on the exam days. He studied, as well, as much as he could be bothered with it which wasn't much, but it wasn't too little either. It was just that sometimes the school became too much, and he would need a break.

So, which classes are you taking than? he asked the kid in order to continue the conversation, as an awkward silence would be a bigger annoyance than the simple conversation in his opinion. Beside the basic ones everybody has to take., he said in the afterthought, as those didn't really interest him. Well, in all honesty, nothing about the kid really interested him, but he was trying to be polite, but, again, being polite didn't mean he had to be bored to death with subjects such as English. Everybody took English.

I'd recommend you take some on the power control as soon as you can, if you already hadn't. It could help you a great deal, really.

Emil let out a small laugh at the skipping class comment. He didn't really approve, but he wasn't going to say that. Things were going to be easier if he tried to avoid getting into arguments his first day in school. Before replying, he sat down on his bed, looking up at the other boy.

"Power control sounds like a must. I'm absolutely taking that." He nodded to himself. That was one of the main reasons why he went here in the first place after all. Finally being able to get his powers in check without constant concentration would be a blessing, without a doubt.

"Otherwise, I'm really not too sure." He smiled a bit. This was honestly unlike him, he usually planned ahead, but everything associated with moving out to a dorm for the first time had kept him busy as it was. "I signed up for science and biology and power control, along with the basic courses. If something else pops up I'll just have to file in a request to expand my courses, right?"

Depends on the class really. William said, a small ball that he had found in the bed for some reason now in his hand, as he tossed it in the air only to catch it again.

Things like art you can always join as it's easy to catch up even if you weren't there from the beginning, but if you wanted to join something that requires studying, like a language or advanced math, you wouldn't need to wait for the next semester and join the class that is starting from the beginning, since it would be really hard to catch up if you just jumped in in the middle of it. The ball suddenly hit the ceiling because of him throwing it too hard, only to bounce down to the table, and straight in the Emil's face from there. Luckily, it missed him by a hair.

Sorry about that. he said, smiling. The room really is too small sometimes. Throw it back to me?

Hm...Yes, that did make sense. Emil really should have understood that on his own, shouldn't he? Well, once he got himself a schedule, he should be able to plan out his days accordingly.

With these thoughts occupying him, Emil did not notice the fact that William was throwing around a ball, so when the projectile bounced off the ceiling and table, he fell back with a surprised scream, which was punctuated by everything around him once again rattling, shaking and moving across whatever surface it was placed on. Emil barely managed to lunge out and catch his telescope before it fell to the ground, after which he took a moment to once again force his power down to dormancy. That explains the numerous dents on the thing.

He mumbled a quick "Sorry", but picked up the ball and threw it back towards William. A rather weak throw honestly, intended to be easy to catch. "Was caught off guard."

William caught the thing with his left hand in the middle of the air, only to throw it again, and catch it behind his back, putting it down and out of the way.

Remind me never to that again. he muttered, eyeing the small boy a bit more cautiously now. And you really need to get the hang off that. he pointed towards him, frowning a bit. I don't mean to scorn you for it, because, as I said, it wasn't as I could control myself when I got here either, but at least my power didn't cause earthquakes all around. He tilted his head to the left suddenly, thinking. What is your power, anyway?, he asked, even though not mere four months ago he himself had labeled that question as the one you don't ask under any circumstances. His mind changed a lot since then, though, so he had almost forgotten about that now, and even when he did remember, he didn't care much anymore.

I'm a Summoner, by the way. he at least offered his secret in return. And Spirit and Warrior my summoned spirits.

Emil looked away, his small frame once again visibly shrinking. He knew very well that he was not getting scolded, but he was also aware that his powers were problematic. Angry or not, annoying the other like this was enough for him to be ashamed over.

Well, the least he can do is answer the question, right. He turned back towards his new roommate, hesitating for a second before replying. "Oh- Uh... The one you've noticed is is telekinesis. Things just... Move around me when I stop forcing it down, but you probably got that already." He let out a weak laugh, trying to bring some humor into the situation. "I also have telepathy with that. If I drop the concentration on that, I start hearing all thoughts around me."

Emil smiled a bit, rubbing the back of his head. "I really kind of fluked out at the superpower lottery, didn't I?"

William chuckled at that, shaking his head. Depends how you look at it. he said, his voice a bit deeper than before, slower, less arrogant and brash. One might say that every one of us 'gifted' has kind of fluked out at the lottery of life in general. He let the silence fall for a minute there, before his bitter smile disappeared as if it was never there.

And as your powers go, I really don't think so. he said in a completely different tone. Both telekinesis and telepathy can be really wicked, once you master them right. William could already see at least two or three ways in which both powers could be used in battle, his mind working almost on autopilot by now, as it analised them, finding both strong and weak spots and how they would work with others. He shook his head once he realised what he was doing, trying to stop that particular train of thought, especially if the other boy could hear him. Reading too much fantasy novels has really been doing a number on his brain lately, and his new roommate didn't seem much like a fighter anyway, so no need to scare him more than he really has to, right? Because it was given that some fear, or at least uneasiness, really couldn't be avoided.

Trust me, there are people with far weirder powers here. You'll get used to it soon.
