The school would practically be under lock down. Rather, a vast majority of the students were asleep right now, yet still it would be difficult to get around in the halls. Regardless, he had been caught and only narrowly managed to get away. For whatever reason, they had lost track of him despite the only possible course of escape being the roof. Apparently they had not thought of that, instead thinking that he must have gone downstairs instead of up.

He stood upon the very edge of the roof, looking down at the school grounds. He saw many lights coming from the staff members that were out searching for him. He would likely be unable to make his escape until things died down, but he was not sure how long that could take. This was not the first time he had been caught inside the school grounds, and he found it rather likely they would not tolerate it for much longer. Things would have been so much easier had he simply registered as a student, but that was an impossibility now.

Despite this being the third attempt, he had been unable to recover any relevant information off of the school's network database. The only things he were able to find were student profiles, budget and financial information (which would be a jackpot were he some sort of fraudster) and other things he had no interest in. He decided that, after tonight, he would have no need to trespass on school grounds anymore. That was, unless of course, information down the line led him to believe he would need the school further.

Alistair leaned over the edge more, able to balance himself well enough that any ordinary person would be in severe danger of falling. And a fall from this height would be enough to severely injure or kill someone. He heard a yell from down below and immediately jumped back off the ledge in an attempt to hide himself. Did someone see him? He began frantically looking around for a place to hide in the event that they came up here looking for him. It was quite dark out, except for the large bright moon. But he found it doubtful he could remain hidden for very long.

Shaeman was restless. The night was her preferred time, but in order to fit in here as a student, she had to comply with the the fact that classes were during the day and you slept at night. Not the other way round. She sighed, rolling out of bed quietly so as not to wake the other girls. Going for a walk would settle her mind. She pulled a cloak over her pyjamas, tiptoeing to the door, easing it open and stepping outside.

The air was cooler out here and she shivered a little despite her heavy cloak. The cold was one thing she had difficulty accepting. She loved the warm and thrived in it.

Realising that there were people out and about in the corridors, she stuck tothe shadows, trying to blend in. Being out of the dorms at night was not allowed, but that didn't stop Shaeman. She needed a bit of fresh air. She headed for the staircase that lead up to the roofs.

The air was cooler still up on the rooftop, but that wasn't what Shaeman noticed first. The first thing she saw was another figure, a person, already standing there. So much for not being allowed out of the dorms. But then again, why bother obeying the rules? THey were their to be broken. Shaeman broke rules every day that she lived.

A wave of nausea washed over her and she had to stop and focus for a moment. The other person had to be angelic or something along those lines. Pulling the hood on her cloak over her face in case this person turned out to be an enemy, she walked forwards, fighting with herself with every pace. Angels were not a good thing for demons. She could already feel herself weakening.

"Who are you?" She asked softly, deciding it to be better if she attempted a non threatening approach.

Doh! Caught! He jumped with surprise as he heard a voice behind him. He sulked in a dramatic manner and let out a sigh while rubbing his head with his hand. "Oh dear... you guys are rather relentless, no?" He turned around finally to face the one that had spoken, and took on a rather curious look when he noticed her face was covered in a hood. Despite the strong feeling she had, he did not at all appear to be a sort of divine being. In fact, it was almost as if the divinity he possessed was muffled somehow. Because of her background, this much would surely be obvious to her, although completely unnoticeable by any other being (although he was somewhat awkward for a human).

Her "darkness" became rather obvious to him right away as well. But he did not sense it until he actually looked at her - or rather, at the hooded figure before him that was evidently female. In that human body of his, all of his senses were strictly limited. He began to wonder just who she was, exactly. A demon, here? No, even if his senses were muddled because of his form, a full-fledged demon would be completely obvious, even if it had hidden itself inside a human body such that he had.

Who was this girl?

"Oh, you do not appear to be a member of the faculty." He said after only a second after he had turned around. Despite all the thoughts that went through his head at the moment, he did not at all delay a reaction. In fact, he did not even show a hint of noticing at what she was. "My apologies at my reaction, then, for it was irrelevant to the subject at hand." He now bowed politely to her. "My name is Alistair Fordren, m'lady. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." For one who had been so spazzed at the chance of being caught, he sure was acting calm and collected now.

He wondered just how long it would take for those searching for him to realize he was on the roof. He had to quickly come up with an escape solution, and now that one of the students (or at least, he assumed she was) had come across him, he had to take that into account as well.

Oh dear.

Shaeman watched Alistair's movements carefully, trying to detect any hint of malice or any sign that he could be dangerous. For all she knew, there could be scouts out looking through every mythical establishment on Earth, looking for her. Karthragan would be getting desperate. After all, as long as Shaeman lived, he was weakened. She tried to get a reading on him, but it was difficult. The angelic aura, even a little faint, hindered her powers, even her empathy. She pressed the heel of her palm against her eye, trying to clear her mind from the influence. It was as if trying to free a tiny pebble from a block of cement. She shook her head, not unlike a horse fighting its rider, before looking at Alistair. She pushed her hood back. Her black hair spilled down her back, the white streak gleaming slightly in the pale moonlight. Angelic aura aside, there was still something odd about this person.

She kept a wary eye on him, fighting her instincts to take a step forwards. "My name is Shaeman," the girl said as she bowed, one hand fisted over her heart in a demonic salute of respect. In the back of her mind, she cursed this lapse. The last thing she needed was to give this person a reason to attack her. She had deliberately not told Alistair her last name. It was too easy to make the link from the name to the species. "I am a student here."

She appeared honest enough. While the thought crossed his mind that a demon had taken a human form to trick him, he found that entire situation highly unlikely. While it was difficult to tell in his current state, he saw no immediate signs of possession, and a demon trying to destroy him would seek other ways to go about doing so. Indeed, if this were a sort of demon in disguise with dark intentions, it was a foolish one that he likely needed to pay no heed anyways.

But he was never one to underestimate others, just in case.

"It is very nice to meet you, Miss Shaeman. I apologize for keeping this brief, but in case you have not noticed the entirety of the school faculty is currently up in arms at the moment. In all honesty, the fault is entirely my own." He turned around again to look over the edge. He suddenly jumped back in a dramatic fashion when he realized there were not anymore lights down below. Either everyone outside turned off their flashlights for some reason or they realized he was still inside. There was an estimated 98.576% chance that they did not simply give up the search.

"Regardless of fault." He continued. "I must take my leave, lest I am punished severely." He smiled as if the entire thing were a joke, and yet his words were most certainly serious. "It is recommended you take a position of hiding as well, Miss Shaeman. I find it likely that the faculty are making their way here as we speak. I am sure they will not appreciate a young lady such as yourself up past curfew."

He returned to look over the edge of the roof. There seemed to be sufficient slants and other such things (awnings, dorm room decks, etc) for him to land on or collide with to slow his descent. His body would surely take damage, but if done properly he knew he would be able to jump off and and sufficiently make his escape.

Several of the teachers made their way up the stairs. They had nearly reached the roof of the academy. "We are finally going to get this little punk!" One of them said. "He has no where to go now!" The other teachers laughed out loud in agreement.

The one vice that was certain to one day bring her downfall reared its head deep within her mind. Curiosity. Much like a wolf when it spies the chase, once she started to wonder about something, she wasn't likely to let it go until she had an answer. She still couldn't figure out this strange individual. It nagged at her mind, the need to understand, to know.
"Why are you running?" She asked. Behind her, the sound of laughing and running footsteps echoed in her ears. She whipped round, her cloak twisting itself around her as she looked back at the stairwell. Lights were bouncing around the walls, heralding the approach of the teachers. As Alistair had said, they wouldn't be happy to find her out of her dorm... again.
"They're coming." She stated. She couldn't help but smile slightly to herself. She relished a chase that was there purely for the fun of it. There was no danger in this chase. The teacher shad it coming. There was no way you could keep a bunch of teenagers with powers under control at all times, especially since there were at least two who preferred the company of the moon. She glanced back at Alistair.
"I couldn't care less what they did to me," she snorted, her hands on her hips. She smirked slightly, looking down over the wall. Yeah, it was feasible. It would be one hell of a ride, but it was feasible, even with the angel close to her. If he was desperate to get away from the teachers, then the only way was down. If she jumped with him, she might be able to find out more about him.
"Ever wondered what it would be like to fly?" She asked. Taking a step back, she jumped from the roof.

"What?" He started as she suddenly jumped off. "Hey! Wait that's danger-" Too late, she was gone, and those that sought answers from him were close behind. Though, he worried for more than just his own safety now. What was that girl thinking? A jump from this height could be fatal if not done properly. In all honesty, this was not something that should've surprised him. He had seen some crazy things on this island. And considering what he was, that was certainly extraordinary.

There was nothing left to do now but jump.

The teachers made it to the top of the stairs only to find an empty roof. Well, except for the shadow that had just jumped over the edge. Mister Mackenzie ran over to the ledge and looked below only to see what appeared to be two (??) students below. "What!? You've got to be kidding me.." All that running around and he ended up jumping off the roof. They seriously needed someone with flight or teleportation... or something.

In his haste to jump after the girl he ended up landing poorly. Well, "poorly" defined as "landed on top of the one he was trying to catch and save from a very bad fall." That is, unless she managed to get out of the way in time. In which case, he would simply go splat right on the ground next to her. Rather comical to the eyes of an onlooker, rather painful to the one(s) actually involved in the act. A rather tired "oh dear" came from him regardless of the outcome.

Shaeman rolled into her landing, ending up on her feet. She had used some of her magic to slow her fall, turning what could easily have been fatal into nothing more than a jarring landing. She brushed herself off, checking that the knife she wore hidden under her sleeve was still in its sheath and picking bits of leaf and grass out of her hair. The jump had exhilarated her, adrenaline pulsing through her veins as she stood up. It echoed the adrenaline she used to feel with her old friends back at the Academy. Shaeman quickly squashed those thoughts. There was no need to take a trip down memory lane again. She could feel that she was going to pay for that jump in the morning, but for the present moment, she didn't care. She tilted her head to one side. There was a sound, wind whistling and clothes flapping, the same sort of sound as someone… falling? Uh oh. She didn't quite manage to get out of the way as Alistair also came into rapid contact with an unforgiving ground. Or at least it would have been an unforgiving had he not fallen on top of her first. Glad of the fact that she was stronger than she appeared, she still knew that she had definitely not escaped injury this time. If the injury wasn't from the fact that someone had fallen on top of her, then it would be from the close proximity of an angelic force. There was already a searing headache building up inside her skull.
"If you would be so kind as to get the hell off me!" She growled, "I think we would both be a bit happier." She tried to wriggle out on her own, but the angel was too heavy. She sighed in slight irritation.

"But mommy I do not wish to bake tacos for grandma in the mor- wait, what?" He shook his head and rolled off of her before slowly standing. His stance was a bit wobbly as he recovered from the fall, and he shook his head a few times while rubbing his face with his hand. "Well then, that was mildly inconvenient." He said nonchalantly before turning to the girl he had just landed on inadvertently. "Oh! I apologize sincerely Miss Shaeman. Are you unharmed?" He rushed over to her in attempt to help her stand.

"Just what is all the commotion this late at night!?" Demanded Mister Amarant, a rather aged gentleman who often had a somewhat short temper. "Can't an old man get his rest? God dang kids." He made his way to the top of the stairs only to catch the other teachers bickering about some kid who had trespassed on the school grounds again. "What we're still doing this? I thought you guys caught that kid ages ago."

"Go back to bed, Mister Amarant. We got this." Mister Mackenzie said with confidence. But the older man just scoffed.

"You couldn't catch a cold in a doctor's office full of five year olds, Jim." He laughed. Amarant made his way over to the edge of the roof and peered down with his tired eyes. "Oh my, it looks like there be two of 'em. No matter, I'll just send one of my friends there to get 'em back. Since you all seem too lazy to do it yerself."

The other teachers looked at each other with widened eyes.

Shaeman groaned quietly. That hurt. That really hurt. Despite appearances, angels were very solid creatures. She felt as if she had been run over by a bus and that bus had decided to back over her again just to make sure it had done the job properly. She pushed herself to her feet, shaking her head to clear the foggyness. As exhilarating as the jump was, she was never going to to that again when there was someone jumping after her.
"Ok, remind me never to do that again," She muttered to herself. She started prodding her ribs and flexing her arms and legs. "Ok, nothing broken, it's just going to hurt like hell in the morning," she looked up at Alistair. "I'm ok, I'll deny that in the morning, but for the moment, I'm ok." She glanced towards the roof. "Looks like we might have another problem on our hands though..."
