"Recording is...when you keep a sound! I will show you." He turned his laptop on, quickly logging in and putting the microphone into the booth and screwing the pop filter on. Pressing 'record' on his software, he said "This is a recording. I have keeped the sound." And turned to Sushi.
"I have recorded now! I keep the sound, and I can play back the sound when I like to." He said, playing it back. "And now, I will act. I will pretend to be sad. Please do not worry!"
Putting his language charm back on, he took a deep breath and opened a new project file, arming it to record. And with a snap of his fingers, he was crying. "Why... why did you have to leave me?!" And with another snap, he was straight back to his normal self. "Now I'm gonna record it again, but with echo." And he simply set the mic down onto the desk, recording the line again.
Then he added a backing track. "This is why we don't want an echo." He said, playing Sushi a sample of the reverbed acting track. It felt unnatural, since the music and the vocals didn't go together. It just sounded so unreal and unprofessional. And then he played the booth track. It was smoother, more real. As if the music and the vocals could have been recorded in the same room. It just sounded nicer. But maybe Sushi wouldn't be able to tell the difference...
