It was the evening of Friday, May 1st, and the First Lilac Ball had finally begun.

The ballroom was decorated with lilacs and musical notes, going along with the theme of the month's festivities. Most of the lights even matched the purple and white of the lilacs. In the center of this enormous room, students were dancing to the music that filled the air. The genre and tempo of the music was changing every few songs, giving almost everyone a chance to enjoy the dancing in their own way.

All around the edges of the ballroom, there were round tables where the students could sit and relax. Off to one side, there were a few tables where the students could grab some drinks and snacks.

The ballroom had everything you should need for a fun school dance. After all the hard work the student council had put into making this a reality, there was only one thing left: to enjoy it.

It took Micha's dads thirty minutes to get him to walk into the ballroom. Most of that time was spent trying to calm him down and wipe away his tears after he saw how many people showed up. He couldn't even bring a pet with him because people probably wouldn't appreciate a dead rabbit in his arms, no matter how alive it looked.

The tears had mostly dried on his face by now. You could barely spot the redness. He had to put on a brave look. His dads put a lot of effort into prettying him up. They went out of their way to buy him fancy clothing for both halves of him. The torsos wore shirts and vests, the waists wore skirts. The lower one wore the longest. Micha was certain this was a little much, but after seeing some kids dressed casually, he was happy to be on the side of those looking fancy. Even if he had no partner to show off with. One of his dads suggested coming along with him, but... he wasn't having that.

Micha moved through the ballroom by keeping to the walls. He tried to stay out of the way as much as his height allowed him. Once he found a relatively empty corner to relax in, he took a sip of the juice he picked up along the way and closed his eyes. There was a lot of information coming at him at once. Too many parts moving around.

Tril probably shouldn't have even tried to come to this event. It was only a matter of time before the holy people arrived in big dumb groups and made it suck. But for the moment there was only a couple and Tril was skillfully staying on the far end of the room from them. Currently in the form of a tall green-scaled lizardman in just about the fanciest suit they had been able to spot while window shopping the other day. They stopped by the snacks table to furtively hide the labels for the food under their containers and then quietly snicker to themself as they continued wandering.

Myca was dressed in her very best: a just washed cape on her back, stockings on her feet, and all her fluffy fur carefully shampooed and brushed. She zoomed in at head-height, looking for a safe place to land, and ultimately chose an empty table suspiciously close to the snacks. "Wow! This party is huge!" She exclaimed excitedly to... well, no one in particular really.

KirMir were dressed as they usually did for parties- matching black suit and dress. Kir was in the process of discussing music arrangements with the DJ, while Mir was speaking with other students nearby

"Nice to see you." "Hope you have a wonderful time this evening." "The refreshments are over there." "Yes, there will be a live band." Liliana stated warmly as she greeted people, answering any questions guests might have also as they passed through the doors to the Lilac Ball.

Liliana, ex student-council president, had opted to wear the salmon colored pantsuit she had worn the night she had met KirMi (she had kept the outfit as both a reminder of the evening and as a good luck charm since it had been an extremely fortuitous moment for her).

Smiling as the first students continued to file slowly past her, Liliana waited patiently and excitedly for KirMir to arrive. She was immensely proud of everything they had achieved and couldn't wait to celebrate this evening with them.

KirMir finished planning with the DJ for the moment and carefully made their way around the small stream of students coming in. "Lily," Kir called out as they drew closer and placed an open hand on her back. "Were you looking for us?"

"We should point out we do not have a live band tonight, but the DJ is skilled and will be using a mix of genres," added Mir as they flanked Lily and then turned to greet a few more students arriving.

Jeremiah had asked his friend Verda, from the gardening club, to the dance. She had made it clear that they'd only be going as friends - she was attracted to girls. Not that he'd had any other notion when he'd asked. She was really nice and they got along well, but he didn't really think of her that way.

He was dressed well - a charcoal grey suit and pink shirt his mother had helped him pick out. This was his first ever dance, after all. He wanted to look nice. His hair was combed back, complete with baby's breath and lilacs growing out from his scalp. He was excited! This was a new thing to try, and he scanned the room seeing if there was anyone that he knew so that he could say hello.

Alma only had one dress that she could wear to things like this. But damn if it wasn't a good one. Black Velvet and lace with straps that all came together attached to a gold pentagram over her collarbone.

She was in her mostly human looking form - her more demonic form wouldn't really fit well into the dress, which was a shame. But this was a party! Sort of. She definitely wasn't going to get drunk or anything like that here, but maybe at least nothing would happen to make her leave early.

She kept her ears and eyes open for Angelo and Iggy, seeing if she could catch them before she got their scent.

For this ball she wanted to go all out to blow away any sort of competition out of the water. She spent out hours on her make-up alone as she applied a shade strawberry red lip gloss, a bit of crimson eye shadow, and ever so delicately thickening her red lashes and adding a bit of glittery sparkle to them. Each of her nails where trimmed short and lathered with a deep bright red nail polish. Her hair was tied back into an intricate lopsided braided flower bun that took forever to do. To add some color to her hair she had a single red rose tucked into her hair by her right ear. Naturally she needed some help from her foster father Vincent to pull the look off but by the nine hells was it worth it to look this fabulous!

Her foster father also reached out to a compatriot of his named Natasha Lockwood to help pick out her dress for the ball. It was a little fun she admitted to work with someone as in tune with fashion as she was and with her help she was able to find a dress to make her the talk of this ball! It was was a fancy one shoulder A-line dress that starts off ice white the top and gradates to a bright red towards frills of the skirt. The strap hanging over right shoulder the skirt reaches down to knee-length, the color . The outfit was decorated with studded synthetic rubies that form swirling floral patterns along the strap and the left side of the left side of the waist while near the bottom synthetic diamonds where used to make similar floral patterns around the skirt area. For footwear Aedes went with a cute pair of red kitten heel style shoes with red laces and ribbons wrapping around her ankles.

Wearing this outfit Aedes felt glamorous and already she had a couple of heads turn to her direction. But there was one particular head that she was keeping an out for. So as she pushed her way to the middle, she pulled out her phone to text Hugo that she was here as well as asking him where he was.

Amber tentatively waited for her date to arrive at the door for Nathan to arrive. For this dance she did't wan't to be too extravagant, wearing a purple and lilac ball gown which lacked sleeves and was large enough to completely hide her spider half under the frills. To keep up with the whole lilac theme, Amber even let her natural hair come through to show off that natural lilac color though her hair was still black towards the ends. For accessories she a pair of silver earrings that droop down her her lobes like suspended raindrops as well as simple pendant in the shape of a spider along her neck.

While she hasn't been waiting long, part of her was worried if Nathan was running late or worse wasn't going to show up. So she pulled out her phone to check for any messages as well as contemplating if she should call him or not to see where he was.

"Mir," Lily replied happily when she spotted an elegant young woman coming her way, flanked by a young man, who was as equally well-dressed. "And Kir," she added in greeting as she was escorted into the ballroom.

"Oh my, I just assumed... Was Mystic not available to play tonight then?" she asked, rather perplexed by this as she let KirMir lead her through the small crowd of students.

Kir leaned in close to speak bear her ear rather than raise their voice too much as they parted through the crowd a bit. "It was a financial decision. We plan to hold these more often so limiting costs was prudent as long as it didn't hinder the event too much."

Together they took both of Lily's hands as they walked, with Kir remaining close and Mir taking point in opening a path just ahead of them. Turning back to add, "and it allows for a source of variety for the next event too." Both bodies smiled as they walked with her. Proud to be partially responsible for the event taking place and also quite comforted by her presence with them, as usual.

Adelyn and Alain stepped into the dance arm-in-arm. Adelyn *loved* dances and was clearly thrilled to be there, hugging Alain’s arm tight as she looked around the room.

“The decorating in here is so cute! I love it.”

Adelyn liked to wear things that reminded her of the night sky, but for the Lilac Dance she decided to be a little more on-theme. Her dress was a solid pastel purple, featuring a lace top with a slight v-neck that covered the bodice and her arms. The chiffon skirt was knee-length and had a delicate sway to it as she moved. To add a little of her own personal touch, she wore a silver necklace with moon and star charms on it.

Her hair was braided into a side-braid which, by some miracle, Storm managed to figure out. She also wore a few small lilac accessories in her hair. The entire outfit was a birthday gift from Storm, and Lyn could have sworn Storm was on the verge of tears when she saw her in the dress. But, Storm is Storm and she holds her emotions tight to herself.

If you try to tell Jessica to just dress casual for a dance, she will go ‘lalala I can’t hear you’ in her brain and wear something far more elaborate.

She had on one of those dresses with the large, iridescent sequins on them that were pretty trendy at the moment. The sequins were predominately white, but shown lilac purple and sky blue in the light. The dress hugged the curves of her body and slightly flared out at the end of the floor-length skirt. The dress was held up by little spaghetti straps, which crisscrossed along her bare back.

The dress had a plunging neckline, which showed *just* enough cleavage to be hot but not so much that the school might kick her out. It was truly a delicate balance. The floor-length dress also featured a slit, because she couldn’t *not* show off her fabulous legs as well.

And of course, Jessica being Jessica, she had to bring a little ‘Cali Flavor’ to the look by keeping her hair down in soft, beachy waves.

She had some simple pieces of jewelry on as well--dangling earrings, a sparkly but simple bracelet--but they were understatement pieces since the dress itself was so loud. Literally--it was both loud in how much it shined, and in how noisy the sequins were whenever Jessica moved.

As she sashayed her way into the dance with her strappy little heels, the first thing she did was pull out her phone to take a few selfies and a quick video.

“Here I am--first dance at Starlight Academy! The theme is all lilac, it looks super cute in here--”

She holds her phone up to show some of the decorations.

“And here I am in this sequin monster to match!”

She points her phone down to her dress, and notably her cleavage. She brings it back up to her face.

“I love this dress! It’s so wild.” She laughs. “Alright, time to go find friends and ladies to dance with~” She winks, then turns off the recording.

Satisfied with that, she started looking around for anyone she knew. Funny enough, the first person she noticed was also the tiniest person she knew: Myca was on a table, right by the snacks. She headed over.

“Hey you!” She said, leaning over a bit to get a good look at her. “Omigosh, you look sooooo cute!”
