Another reason why the redhead absolutely adored coffeeshops? They were filled with so many people. Old, young (like him), tall, short... And here, you had people with wings, and horns, with the ability to reheat coffee with their bare hands. Able to transmute their coffee. It was jumble of just... Super interesting people. Every flavor of person was there. Most of them were nice.
The people were half of the reason why Nix made coffee his daily grind. The other half? .... Ughh. College, the education he'd thought'd be fun... God, it was hell. Or, sorry. Make that gods. He'd met one earlier.
ANYWAYS. Nix was getting ahead of himself. And so, change in hand and a smile on his face, he ordered his signature coffee, chatting up the cashier quite nicely.
"... Yeah. Y'know, it's the daily grind. Worst it's ever bean for me. Latte stuff to be done. Heheh. Thanks for the coffee, by-the-by - you're the best," looking down at the nametag - "Charlotte. Tomorrow, same time? Sweeeet."
Mug in hand, he waked across the shop, lookin for an empty table -
And almost bumped into another person. NOT AGAIN!
"Shit, i'm so sorry, miss," with a sheepish smile.

Akarina was already having a bad day to begin with. She had just arrived at school, knew absolutely no one, and was already getting lost. So, when the young men at the coffee shop almost made her spill her drink, she kind off lost it:
"Is it too godamn hard to look where you're going?"

People in the shop turned around to look at her, but she did not care. Without another look to the poor guy she had just yelled at in public, Akarina quickly made her way out of the small building. This day was truly the worst.

In truth, yes. It had been hard to look where he'd been going. But - and this floated to the back of his mind - there wasn't much reason to act like that. Most would kind of... like, shoot a "bitch," back at her. But that'd be mean, yeah? From the look of it, the chick he'd bumped into was pissed already, probably from a bad day.
Righting himself (thank Gods his coffee had a lid, otherwise he'd be sloshed right now dripping in coffee), he looked, and then broke into a sprint, in the young woman's direction.
"Hey! Kid! Wait. I said I'm sorry!" He reached out to her - and slipped (somehow) on the pavement. Or on thin air - he could never tell anymore. Nix hit the ground with a big thump, and a hiss. "Ow. Fuck. Uhm, hey! C'mere! I'm sorry - can I make it up to ya somehow?"

Akarina looked around to see where the voice was coming from, and almost grunted in annoyance when she saw the guy from the coffee shop. Had he really followed her outside? He looked pretty desperate like that, laying on the ground. For a second, she almost felt sorry for him, but that feeling soon vanished.

"Well, if you really want to be helpful, you could always show me around."
Akarina had too much pride to ever dare ask for help, but since the guy had insisted to redeem himself, it couldn't really hurt. She didn't really trust him, but doubted that he could hurt her. If threatened, she wouldn't hesitate to defend herself.

Ah. And there it was. "New to the island, huh? That's cool. Remember when I was new here - a couple'a months ago. Real confusing for a newcomer, but. Uhm. Yeah. Sorry about the rambling, by the way - guess i'm just that dude, y'know?" Righting himself (again), he grinned wide - his coffee had emerged -"Unscathed. Perfect. Jeez, I must be lucky today. Uh. Anyways." The grin stayed on his face as he held out his arms to his sides. "Where to, miss? Island's free, school's free - I'll take ya pretty much anywhere."

Akarina was surprisingly managing to stay calm. She had just started talking to the guy and he was already annoying her. Nevertheless, he was her only hope, and, as much as she wanted to flip him off, she didn't.

"Well, I can find my way around the island just well, you know." she said, holding up her wings with a smug grin on her face. "I thought it was pretty evident"

One look at her wings and suddenly Nix was very, very interested. Red, like his hair, like... Almost like fire. Which kind of got him thinking - what were her powers? Oh shit. Her name! He'd forgotten to ask for a name. "Whoooa. Wings. Dude. That's frickin' awesome. Well... If you have those, then why do ya need me to show ya around? Is it the company? I DO make pretty good company. Once I learn to keep my frickin' mouth shut. Y'know. Oh, wait." And then he shut up for a second, before clearing his throat. "Ahem. Allow myself to introduce... myself... Aha. Um. Nix. Nix is the name. Yours is...?"

Was he always like that? Oh god, she was in for a wild ride.
"Ugh. Fine. Akarina. My name's Akarina. And i'm not here for your company. I need you to show me around.. because... I can't really fly inside the school, dumbass."

She almost gave him the "are you really that stupid" face, but then realized that her request wasn't that precise. Well, it's not like she was going to ask him "Could you please show me around the school, thanks". She wasn't like that. Especially not with strangers, and he was probably aware of that already.

Ohhh. Yeah, she was probably right for calling him a dumbass. Except - she didn't mention she was a student, like him. Huh. Weird. He wasn't really hurt b the name-calling, though - he'd heard, and been the target of, worse. "You never mentioned you go to the school. Uni, I take it? You look like a smart uni chick. Heh. Pun-intended. Anyways. Why not say so in the first place, Akarina? By the by, Akarina. Beautiful name. Very stylish. Either way. Uhm... Yeah. You can't fly around the school much - but you can walk, right?"

"No, my legs aren't functioning, and you totally did not see me run out of the shop 5 minutes ago. And yeah, i'm in my first year of uni. General studies. I don't even know why I bother telling you that."

Akarina was taking a liking in messing around with the guy. He seemed to ask a lot of dumb questions, like it was the first time he saw a supernatural creature. Why though? He was probably one himself, right?
