Facing down a salvo of questions from the bubbly spider-girl, Chloe only picked out and answered a few of them. First, she would let Amber hold Arach.
"Well, I live with your grandfather. So you could meet him if you come visit me. Your other mom knows where my home is, or I could come pick you up. I guess we'll figure it out. But your grandma..."
Chloe took a deep breath. She was still trying not to process the thought that her old family could be dead. She had spent so long just trying not to think about them. "It's, uh, it's a long story. You won't be meeting her. Maybe I'll tell you about it someday, but, uh..." Chloe held back her sobbing, but her voice wobbled. "Yeah. We'll have a lot of things to get you caught up on, Amber." She held it together, even smiled a little at the end.
None of this felt real. A vision of her family's death, the appearance of her child - and how did this child even happen? It didn't even make sense for the things she did with Pandora to produce a child! Did it?
She was barely holding it together. At any moment, she thought, she would be waking up from this weird dream. She would be walking into the kitchen, and probably finding out which of her classmates her father had slept with this time. And for the first time, that would make her feel more comfortable - a return to what had become normal.
She saw the other two spider-girls getting into a fight. There was Phaedra, there was Dalia. At least Amber was more laid-back than they were.
In any case, she should probably explain what Arach's deal was, since Arach was bringing it up. "Yes. Arach isn't just a spider. She's actually a demon, and she can change her form."
