Sela didn't realize they were insulted until they were told so. Even then, they had no idea what to say. They didn't want to start a problem by eating Lizzy. Myst and Jao almost convinced them to float away until Jessica moved over to talk.

"Hi Jessica, I'm Sela." Then, looking at Lizzy. "She doesn't seem like an asshole. Right now..." They paused, wondering if they should say what they were thinking. A small nudge from Myst made them continue. "Right now you feel more like one."

Edwin scanned the room quietly to see if everyone had arrived or not. Watching impassively as a few stragglers entered and took their seats, the drama teacher finally cleared his throat.

"Good afternoon Starlighters," Edwin St Aubwyn started as his dark red gaze moved from student to student, stopping briefly on each member of the drama club before moving on to the next.

"As you surely know, the drama club puts on a major production every fall as a prelude to the Christmas season," he explained as he began walking back and forth across the stage, pacing and stopping for effect as he spoke.

"This year, I was hoping to undo last year's production with something innovative, maybe with a musical of some sort?" he stated as his gaze fell upon Jae for a moment, and then flickered Hiraku and to the others in the room.

"Has anyone here had experience singing for an audience?" he asked.

Hikaru scooted closer and asked about Mertown. The question caught Jae entirely off-guard. "Oh, um, I don't actually- I havn't been to Mertown." He said. Jae rubbed his arm, feeling incredibly awkward. Thankfully Mr. Edwin began to address them and spared Jae any further awkwardness.

He tried to not react to the word musical, especially as that's when Mr. Edwin's gaze fell upon him. Jae felt he kept his face fairly neutral. It wasn't that Jae hated musicals. . . but he didn't think he could bring himself to sing before others, not when that song was within him. So he stayed quiet when Mr. Edwin asked if any of them had any experience singing for others.

A big grin came across her face when Sela defended themself.

"Nice to meet you, Sela~" she said in a cheery tone, while very clearly ignoring Lizzy with a lack of eye contact.

When Mr. Edwin asked his question, Jessica's hand shot up immediately.

Lizzy

Lizzy rolled her eyes when Jessica inserted herself into the conversation. "Oh, great. Who ordered the dumb blonde?" She asked out loud, to no one in particular.

"Says the.. What the fuck even are you?" Lizzy asked Sela. "You look like some ones weird.. Lizzy started, before shutting up when Edwin cleared his throat and putting her phone in her pocket. When he asked if anyone had any experience singing to an audience, Lizzy also raised her hand. Truth be told, she'd never sung in front of anyone before, but how hard could it really be?

Edwin was not particularly surprised when Jae kept his hand down, and while slightly disappointed by this he also understood why his foster son had chosen not to volunteer.

"Two volunteers so far," Edwin remarked calmly as he looked at first at Jessica and then stared at Lizzy, hiding his disapproval although his vampiric hearing had heard the dubious exchange between her and the other members of the group.

"Anyone else?" he asked as he looked very pointedly at Hiraku, and then at Sela.

Sela was slow to respond to... pretty much everything in general. They were usually off in their head unless something had their attention. After Lizzy's comments, they much preferred staying in the safety of their mind where everything made sense and they weren't being insulted. Not that they were insulted, but her words were meant to hurt and that didn't feel right. Just because someone tried to stab Sela before realizing too late that they were intangible didn't mean Sela forgot about the intent behind the action.

It took them catching the stare of the director to remember where they were and what they were supposed to be doing. Their hand shot up. Despite their new found attention to why they were here in the first place, their expression blank bore into the mean little girl instead of Mr. St. Aubwyn.

Once Jessica knew her hand raise was acknowledged, she lowered her arm and turned her attention back to Lizzy. She had a big smile on her face, but it was not one of warmth or kindness. Instead, she started to say in a low whisper--as to not disturb the class as best as she could, while overexaggerating her 'valley girl' dialect and with dripping sarcasm:

"Omigaaaawd, you're like, so witty and original; I haven't heard that a million times before! You should, like, totally write a comedy or something because you are sooooo clever and original, wooooow~ so funnyyyyyyy~"

Then she stopped with a sneer, rolling her eyes.

Hikaru's attention was grabbed by Mr Edwin's speech, and he did hesitate for a long moment. His confidence really had been shot after he'd seen everyone's skills - everyone here was just so...naturally talented. He was just Hikaru. Why was the teacher looking at him that intently? Had he been there at the competition during the summer festival type event thing? Or maybe he'd caught Hikaru singing to himself or...he didn't know, but it wasn't like he specifically called attention to his singing. Especially not with people like Jessica in the same room.

He eventually caved, though, and his hand slowly rose up into the air. "I can... I've sung before," he admitted meekly. It probably wasn't audible to anyone around him, but then again Mr Edwin had proven his hearing was far above average...

Watching as the remaining hands shot up, Edwin smiled in satisfaction. It looked like he had a willing group of participants this year.

"That's the spirit," he said as he looked at the group before him, a pleased glint in his red vampiric gaze. "It's wonderful to see a group of students that's so willing to put themselves out there to entertain others," he added as he walked over to a box filled with scripts and musical scores.

"Now, while I do have a few ideas in mind. I'd like to hear from you," he said as he brought the box over to a table near the front of the stage.

"What do you think would be a good musical, or story that we could put to music?" Edwin asked the group curiously. "Remember that while the production would be leading up to the holiday season, it doesn't need to be Christmas centric."
