Lochlann was looking for his apartment keys.

The young man was barefoot in his apartment. Each step he took echoed like a horse's hooves. He wore jeans, a t-shirt that advertised a kayaking company in Shickshinny, and he accessorized with a beer bottle in his left hand. Lochlann took a swig, then lifted up the magazines on the small coffee table across from the futon. No keys there.

Things had been disappearing and reappearing in places he had not left them. Or, maybe, as Lochlann suspected, he was just losing things.

There was no way Lochlann lost the person that suddenly materialized in his apartment, though. Nope. That was most definitely not Lochlann's,

"Hey uh," Lochlann said, looking up at the other person with wide eyes. "Uh...what the fuck?"

Yes, this was, indeed, definitely not her room.

Adeloise had just returned to the dorms after her class (which aren't actually over yet) all because she didn't feel like staying in the school buildings any longer. She was about to throw herself onto her bed and just lounge around for the rest of the day. Instead her fact met something er... less comfortable. It wasn't the floor. Was it a couch? No clue.

Before she could process anything more, a voice interrupted her thoughts. Looking up she met eyes with this... person. Person she's never met. Yes. Eloquence was hard to grasp these days.

"First of all," she began. "Language. And second. Who are you and why am I here?"

"Sorry," Lochlann said, automatically. Then, he frowned, and said, "Wait, no, this is my apartment. I can curse in here if I want to."

He crossed his arms and looked at the person before him.

He frowned. He chewed on the inside of his cheek.

He glanced over at the filled recycle bin from last night's liquid dinner and then he sighed.

"Not again," he said. "You're uh...you're not a succubus, are you?"

"Well, alright, if you want to curse in front of a child," Adeloise huffed, removing herself from whatever she had fallen on -- she would confirm now that it was a couch -- and dusting herself off the imaginary dust. Ah, her clothes got wrinkled too. Bummer.

She took a look around for a moment, finding traces of odd energy around. Almost as if there was restlessness in the air she couldn't put her finger on. The young spirit medium was about in interject again, simply to comment on the state of the place (not like she had any place to talk -- her dorm didn't look pristine either), the older boy spoke first. For a moment, she was confused but it was later replaced with some other kind of bewilderment.

Her brows shot up, partly offended by the accusation. "Heh, I wish," she snapped, her head held high up. "No, just a random spirit medium," she admitted, expression relaxing so slightly, "Nothing more, nothing less. You haven't really answered my question. Are we still in...um. Manta Carlos?"

"I don't want to curse in front of a child, but I can, and I probably will," Lochlann retorted, though his dark brows were furrowed in a crease that rather matched his frown.

Okay, so she wasn't a succubus, she was a spirit medium--Lochlann wondered momentarily if that meant there were spirit smalls and spirit larges-- and she was randomly in his apartment. He was definitely relieved that she wasn't a succubus. She looked a bit young, and while Lochlann knew age was deceptive, he had strong negative reactions towards the thought of anyone who might still be a child.

"Alright, well, first off, you didn't ask if we're still in the Manta Carlos," Lochlann pointed out. "But yeah. You're above the Rusted Anchor Bar on the Pier, actually. In my apartment. Which is weird."

He squinted again and then asked, "You're not related or in contact with anyone named Guinevere, right? Small girl, about your height, purple-ish hair, sort of looks like she's mad at everything?"

He wanted to verify that she wasn't out to kill him, either, though he rather supposed she wouldn't really tell him the truth if she was.

"Well, neither have you answered my actual first question: Who are you and why am I here?", Adeloise repeated herself, "But I appreciate knowing I haven't been brought off island." She nodded, a simple gesture that made her appear more haughty than she should, given her current situation. No part of her seemed alarmed about it.

The girl thought for a moment. She's... never heard of the Rusted Anchor, and probably wouldn't because she never really set foot around the Pier. She once saw shady people nearby and didn't want to stay too long, making the area one she didn't want to explore. Willingly at least.

"And no, I don't know anyone with that name or that appearance," she answered plainly. "Geez, you ask unnecessary questions! Is that what people do when they summon others or something?"

"Oh," Lochlann said, and then, awkwardly, he held out his hand towards her for an introductory handshake. He'd leave it hanging there awkwardly if she chose not to accept it; if she did, Lochlann's hand would be warm and firm.

"I'm Lochlann and this is my apartment," he gestured to the small space they were in.

"I have no idea why you're here. I was...." Lochlann frowned. He wasn't sure what he was up to last night because he was doing his best to get to sleep. He didn't think he would summon a succubus, but it wouldn't be the first time.

"I mean, yes, normally, if you're doing a summoning you usually ask a bunch of questions," Lochlann said instead. "About your magic spell or your love life or whatever."

He squinted at her and said, "I hope you're not here to tell me about my love life."

He was running out of possible reasons she might have appeared in his apartment and finally, he said, "You don't think you'll wind up back in here if I walk you back home, do you? Or I guess I could call you a ride. That might be less sketchy."

There was a noticeable delay in the girl's reaction when Lochlann extended a hand to her. It looked nothing loke confusion but more of something like she was gauging him. Nothing was said when she accepted it, barely gripping the older boy's hand for a shake, and pulling away immediately after confirming he was, in fact, not ethereal.

Adeloise looked to him as he finally gave her the answer she was looking for -- though she was greatly unsatisfied. Apparently, neither of them had any idea why. She pondered for a moment if Adrien would have known anything, but quickly shook the thought away. She didn't need that lying monster following her around.

The girl appreciated the explanation of what to do in the summoning; it wasn't different from divination apparently from what she learned but... she didn't get why there was a need to summon spirits for that. "Oh, I'm definitely not. Why would I know anything about your love life?" she asked, almost absentmindedly as she finally allowed her senses to scan the room. "I didn't even know your name in the first place.

Mine's Adeloise by the way, but more importantly--" she paused, finally looking back at the other, "I think you might have a ghost problem. There's this weird vibe in here. Faint but it's there," she told him before considering his offer. Well, she didn't really get why it would be sketchy helping her get back home, but either would have been fine with her. "Anyway, I don't know why I'm here either, but maybe it's to tell you that. And don't worry about me; I can get back to the dorms on my own." A pause. "Probably."

"Ghosts, huh?" Lochlann asked.

He was pensive for a moment. He looked around the apartment not so much as if he was seeing it for the first time, but rather, as if he was seeing it in a memory instead. There were so many possibilities for ghosts.

Lochlann had always wondered why no one he'd killed had ever come back to haunt him. His brother, Lawrence, speculated it had something to do with death-by-fae. There were some fae who were born from mortal deaths, but as far as they were aware, there were no fae-related ghosts. It probably had to do with the ambiguous do-we-have-souls-stance.

"Hey Adeloise," Lochlann asked. Despite her age, he questioned her as he might an adult when he asked, "Any advice for clearing it up?"

He squinted again, then laughed and said, "Don't get me wrong, you're nice, but I really don't like the idea of unexpected people just poofing in here."

He clapped his hands when he said poofing for emphasis.

He reached for his phone and waved her concern away.

'I'll call you an uber," he said.

"Yes, ghosts," Adeloise affirmed. "They're not here right now, unless they're good at hiding." Once the next question was thrown at her, she had to muffle a really snide expression on her face, almost as if she had just the solution at hand for his request. "As a matter of fact, I do know a thing or two about that," she declared. "You'd need a better psychic than me though. If they are hiding, they'll need to be drawn out first then warded out but that's not a thing I can do. Banish them out of your apartment; put up a barrier. They'll leave you alone eventually unless they've got a personal grudge," she told him, matter-of-factly. There was a moments pause before she continued to add: "You don't have anyone with grudges towards you, do you?" "Anyway, honestly, unexpected guests poofing in my room's a normal thing for me but I don't really appreciate being called out of nowhere without me knowing either so I guess we're even somehow," she noted. There was a certain smugness in her tone that didn't seem necessary. She said nothing about him calling her a ride home -- she would have been totally fine with it. If she was in the pier, it would probably be a long way back to the dorms and all she really wanted right now was to lie down and sleep off the rest of the day.
