Spreading a little ketchup on his burger, Stefan squished it a little and took a bite. It was nice and juicy as he chewed and swallowed.

"Fair enough. The logic is sound."

He took another bite and was mid chewing when she asked about his eyes. There was a momentary pause before he resumed and finished that bite. How to go about this? Should he just remove them and let her see? No, he would explain first.

"Uh...well see. My mom being a goddess and associated with beauty, among other things, has seemingly given me a little gift. People that make direct eye contact with me...."

His shoulders lifted up in a slight shrug.

"....tend to fall for me."

"Ohh..." Zora said, her eyes growing wide when Stephan explained the reason for not showing his eyes, and because she was a witch, she suddenly understood how serious this might be. It was a curse and, perhaps, a blessing at the same time.

"And how long does it last? Like a few hours, or longer?" she asked both concerned and intrigued at the same time as a few questions arose.

"And what, uh, level of ... falling for you do you mean? Like simple attraction, puppy love, or ... ah, stalkersville level?"

Zora was pretty sure she had not looked him straight in the eye, and that any attraction she felt was not induced... However, there were a few other concerns on her part, and she thought she'd better ask before allowing herself to become involved at all with Stephan. She wanted to simply make sure he wasn't just a player of some sort even though her instinct told her he wasn't... the fact, he had not removed his glasses around her told her revealed a lot about him.

It was only a matter of time. Stefan didn't mind answering the questions presented before him. It was something concerning, especially if you didn't know how it worked.

"Well, it has to be direct eye contact. Once that's broken then the attraction stops. Hence the mirrored glasses."

The next question was a bit more complicated. A hand came up to his shaggy blonde hair and ran through it as he debated on how to answer it.

"It....uh... depends on the person. Depending on their sexual tendencies is how it affects them. Kids, for example, tend to see me as this awesome big brother. Adults that are attracted sexual to males end up almost immediately swooning over me."

He quickly raised his hands up defensively realizing what she might be thinking with a smile on his face.

"I promise i haven't intentionally done it to you...yet... remember the joke about the glasses coming off?"

Her sandwich forgotten for the moment, Zora picked at her fries while she quietly listened to Stephan without interrupting him.

"So it's not permanent or long-lasting then," Zora said as she searched Stephan's face, extremely curious now about the man behind the sunglasses, but definitely also feeling a lot more reassured and quite relieved knowing that he had not attempted (yet) to use his power on her.

"What would happen if someone who hated you looked directly at your eyes? Or if somebody was already attracted to you?" she asked as she dipped one of her fries in some ketchup.

Downing another bite of his burger, Stefan smiled at her questions. They weren't out of line and he was used to them.

"People who hate me still fall into the first categories. If they are sexually attracted to males..." Stefan snaps and continues "... instant swoon. If not then best bros."

The next one took him a minute to think about. What would happen if someone was already attracted to him and he made eye contact? He had never really thought about it.

"Well I guess it would still be the same, but like an over bearing urge maybe? That's a good one. Wanna find out?"

Stefan teased as a hand reached up to his glasses as if he was going to take then off.

"Are you sure you really wanna do that here, in public?" Zora grinned as she watched Stefan lift his hand to his glasses. She was pretty sure he was joking and wouldn't actually take his glasses off.

"You might end up with me serenading you or something equally as embarrassing," she warned.

"And for all you know, I'm attracted to men and women... So maybe you'd get a Zora instantly swooning over you and calling you mate or bro," she told him with a mischievous look on her face as she popped a fry into her mouth.

"If you were trying to dissuade me, it isn't working."

The thought of Zora being all over him while calling him bro brought a rare full smile to his face. He had to admit, the thought of taking them off and seeing how she would react was tempting, but it wasn't who he was.

"Public? Not here. After you've conned me into a real date? Maybe."

He lowered his hand back down and mocked popping a fry into his mouth just as Zora had.

"I can't be held liable for anything you do if they come off."

Zora just shook her head. "Oh, I fully intend to hold you accountable if I wake you and there's an article in the local newspaper titled, "Local businesswoman caught serenading new arrival to the island."

Then something occurred to her.

"Actually, " Zora said as she looked straight at Stepan. "Joking aside for a moment. Do people remember what they have done while mesmerized by your gaze?" she asked him. It was something she hadn't thought about til now.

Stefan thought for a moment. It had never been brought up if people remembered what they did. He assumed they did.

"I believe they do. It's not like I can MAKE them do anything. It's just what they would do if they were head over heels for me."

That was about as far as his own understand of the ability went. He had never been under its control before. He scratched his head a little while thinking about it. He quickly shot her a lopsided grin and held out his pinky. The classic sign of a pinky promise.

"I promise you though I won't use them on you intentionally unless you want me to."

Zora looked at his pinky finger with mock suspicion for a moment.

"Alright. I guess, I'll trust you..." she said as she linked her pinky through his. "But don't complain if you use it on me and I end up sending you curated boxes of cured meat and calling you bro," she remarked jokingly as she sealed the packed between them.

"I guess that also means I won't be getting a good look at those eyes of yours today... Kinda a shame actually since I am a sucker for light-colored eyes," she admitted a bit regretfully.

Zora actually was not quite sure if she was relieved or disappointed by Stephan's promise. Mainly because she did sort of wonder what it might be like to act on one's feelings like that. Her family was not generally affected by auras, and so, despite living on an island where a good number of folks had them, she never experienced there affects.
