Listening intently to the specials, Stefan knew exactly what he wanted when the waitress mentioned it. Courtesy however said he shouldn't order right away. Besides, if he was making a wrong choice, maybe Zora would help him out.

"I think I'm going with the burger special. Been craving one for a hot minute. Unless you have a recommendation?"

His smile reappeared as it often did. Adjusting the sunglasses a bit, he leaned back in the booth. That's when Stefan noticed her constantly making direct eye contact with him over and over again. It was as if she was trying to look through the mirror lenses.

Scanning the menu while Stefan talked, Zora looked to see if they had Montecristos. Seeing that they did, she smiled - although the smile was temporary. Turning the menu over, she doubled checked something - the menu had codes on it. The place catered to all species which was good ... however, a newcomer may not realise that, for instance, VF might actually be "vampire friendly" and not vegetarian friendly.

"No, that's a good choice. I was, ah, just checking to see if they had Montecristos," she explained as she looked at Stefan somewhat hesitantly... telling newcomers that things like human were on the menu was often something that was not well received at first. Maybe, she would leave it til afterward...

The smile that appeared on her face, while only briefly, was definitely noticed. Stefan enjoyed seeing people smile. The hesitancy with which she spoke to him caught his ear.

"Feel like you're holding back on something."

Stefan leaned forward slightly onto the table. Looking just above the rim of his glasses to get a bit better look at Zora. He did make sure to watch her eyes so if she looked in the direction of his icey blues he could keep them tucked behind the mirrored lenses, or avert them away slightly.

"So. Zora. What do you do?"

The question came nonchalantly. Very run of the mill for conversation, but had a sense of genuine curiosity to his voice. He wanted to know all he could about her to maybe get 'conned' into that date later.

Looking at Stefan sheepishly when she was caught out, Zora instinctively rested her forearms on the menu. "Not really holding out... more like withholding information til later," she explained.

"I don't want to make you squeamish, cause the food here is supposedly really good... but since I don't really know if you are human or not," she told him unabashedly. Zora did not really care about race, but she knew others often did. "I didn't want to tell you until later that many establishments serve, among other things, human meat here," she told him, an almost apologetic look crossing her features, afraid she may have ruined Stefan's appetite.

And when Stefan asked what she did for a living, Zora hesitated again. She never quite knew how to answer that without coming off as a rich socialite, entitled, or someone people wanted to pitch ideas too... All of which were a problem if she actually just wanted to spend time with someone whose company she enjoyed ... like right now for example.

"Actually, I am in finance," she finally said opting for an unassuming version of the truth. "I run a company here on the island," she added with a smile, not bothering to elaborate on the company itself or that it was a small part of a conglomerate she also owned.

An eyebrow perked up as she said they served human. So much so that it was easily seen over the rim of his sunglasses. It took as second, but after thinking about it Stefan twisted his lips together accepting.

"Makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. Im only part human. Father's side. Mother is a goddess....literally."

He leaned back away from the table and smiled to her as she told him she was in finance and ran a company. So she was attractive AND smart.

"That's awesome! I can barely get an apartment signed for much less run a whole business. Props to you!"

Stefan was impressed, but he felt like she was not letting loose like she had seemingly started to. He decided to try to find a way to change subjects when he could.

"Oh, wow... so you are a demigod?" Zora asked Stephan, visibly impressed by that. She did not know too many gods - well ones that were not clients - which was strange considering that the island was a hub for the supernatural.

Upon being complimented on being a competent business owner, Zora blushed slightly. It had been a while since somebody had actually considered what she did as an accomplishment, and she had to admit it felt nice.

Just as she was about to thank Stephan, the waitress reappeared to take their order.

"I'll have a Monte Cristo with ham and turkey, and side of fries," she said, stipulating what type of meat she wanted - just in case.

She then glanced at Stephan... "You wanted a beef burger, no?" she asked him questioningly.

"Spot on. Beef Cheeseburger, provolone if ya got it. If not anything else is fine. Side of fries as well."

He smiled to the waitress as she took their order and told them it would be out in a minute. Stefan turned his gaze back to Zora and noticed her cheeks still slightly red. Maybe he'd push the same subject a little longer but a different way.

"Demi-God. That's me. Greatest accomplishment in life is my mother being Freyja. Unlike Miss Successful Buisness lady here."

Something about her just seemed to have his lopsided grin permanently plastured to his face. Even after throwing a joke her direction it was still done in admiration. It was something Stefan dreamed of doing. Breaking away from his mother's shadow.

"Still definitely impressive... " Zora reiterated, a pleased smile now on her face from the second compliment. "Or ... at least in my opinion," she said as she sat back against the back of the booth and regarded Stephan openly and with real interest.

"My family is from a long line of forest druids... and Freiya is rumored to have been one of the gods that shared magic with men," she said, remembering some of the history she had learned as a young girl.

"So, technically, I owe her a debt of gratitude," she said as she looked at Stephan with a smile that was both teasing yet honest.

Stefan watched her intently as she told him a little more about herself. He leaned forward again, propping his elbows up on the table and placing his chin in his hands.

"I'll be sure to tell momsie you said thanks next time I'm home."

It was about then that the waitress came back with their food. Stefan leaned back giving her access to the table to set the food down. Stefan gave her a curt smile.

"Thank you."

He looked down at his food visually inspecting it, his ice blue eyes visible just behind the rims.

"But look at you. Didn't see forest druid. Nice surprise. Business savy. All wrapped up with a pretty face."

Checking out her own food when it came to the table, Zora lifted her head just in time to catch a brief glimpse once again of Stefan's icy blue gaze which he kept hidden behind the mirrored sunglasses and to which she was becoming ever more curious as to why.

"That's just because when one thinks druid, they automatically think, old men in long flowy robes," Zora laughed. "Not pretty young women in business attire," she added, definitely flattered by his compliments.

"I do have a question for you though," Zora said as she cut off a bite-sized piece of her sandwich. "Why do you hide those lovely ice blue eyes of yours? I thought you might be a vampire when we first met, but I'm guessing it's for other reasons?" she asked Stefan curiously.
