Shay looked closer at the necklace he had picked up. Green and shaped similarly to a jelly bean with one side tapered off to a sharper point. There were four white beads, two on either side, of the stone. Shay liked this necklace better than the others. It reminded her of magic and mystery as if its shape held power.

"That one is pretty," Shay agreed, unable to take her eyes off it.

Seeing her interest, Kenta smiled. Without a question or second thought, Kenta walked over to the shop owner and handed them the money for it. He turned around right after and handed her the necklace.

Shay was too shocked to debate with him, or stop him. When he came back and held the necklace out to her, she pinched it between forefinger and thumb and held it like a prize. She lifted her hair with one hand and held the necklace out to him. "Help me put it on?"

He nodded and took it again, walking around behind her. He brought it around her neck and clipped its chain links at the ends together. As soon as he had, he grabbed one of the mirrors the shop kept around and held it for her.

Shay looked at herself in the mirror. She met her own eyes. She still looked like herself, at least. "What does a Magatama represent?" Shay asked once she had inspected the stunning necklace.

Kenta shrugged. "Its some ancient treasure. I've seen it bunched with the Yata-no-Kagami, the Yata mirror shield, along with that sword I told you about. I dunno its stories off the top of my head though." He smiled. "Still, it looks pretty on you."

Shay reddened, and held the necklace to look down on it. "Thanks for buying it," she said once she was sure her voice wouldn't betray how touched she was about the entire thing. "Want to take a walk on the beach? I don't think anyone will be there this time of night."

Kenta happily nodded. "Sounds like a plan." He said, putting the mirror down and offering her his hand again.

Shay took it without hesitation this time. For the most part, she was silent on their walk to the beach, thoughtful and far off. Was this how friends behaved to one and other? It was odd. Why had he bought her the necklace, now she was going to have to give him something in return; a poem, maybe.

When their feet first touched the sand, that was when Shay noticed they'd gotten to their destination. She didn't lead him, content to follow for now. She had been mostly correct; the beach was empty save for some far off teenage couple making out in the sand.

He would give her an occasional smile as they walked, mostly to kill any tension the silence brought to him. Still, she was quiet, so he tried to remain so as well. It was a nice night, and though stars aren't as fun to him, he did rather enjoy the moon. It wasn't quite full this evening, but it was still bright in the sky. He had his head back as they walked, sometimes looking at the waves as they hit the shore, but mostly his eyes were up.
