"What else can we do about it?' Shay asked herself aloud. "I suppose we could bring him out, and I could try to talk to him to get more answers? I'm not sure he would. Er, you would, I mean. I don't know how to refer to it all. It's too weird for me." She huffed. "I don't understand why I don't hear the death whispers around you but I do around other you."
"I don't understand any of it... Maybe its because I'm a different person now. I'm Kenta. Not Gin Shi or whatever people called him..." He looked down, but then something clicked. "I doubt he will talk to you, but maybe the spirits know something?"
"The spirits...around him or just the spirits in general? I mean, I can speak to spirits so I could try." She wondered if Kenta talked to them too, but thought he must, if he were bringing them up now. It made her feel a little left alone, but truthfully, the idea that her powers were helping someone was...different. A good different.
"Any I guess.... Though, any spirits that would know about me... We would probably have to take a trip to find out. They'd be back around the shrine..." He had a moment of realization. "This... would explain why other Yokai would tend to avoid me... Humans thought I was something called a 'cosplayer', but I guess spirits knew better..."
"I can't go all the way to Japan," Shay said. "I couldn't leave the orphanage like that. And school. Also, I don't have a passport or anything." She held her breath, then pushed her shoulder to his gently. This was starting to stress her out.
"... Pass... Port?" He asked confused. "I... I'm pretty sure we could be there and back in a day if we wanted. Laetus does it all the time..." Come to think of it, how did Laetus do that? He never thought to ask until now... Something for later, he thought. "That said, the ones... The ones that only show up when he does... They probably know a lot."
"Yeah, a passport. It's so you can go to other countries." She frowned at the mention of going to Japan in a day. A day? It wasn't the most ridiculous thing she'd ever heard. She'd never left Manta Carlos, and she had no desire to tell Kenta how nervous the idea made her.
"I can't talk to the whispering," she said to him. "I would think if he had a spirit following him it would be following you, too, right?"
Kenta shook his head. "You would think so... I never see any spirits around me, or feel them even. They... Only appear with him I guess..." He thought for a moment, then "What if there are more there than just the whispers? Would you be able to focus enough to talk to them through it?"
"Maybe...I don't know. The only way to find out would be to try. I just wasn't prepared last time, so I was overwhelmed."
