Shay led them to neither of those locations. Instead, she took them to a tree with thick branches and began to climb. She winced when the stitches on her shoulder pulled, but it didn't stop her. She looked at him and motioned him to follow her up. "Relax, we're safe here. This is a spot I come to think."
Shay wasn't the best climber, she wasn't as good at it as she was running, but at the least she could do it without falling. When she climbed as high as possible, Shay sat on the tree, holding a separate branch for support as she looked out over the path. "Isn't it beautiful when you get to see it like this? Like, everything is untainted from up here. And safe."
Kenta sat beside her, his legs dangling. He smiled at her. "I knew you'd know some great places." He looked out at everything. The sun, finishing its decent for the day, left the sky bathed in a beautiful orange and red.
"Sometimes I come up here and lounge and read. That way no one bothers me and I don't have to worry about anyone sneaking up on me." Shay was staring starry-eyed at the sky, and it's changing colors. It reminded her of autumn, her favorite season. 'Sometimes, I wish I had a camera so I could document nights like this." She looked at him, for a moment her guard completely down and her smile brightened her face. She looked like a totally different person then.
Seeing her like this caught him off guard. She was smiling... Like a big, genuine, full of life smile. He blushed a bit and gave her a big happy smile in return. "It is a gorgeous view. Maybe we can get our hands on a camera and come back tomorrow?" He suggested. "I'm sure there's a photography class or something we can borrow from."
"I never thought about that," Shay said. Her smile fell some, but she didn't look as somber as normal. She leaned against the trunk of the tree, watching all the thin clouds. They weren't fluffy enough to make many pictures. They reminded her of spilled paint. "I like watching clouds more than stars. I always see more in them."
Shay didn't understand that. Did it have something to do with being a Kitsune? Or was it just the way his mind worked? It was an odd thing to say for sure. "Explain?" she said, the writer in her wanting more detail. He had her full attention; her dark eyes assessed him.
"Huh? Um..." He looked out at the sky again. "Like... I don't know. They... Always make the same pictures, even when the same constellations aren't out. I always see... Like, these certain few... I guess my mind just goes to them... The seven angels, Susanoo, Yamata-no-orochi... Oh, and kusanagi. I can almost always see that one." He shrugged. "They're well known stories back home, so it makes sense I guess..."
