Eumelia had always disliked being considered above others. It didn't bother her as much when it came to the major ones, but she'd never considered herself better than others.

"Yes, the Greek Gods were often viewed as flawless and above mortals, and how many things came of this", Eumelia began, before derailing the topic slightly: "however I do not actually believe there is such a thing as a 'perfect being'. Everybody has potentials in one way or another", she said. "However, nobody is worthless. As aforementioned, everybody has potential", she continued.

"It would appear you do not recognize yours."

Potential? No, he knew his potential, he'd seen it at work, "I know my potential, but I've chosen not to reach for it, as it was unpleasant." His showed a flash of another emotion, trouble, doubt, inner conflict, "I've accepted what I can be now, and unfinished snake thing, perhaps it's not much, but it is for the best." He didn't want to be an assassin, and he was afraid that all he ever could be.

The supernatural interested him, because he viewed himself as an unfinished being, not person. His tongue flicked, "I thank you though, you're very kind," his face didn't show the gratitude, but his eyes did, an odd mixture of sadness and happiness.

"You are a muse diety correct?" he motioned to her notebook, "I saw you were writing. Stories? Poetry? Those are amazing things to strive to toward, to create worlds with words." He passed the final note to her, remembering how he was made to harm, to destroy, how he feared it would always be his purpose.

"Unfinished snake thing".

Sympathy came along with curiosity now. Eumelia felt genuinely bad for Joran, though all she did was nod. Reading the notes, she realized that he didn't seem to consider himself a person. Was this from his unwanted potential? Or something else?
Eumelia thought it would be rude or emotional for Joran to ask, so she focused on the other note.

"I do indeed write poetry. I do it quite a lot as a hobby.", she said. She considered the next sentance. "While it is often said you can make entire worlds, I believe you can make much more than that", she said. "Emotions, beliefs, natures, these can all be turned into words with the right hand."

She glanced at her notebook, still flipped open. Nobody had ever actually seen her writing before, and she began to worry slightly about what people would think of it. It'd always been just her since coming down here. The peacefulness was nice, but she'd nearly wanted others to see her writing; wasn't that the purpose of it?

"Natures?" he asked, his eyes shinning with a question, "that is interesting." He looked to her notebook, many questions running through his head. "I've written anything, I doubt I'm able create anything of interest. So I focus on reading, enjoying the works of others, it's bit odd, enjoying but never creating."

His tongue automatically flicked again, "I have another question, perhaps two, if you dont mind." He looked at her, "you spoke of natures, and how one can take it and use to create poetry, to form the words."

"So here is my question, why do you think, you like writing?" it was a simple question, but he had a second ready, one that would would make it a bit more harder to answer.

Joran did seem a bit more of a reader than a writer. "I see. Enjoying the work of others is pleasant as well; that would be the purpose of writing, after all: to let others enjoy it. Though writing as wonderful as well", Eumelia said. This was slightly hypocritical, but she still did enjoy to look at others' works and accomplishments.

The question made her think for a second or two. Why did she like writing? "Perhaps it is because I enjoy to create", she started. "It is a nice way to express yourself; it satisfies something inside", she continued. Although, she couldn't say that she enjoyed to show everyone her creation; there was some doubt in her, deep down, about that.

"You implied you had another question?" she asked, curious of what he was pondering.

He listened quietly, nodding as she spoke, it was a good answer, "Yes, to create is something special. Many can destroy, creation is rarer." It was odd, they'd carried out quite the conversation, with half of it being in notes, a few passing people gave them odd looks.

"Yes my second question," he tapped his finger on his pile of books, "you spoke of nature, one of the books spoke of such a thing, something in us that dictates things, who and what we are." He looked back, "I am unnatural being, yet nature does interest me."

"You gave a good answer, and prefer it, but I have alternative in the form of my question," he tilted his head, mixed feelings appearing in his eyes, "what if you like creating, because it is in your very nature?"

The question flipped Eumelia's perspective on its head. She'd come here to be independent and doing things of her own. The thought that even her hobbies were completely influenced.. nearly disturbed her. Was she truly independent? Or was she eternally bound?

"I..." She paused a moment before continuing. "I am not sure. It may be, however.. I would like to think otherwise. I came here to discover and enjoy independently, though if something like that was not my own choice.." She didn't finish. She wasn't sure why; either she didn't need to or she couldn't.

She glanced at her notebook for a moment before looking back at Joran. Perhaps she was taking this a bit too seriously, but more doubt began to come to her. She wondered just how individualistic she really was.

He listened quietly, or more correctly without interrupting her with notes and then nodded. "Nature, potential, purpose, there often viewed as one and the same, or at least heavily connected," his note said as he looked at her with his intelligent reptilian eyes.

"I was told that my nature/purpose/potential had been chosen for me, that there was no way of changing it," he tilted his head, his eyes a little sad, "as I told you, I rejected it, and I came here," he flicked his tongue.

"This island," he motioned around him, "it has things that show that people like you, you can choose. Demons living among angels, gods among devils." His eyes still looked sad, "I was made to be something, my very existence, my DNA, my nature, it was all brought together. So a thing like me cannot choose, I can only ignore it, a person like you can choose. So don't worry, you'll find your independence."

Eumelia read the notes quickly, then looking at him with slightly sympathetic eyes. Joran'd tried to change, and decided he couldn't, that it was in his DNA; his purpose. Though there was another aspect to life as well.

"That may be the case, but there is more to life than that.", Eumelia said. "Perhaps just enjoy the experiences. Enjoy the people you meet; take joy in the things you do", she said.

"Perhaps why I like to write does not matter, but rather that I do. I take joy in it, and that is all that is needed to know", she added.
