He fiddled with the leather bracelet in his hands, he'd yet to to try it on, to test it's enchantment, he wanted to wait for her to get home. Ash had it all planned out, already filled the basket with food and drink for them both.

The young vampire checked the time on his phone as he waited for his girlfriend to return. He wanted to show her, for both of them to see it work the first time he tries it on. It'll be the first time in a long time that he'll be able to feel the the sunshine without the burn. @Lucidity

Today had been a bit of a stressful day for Maisie Belle. From barely finishing her homework in time to turn it in to spilling her lunch all over her brand new blouse to getting cat-called on her way home, Maisie was tired and just wanted to loosen up and relax for a little while.

She bit her lip as she walked through the dorm building, her backpack slung almost lazily over one of her shoulders. Was her boyfriend going to be busy working again now that school was done? Being around him was something Maisie enjoyed, and she hoped she'd be able to see him and forget about all the day's troubles. His eyes just so happened to have that effect on her and she loved it.

Shifting her bag off her elbow, Maisie opened the door to their dorm and tossed the backpack off to the side where they kept their shoes. After kicking off her boots as well, she glanced over and scanned the dorm room, quickly spotting her boyfriend. "Ash, hey!" she said with a relieved smile. "I thought you were gonna be gone again for work. What's up?"

Ash found himself grinning when she entered, she always brightened his day, made things better when they got hard. "Nope, just had to pick some things up," walking over to her he'd give her a quick kiss and gently pinch her cheek, "just a few things for tonight."

He'd gesture to the picnic basket on the coffee table, "it's been warming up, so I thought I'd take you on a picnic." Ash would flash a small playful grin, "didn't think you'd mind, us getting out, enjoying the spring air."

The young vampire's hands continued to fiddle with the bracelet, "whatcha think? I already got it stocked with food, your aunt even gave us a pie to share." He'd give her cheek a kiss, and gave her his little smirk that he knew she loved.

Maisie went to return the kiss, but she found her cheek unfairly pinched instead. She huffed and lightly smacked him on the arm before pinching his cheek back so she could peacefully return the kiss to his lips. "Tonight?" Her eyes went past him towards where he was gesturing.

"Ooh, a picnic! No, I don't mind going out with you at all! And you even got one of Aunt Pam's pies..." Maisie hummed and snuck over to the picnic basket (even though she was in full view of Ash) to poke at the lid. "Yeah, I guess we can go right now. I'm just gonna go freshen up in the bathroom real quick so I don't smell like sweat the whole time we're out. Don't make for a very good date if you're gagging the whole time."

She started for the bathroom and glanced back. "That enough time for you to get your coat and gloves?" she called just before stopping in front of the bathroom mirror. She hollered out, "I'm real excited; this is awful sweet of you, Shortcake! How long've you been thinkin' about this?"

"Yeah, plenty of time," he'd flash her a fangy grin and waited until she was in the bathroom before he slipped over to the curtains. "I've been planning it for a while, actually tried making a pie myself but it didn't really work out," he'd continue talking to her.

He'd stand besides the curtains and would very carefully open them, making sure to stay out of the light, "I wanted to surprise you with the picnic and one other thing." Ash would wait for her to return, his hands still fiddling with the leather sun charm bracelet, he was nervous but also excited for this.

"I..uh...wanted you to see me try it," he told her once she returned, without any context. "So....," taking a breath he'd put the bracelet on and slowly stick his hand into the sunlight, there was no burn, not even a little, there was just the warmth of the sun. He'd blink in surprise despite having known what it would do, then slowly he'd step into the sun, closing his eyes as he did. "I...it's a sun charn," he'd take a breath, a few tears streaming down his cheeks, "s-sorry..it's just...I'd forgotten how it was supposed to feel..the warmth."

"Oh yeah? You must've put a lot of thought into this," she said as she made sure her hair was in order. She swiped her deodorant stick under her arms and tossed it back into the drawer before stepping back outside. Her eyes carefully scanned the room to see where the vampire boy went, "One other thing?"

Maisie's eyes landed on Ash as he started to reach into the sunlight. "Shortcake, no!!" She barreled across the room and nearly body-slammed him, were it not for the fact that she could've sworn he'd be screaming in pain right now if the sun touched him. She slowed down, but wasn't able to slow down fast enough to avoid a rough impact as she tightly wrapped her arms around the boyfriend she thought was going to try and hurt himself.

"Ash," she whispered, squeezing him and swallowing the knot in her throat. She gently stroked his head before letting him go as he stepped away, into the sunlight. Her eyes were watering too, but she stubbornly blinked them back. This was Ash's moment right now. "A sun charm...I'm so happy for you, Shortcake. I'd smile and kiss you right now, but I wanna cry too--I know this means so much to you, I'm so glad."

Taking a breath bed wipe the tears away, a smile appearing on his face, "sorry, didn't mean to break down like that," he hadn't expected himself to have such an emotional reaction. "Wanted to use so we can have a picnic today," he'd grin and step over to her, pulling her into a hug, "double surprise."

Pulling back a bit, he'd brush some hair from her face and kiss her "maybe the hill above your aunt's place, nice spot for us to look down on everything." He'd gently lean his forehead against hers, "eat some pie, look up at the clouds, it'll give us a chance to to talk, get to know each other better."

He'd picks up the basket with one hand, keeping the other around her waist, "whatcha Maisie Dukes?" he'd flash that grin again, "wanna have a romantic picnic with me?"
