[note: This post is about things going on at Everything Nice cafe. People are free to sit down and talk to other people or the available waiters, just indicate who you want your post to address at the beginning of the post. (Put "open" if you want a random person to wait on you or if you want a random person to talk to your characters.) I control the NPC proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Nice, and two of the waiters, Hari and Kimiko. Also, if you want your character to be a waiter/waitress, just PM me or tell me on CBOX, I'll get to it!]

At ten in the morning, Mr. and Mrs. Nice opened up the cafe.

When one enters the establishment, they'll be greeted with the lovely wafting scent of pressed mocha and freshly baked goods. The cafe is ornately decorated with curious knickknacks but still impeccably clean. If one checked the board, they'll notice that the cake for the day is Strawberry Shortcake, but there are other available cakes, such as Custard, Apple Walnut and Chocolate. Everything Nice was nothing short of paradise to those who could afford it.

Waiter: Hari Takahiro (shift 10AM - 2PM)

Hari was glad to get away from his bedroom for once.

It wasn't that Hari disliked being with Sebastian. Quite the opposite, in fact. He was crazy about him. He could recognize it — the feeling of being on the edge of a cliff, with hesitation being the only thing preventing him from falling face first into love.

Which... proved to be a problem. One minute he would be thinking of him, how pretty he was and how he drove him crazy, the next he would be worrying about the complications of their relationship. Were they dating? Was it strictly carnal? Was it just strictly carnal, but exclusive? He wasn't sure he liked the idea of the last one. Being a kid these days was incredibly trying. He was expending all of his energy into thinking about this and, if he was going to formally acknowledge it, it was officially ruining his Academic life.

At least he looked good in the vest Mrs. Nice made for him. It was a slick, form fitting vest with golden ornate patterns. She said she liked his style, and he would be more attractive if he continued on with his golden jewelry.

He sighed, stepping outside of the employee lounge to actually go do his job. He stood next to the pastries, waiting for someone to ask for him.

Waiter: Kimiko Young (shift 4PM - 8PM)

Kimiko was late for work again.

It wasn't her fault! She found a girl outside school and she was asking about directions downtown. The sun was setting, and she had to make sure she got there. Thinking about it, it was actually a poor excuse, but it was so much grander when it happened in the present. She had to make a sprint to the cafe and change in less than five minutes. A co-worker had to put her hair in a bun.

When she came out all dressed and handsome in the waiter's uniform, a group of girls at the next table squealed excitedly. She waved at them, but stood next to the pastries to wait for actual orders.

Waiter: Wei Hu Sun (shift: 1 PM - 5 PM)

Wei was excited to be working. Especially since it was at a place that served sweets. He learned later that he wasn't allowed to eat the food that they served there unless there were rejects or leftovers from the day before. It was nice that they even let him eat anything at all, especially considering that he had to skip lunch to make it to his shift.

Entering the sweets shop, he trotted to the employee lounge to change into his waiter's outfit. He'd had to get it remade a little--he needed space for his tail, and accommodation for the fact that he wasn't even 5 feet tall yet--but at this point in time, it fit pretty well. After adjusting himself a little in the mirror, he trotted out of the Employee lounge, moving to stand near the pastries.

Apparently he looked very cute in a tiny waiter's uniform, if the cooing from the people already enjoying their pastries were anything to go by.

Ah well.

Customer: Mz'sid So-kijak [open]

Sid walked into the place at about noon for lunch. He'd heard a lot about this place, and even though he was the kind of guy who knew his limits, that kind of thing didn't usually apply to sugar.

He was nuts about it, despite what he looks like. At least that's what other people have told him. Apparently he looks like the kind of guy who would knife you for even insinuating that he takes his coffee any way other than black, the kind of guy that would smash something against the floor if he even tasted the smallest granule of sugar.

But in reality, Sid loved sugar. According to all his friends and anyone who's had to deal with him after he's had too much, he likes it too much. But fuck those guys, right--he was an adult, he could do what he wanted.

He walked over to an empty table and dropped heavily into the seat, bringing up one of his legs and waiting for a waiter or waitress. Either would work for him.

Hari Takahiro

And that was one of his tables!

Hari took a couple of menus off the counter and walked over to the handsome drow's table. He gave him a charming smile as he handed him the menus. One was their regular menu, the other was promotional stuff for cheaper combos: Buy this kind of coffee and you'll get a cupcake free. Stuff like that.

"Welcome to Everything Nice, sir. I'll be your server." He winked, before pulling out a notepad and his pen. "What can I get you?"

He wasn't sitting there lazily for long before someone came to serve him. He was a pretty waiter in a pretty vest with gold accents. Sid returned the wink and wore a half smile as he looked over the menu front and back. He'd heard a lot about this place and the sweets that they kept on stock. He wasn't the hugest fan of coffee himself--he personally couldn't stand the taste--but they had tea too.

The drow turned the menu over again. "I'd like a cup of Oolong Tea and a slice of strawberry shortcake... I also wanted to order your phone number but I'm disappointed to see that's not on the menu."

Hari Takahiro

Hari chuckled, jolting it down. "It's a Special, but it might be available later today."

He looked at his notepad. "One Oolong tea and Strawberry Shortcake coming right up. Good choice. The Strawberry Shortcake's one of our bestsellers." He took the menus back and gave Sid a small bow before heading behind the counters. He told someone behind there about the order, so they took the Strawberry Shortcake from the display and began slicing a piece with a clean knife while Hari rummaged the shelves for the tea. They were pretty efficient, so it barely took five minutes to prepare.

Hari headed back to the table. "Here's your Strawberry Shortcake and Oolong Tea, sir."

He started setting the items down in an aesthetically pleasing manner, with the Strawberry Shortcake near the customer with the pointy end facing diagonally and the tea not far away. A lot of their customers liked to take pictures of the food. Sid didn't look like the type that would Instagram his food, but it was a good habit to keep anyway.

Most customers that ate alone deserved the company of their servers, Mrs. Nice told him. Hari supposed there were worse things than conversing with an attractive drow. He gestured at the seat in front of him, asking for permission if he should let him sit.

"Aw, you should have told me there were off-the-menu specials," Sid said, handing off the menu to his waiter and placing his hand on the table in front of him, devoting his attention to Hari. "I would have come later in the day then."

When Hari walked off to put his order in, Sid decided to pass some time by cleaning out the messages that seemed to perpetually accumulate in his phone. He responded to most of the messages glibly, but gave actual responses to a few people, like people who'd he'd given his number to by choice instead of people who had just happened to figure out his number because someone else told them.

(God he hated that, why the hell would you give someone someone else's number?)

His food came back surprisingly quickly, and Sid slid his phone back into his pocket, smiling at Hari and gesturing to the seat, communicating that he could sit there.

"So. My name's Mz'sid. You can call me Sid." He said, giving his tea small stir before taking a sip. It tasted pretty good. "What should I call you?"

Hari Takahiro

"Thank you," he said softly, taking a seat across Sid. He pointed at the name tag on his chest. "Hari. I'm a student at SA. I'm guessing you go there too?"

He noticed his piercings and tattoo. They were all so colorful and vibrant, and he only knew of one parlor that did that kind of stuff. "Did you get those neat piercings and tattoos at Own Me? They're pretty great. Thorn, their tattoo artist, is a miracle worker."

"Hari. Hari, huh?" He said, feeling how the name felt to say. It was soft and easy, and pretty fun to wrap his tongue around. Sid had a thing about names. See, he'd learned a lot about the feeling of people's names, and who much that could describe them as people. Of course it was silly to say that the name your parents gave you when you came kicking and screaming into this world was the end all be all of who you would be...

But the way a name formed on the tongue could give a lot of interesting hints. And he was getting quite a few interesting hints from 'Hari'.

All of a sudden, the topic shifted to the vibrant tattoo on his arm. "Yeah, she's amazing that woman." He grasped the fork, cutting into his strawberry shortcake with the side and taking his first bite. It was pretty good, and equal parts light and fluffy, and heavy and rich. "There was some other guy at the same time as me... wanted a tattoo of his girlfriend's silhouette filled with lightning."

Thorn was a miracle worker, but she could only do so much. A gaudy-ass concept only results in a gaudy-ass tattoo, same as piercing.

"But that means you've got some ink too, I bet." He put down his fork, smiling at Hari. "Can I see? Or is this another one of those off the menu specials?"

Hari laughed. He looked around for anybody watching, and aside from a girl occasionally glancing at their table, Mr. and Mrs. Nice were nowhere in sight.

He made a shushing gesture with his finger and undid the top two buttons of his button-up shirt. He pulled the collar to the left side and it revealed a beautiful stylistic tattoo of a sun that incorporated the elegant curves and patterns of Indian Mehndi. It was a tattoo of his own design, and needless to say, Thorn was more than enthusiastic to do the lovely pattern when she saw it.

He fixed his shirt again, patting it a little to make sure he looked as neat as earlier. "I'm usually very sickly but recently I've been feeling better, so I got a tattoo to celebrate." He shrugged. "I'm not... spontaneous like this all the time. But recently..."

He smiled fondly, leaning back against his chair. He was already quite fond of wearing gold. He associated it with his mother's jewelry, but now he associated it with Sebastian's lovely hair, too. "I guess things are turning out for the better, so I got a sun, because I feel like my life's just going to get brighter and brighter. Ah, that was cheesy and personal. I apologize."

Sid leaned back in his chair, watching the waiter on the other side of the table look around furtively, as if he was smuggling something. Maybe he was hiding a few grams of pure hotness under his shirt.

The drow pressed his own finger to his midnight lips, his eyes trained on Hari. And when he slid his collar to the side and he saw the goldness of a stylized sun, Sid couldn't help but think 'well, I wasn't wrong'.

"Congratulations then on not being sickly anymore, cutie." He said, lifting his cup of tea towards Hari almost as if he was toasting to him, bringing the cup to his lips and sipping down the remainder of his tea, setting it carefully onto its saucer as quietly as he could. Manners were important.

Hearing the story behind his tattoo, Sid couldn't keep a grin off his face. He loved it when people had good tattoos with good stories behind them. Even an ugly tattoo somehow looked a little less absolutely terrible when it had a sweet, heartfelt meaning behind them.

"Don't worry about it. I'm not doing anything else but listen with these ears." He said, giving them a slight twitch.

"I wish mine had a meaning as deep as yours," he said with a grin. "It was something I got sorta on a whim." He turned the tattoo to look at it. "The grin is my favorite, personally."
