"What? No that isn't what I meant. I just meant that unless you have a really hot forge tucked away somewhere on you, you wouldn't be able to break me down to deliver... eh nevermind."

But something about what she said did get the gears in Masami's head grinding. He sipped his drink contemplatively, drumming his fingers against his knee and generating a muffled musical ding each time.

"Is that something you can do? Reforge weapons?"

"Please. I'm Asteria fucking Vrall. I can do whatever I want."

The redhead gave a small laugh, taking another sip of her drink before setting it down. "Okay, objectively speaking... I'm not a blacksmith by trade. I'm an artificer so I do create magical items and modify their properties accordingly but by no means am I able to reforge you through simple smelting. There'd be a process to the whole thing. I'd have to analyze and break down your magical signatures- your code, if you will, and script that out in its entirety. Once I had the code, I could attempt to modify your magical properties into something less eccentric murderer and more... lazy bum pacifist? Or whatever you desire, I'm bored and this sounds fun."

She took another sip before continuing. "As for your physical shape and the divine metal, depending on what you want to be reforged into, I'd have to get a very good blacksmith of some kind to get your shaping proper. I mean, if you have the patience, I could spend the next ten years or so practicing and mastering the blacksmithing arts but it's pretty apparent you don't have that kind of time. There's also the possibility of how this could change you entirely. I don't know what exactly happens when you reforge a sentient god-level artifact sword... It's very possible that Masami Itou could seize to exist entirely and you'd have no recollection of what you used to be."

"...Is that something that you wouldn't mind if it came to that? A chance at freedom as a new being in exchange for your 'life', so to speak?"

Masami sat and listened. He couldn't do much else, save for the occasional amused snort at Asteria's antics and brashness. He liked that kind of attitude, if it could be backed up with actual skill.

Once she was done speechifying at him though, he took another moment to refill his drink and take another sip from his cup. "I mean. I'd want to remember some things, for certain. I'd need some time to think about that. But I think, if it helps me get past these bounty hunters... it might be worth it anyway."

Masami gave Asteria a sidelong glance, pursing his lips together. "Can I consider your offer, and get back to you once I've gotten a second opinion? I can also find a smith if that helps. I've lived here for a while now, and I know a few people who might have the tools that can work. And if I say no, we can do this whole game over again."

Asteria nodded. It was pretty reasonable, all things considered. Having to give up everything that made you you was a hefty toll to consider. She couldn't imagine having to go full clean slate. She'd already seen what that was like once before and it was frankly a little jarring. With a small sigh, she downed the rest of her sake and set the cup down on the side of the ring.

"I suppose there's nothing else we can do. You're taking the fact that I wanted to abduct you pretty well. It is what it is. Perhaps I can look into some sort of memory scan for you? I'm not certain it would be totally accurate but perhaps we could store a copy of your memories before we tried the procedure? I imagine it'd be like reading a book of sorts... You'd have the memory but they'd feel second-hand..." She trailed off, muttering to herself for a moment.

"I'll ask around. If you have a blacksmith you can trust, I think this could be a very interesting idea to play with. And I worry that our game would not be nearly as fun the next time. I'm aware that in a combat situation that I don't stand a feasible chance. Surprise was key and now that's gone so... who knows?" With careful movements, she shifted to stand on the warehouse floor.

"So, you have my number. Contact me when you're ready to try... or if you need assistance with other hunters. I'm sorry to say but this whole plan is too interesting for you to get abducted now." She grinned, then looked to her bag on the floor nearby. The bag was quickly returned to her shoulder and she gave an almost expectant look to the sword.

"Care to escort a lady to the door?"

"I'd be a poor sword if I didn't," Masami said with a small, tired smile as he stood up from his seat and offered his hand to help Asteria down. "I'll figure something out and call you when I've got an idea in my head."

Masami led Asteria to the door, thanking her for her time and wishing her a pleasant rest of her day - as he did with all his clients. Once he was alone, he stood in the silence for a minute, waiting until he was sure she was gone.

He swung his arm, a deep gash appearing along the entire perimeter of the warehouse - a straight, clean line just above door level like the stroke of an artist's pen. He swung again, cleaving the ropes of the boxing ring closest to himself. And again, bisecting the stack of truck tires and sending the halves scattering to the floor. He stabbed the floor and the ceiling, smashed the bottle of sake- sending the rest of it spilling onto the floor, and when he was panting and tired from all the destruction, Masami screamed.
