This year was Elizabeth's first time enrolling in a Power class, in a classroom setting and all, in her entire life. The school year has just started and it was difficult to adjust to these modern rooms and equipments, but she had been around for a month or two now and she's become better at just 'rolling with it'— 'it' being the things she didn't know that others already found ordinary.

The class she enrolled in had a mixture of students with different ages and appearances. Some, she found, apparently didn't have as much control over their powers as she did. That's what this class was mostly about after all, to help them control their powers, or help them get better at it.

Elizabeth probably didn't need to take it if it weren't required.

So she was mostly there to help their instructor if something went wrong. She was a healer after all, and she'd be their fastest first aid if ever someone got injured (unfortunately she can only do until first aid when they were inside a lifeless building instead of being in nature where mana was abundant). That wasn't what happened. The chamber-- 'gym', they called it-- was quite spacious for all of them, but the class got too chaotic at some point.

One suddenly fell and began to scream in agonizing pain.

Elizabeth and the instructor rushed over to check what was wrong. No physical injuries. Elizabeth checked for signs of internal bleeding, but there was none of that either. The instructor, of course, knew about one of the students' ability to cause this. And apparently, only the hurting student's nerves dictated pain, but he wasn't exactly injured. The class was dismissed as the instructor took the student to the infirmary to rest and let it pass. Elizabeth, meanwhile, searched for the person who inflicted the pain.

She approached a thin girl with black curly hair as everyone else dispersed.

"Hello," she greeted softly, not wanting to startle her. "Um... what happened back there, I'm certain you didn't mean it..."

Minna had been given what she needed for her training. It was a device of some sort. She didn't know if it was magical or mechanical but it was a device that they said could help her. She didn't understand much of why either. However Minna had adamantly refused to use her ability on any living thing. This device had 2 lights on it, one red and one green. It was told to her that the red light would light up if she could get her ability to stop working. Normally it was used the other way around to see if an ability was working.

But for Minna she wanted it to turn red, she needed for it to turn red. If it didn't than it would mean that she had wasted another power class trying to learn simply where the 'off' switch was. As she sighed and tossed the device to the ground poutily she put her head in her hands. Nearly two whole years of being pretty much alone on the island and she had seen no progress with this same cursed device.

With a sigh she leaned down to try to pick it up when another hand shot forward and got there before she did, however as their hands touched while on the device Minna looked up in shock and worry. It was one of her fellow student, one who just had wanted to help, and he was now laying on the floor feeling every nerve he could telling him they were in pain. Tears welled up in her eyes as people began to turn and look over in her direction. She couldn't help him, she wished she could help him. Crying silently she knew the only way to not be potentially harmful to him was to get farther away. If he touched her again it would just start over. Grabbing her snow white shoulder length gloves she had bought for herself she put them on while she tried to get away from everyone.

Eventually she was facing away from the crowd in one of the corners of the room. She didn't want to hurt anyone else. After a while she heard distantly that the instructor was dismissing the class and she could hear the other student talking loudly as they began to file out of the room. Still with her back turned she heard someone talking to her. "He...he was... trying to help.." Minna was trying to talk through her hiccups from trying to repress her sobs. "I...I didn't have... my... my gloves on... for... to practice... I... I touched... his hand..." Tears began to fall from her cheeks in earnest now. She couldn't help it now. "I don't want to hurt people."

"Oh... Oh dear..."

Oh dear, indeed. Realizing the girl was crying, Elizabeth felt herself panic some. She already expected that such an ability wouldn't be a good thing for its user if there was problem controlling it, that was natural, but for her to cry so hard like this in a corner... It must have already caused her too many misfortunes and sadness in the past, that's what Elizabeth thought at least.

Hesitantly, the golden-haired girl walked closer, wanting to rub her classmate's back to comfort her but at the same time unsure whether it was safe to do so or not. After all, even though Elizabeth naively believed she'll be okay after being touched, she still knew that such an occurrence would only cause more distress to the other girl. But she noticed the gloves not long after, and thought maybe fabric stopped her ability from seeping out accidentally.

There's a remedy, at least. But as the incident just now proved, keeping the gloves didn't make the problem go away entirely. To be safe, Elizabeth didn't do anything rash, but she still shortened their distance.

"He'll be alright," Elizabeth assured her. "The staff will be able to do something about it, I'm certain! And... It isn't as if you killed him. It was an accident, you didn't do it intentionally." She wasn't certain such assurances helped, but they were the truth, and she hoped they were enough to distract the other girl from crying.

She didn't quite know her name yet. "What's your name? I'm Elizabeth. Please, don't cry anymore. It will be alright." She offered a bright smile, hoping it would cheer the other up.

Minna was still curled up in on herself, her arms wrapping around her legs. Still crying quietly she listened this the other girl as she spoke. Though Minna already knew that the boy was going to live, and that she didn't do it intentionally. Why would she have done it intentionally? Tears rolled down her cheeks some more and she tried to scrub them away. "I... i'm... *sniff* I'm Minna... Minna Snow." When she turned to look at the girl talking to her and saw her friendly smile it made Minna smile, even if she was still crying.

"Thank you... I.... I don't have many friends... Thank you. I appreciate someone actually coming to talk to me." She blinked her tears out of her eyes. "You're the... the teacher's assistant?" Minna had seen the girl walking around before in the classes. Though she didn't know if Elizabeth actually was the TA as she didn't remember the Teacher actually saying that they had a TA.

"Nice to meet you, Minna! Uhm... Here." Elizabeth quickly fished for her handkerchief in one of her uniform's pockets and held it out to Minna. It was plain white, and it smelled of clean soap. Soap that smelled really good was one of the best things there were in the modern world.

She then scooted closer, not too close that might make Minna self-conscious or anxious, but close-- even closer than before. She kept her smile on her face, glad that it at least rubbed off on the other. "Well... I'm a student just as you are. It only happens that I'm already good at my abilities, so I volunteered to help out in case the teacher needed assistance. But when we get to power training to strengthen ourselves, I'll definitely be more participative!"

Training to become stronger-- the thought was thrilling. But it wasn't as thrilling as the thought of having yet another new friend. So she spoke of it, not in the least worried that Minna would think differently. "I'll be your friend, Minna! Then we'll get to talk about all kinds of things, and I'll do my best to keep you from crying while we're together."

She stood up and extended her hand, hoping Minna would take it. Well... she didn't mind if she didn't after that incident, but she had the gloves and... hopefully she'd take it. "Class has ended minutes ago. How about getting some fresh air and sunlight?"

Minna gave a sad smile as Elizabeth handed her what she learned by the smell was a scented handkerchief. Taking it carefully even with her gloves on she used it only to wipe away her tears. She sniffed once and she felt a little bit better. Some of her despair had been because every time someone had tried to help her so far ended up hurt by Minna accidentally. Though most of those had been them trying to help Minna with something and she hadn't known about it.

Even still after 2 years of being at the school Minna had few and far between friends... some not even that more just people she could potentially put a name to a face in the hall way and say hi in passing. Here however she was talking to someone for an extended period of time and they were being careful not to upset her more. It was lifting Minna's spirit very effectively. "Thank you, I would like to have a friend to talk to. And a walk would probably be a good option right now." Standing and brushing off the back of her dress Minna offered Elizabeth her handkerchief back.

Elizabeth beamed even brighter once Minna stood up. She, however, held up her hand at the handkerchief, not taking it, and told her, "Please keep it with you for now. You need it more than I do." In case things go awkward later, at least it was a reason for them to see each other and talk.

Elizabeth led Minna out of the hall. She didn't exactly know what the girl's schedule was, so she stopped the moment they got out. The sunlight outside was bright and warm and so full of energy, and it was a type of warmth that Elizabeth has always loved and longed for. She was, after all, at times unable to go outside for a stretch of many days or even weeks, especially back when she didn't have her silver cuff yet.

On that note, she remembered her very first friend on the island. He told her to take care of her cuff, and she's done so pretty well until now. Friends were great. Minna was yet another friend she was in the process of getting acquainted with, and this time, she wanted to be in the giving end rather than the receiving end when it came to moral and emotional support, advice, and any sort of cheering up she'd have to do.

"Do you need to be anywhere else at the moment?" she asked. They were standing outside, and since most people had classes, the area around them was pretty quiet. "It's my free time, so I can stay with you for the time being."

Minna gave Elizabeth a nod with her smile as she held the handkerchief in her hands and gave a soft "Thank you." As they walked out into the hall of the building. Elizabeth asked if she had anything she had on her scheduled next but Minna only shook her head slightly. "No, I've got a free period right now. But I wouldn't mind if we could talk for a little. I... I don't have any real friends right now and I'd like to know more about you if that's alright." Minna gave a slight blush at how awkward she was being right now.

"Could we go outside and sit under the shade? I think the fresh air would help me calm down a bit more." Minna made sure Elizabeth was okay with it before beginning to walk towards the outside, this didn't mean that she stayed silent though. Still holding Elizabeth's handkerchief in both of her hands Minna spoke up. "D-do you read much Elizabeth? I... I like to read a lot..." Minna blushed a bit more. It had been a while since she had any real conversations with anyone outside of the class room.
