"No questions? Excellent, clearly I'm a good speaker." Liun cracked a joke with a grin. He rolled his eyes the tiniest bit at Ava and James' additional comments, but since he was now speaking, he'd just have to get back to it at some other time. He noted the current crowd. He knew both James and Ava had heat and fire related abilities, but he didn't know Bastet, Neon and Symlink. Could just be interested.

With an inhale, Liun continued speaking in a professional attitude. "Starting off, you probably think this is just about fires, right? Well, we will be covering some of the common ways fires can start, but we'll also discuss situations created by usage of powers." Liun gave a subtle look at James. "Additionally, we'll also be talking about other situations that we're called for, and again, what can arise due to powers, and what to, or not to, do in such scenarios." As he spoke, he slowly paced while his hands gestured to enunciate his words.

"To start off, there are three factors for a fire to start." Liun held up three fingers on his gloved hand. "A fuel source, oxygen, and an ignition." He lowered a finger for each he spoke out. "This gives you an idea how fires can start, then. Now obviously, here on planet Earth, we need oxygen, so there's not much we can do there. But let's say you've got some faulty wiring, exposed to the air. Those wires can do sparks, which is an ignition, that initial heat needed for fire. If you've got dry clothes nearby, they're gonna catch those sparks and be the fuel. Very quickly, that flame is gonna spread." Liun held a serious expression as he spoke, making sure to look upon the room as often as he could. "Cigarettes, cooking, heating equipment, anything that can produce heat or a spark can be an ignition. Fuels can be papers, wood, clothes, plantlife, anything dry that is open to that heat source and the air."

He paused, letting his words to be processed by those listening. "Feel free to raise your hand if you have questions." Liun crossed his arms, his pacing steps having stopped. "If there's none so far, I'll continue."

Bastet had an expression that kinda spoke that she knew that all along. Plus, she herself was able to use her abilities to slip into smoke-filled places due to her natural filtering abilities, and with the aid of her ability she could probably snuff out flames. But Neon... Was a bit of a different story. He knew how the combustion triangle worked, in which three factors are dependent on one another for a fire to be created and spread, but he did not know for sure if his recently reawakened ability would be dangerous.

Yep, basic stuff. Ava had heard this all before. Well, obviously they'd start from the very basic stuff, so Ava kinda spaced out halfway. She was still paying enough attention to know when they'd move on to something she needed reminding about or even to something she didn't know. Ava kind of considered asking a stupid question or doing something else to spice up the seminar, but big Isstar seemed to be serious about this and even Ava had a conscience. She'd feel guilty if she messed around too much. So, she stayed quiet.

James

James just gave a small smirk as Liun glanced at him when the topic of situations caused by powers had came up. After all, pretty much anytime James had set something on fire, his powers had had something to do with it.

James listened through what Liun was saying about how to get a fire going, though it was all stuff he knew. But, when Liun asked if there were any questions, James hand shot up. "Do fuels always have to be dry? Can't liquids also serve as fuel as well? Like couldn't you use alcohol, or gas to serve as the fuel for a fire?"

As James hand went up, Liun looked in his direction and awaited his question. It was a good question, and Liun nodded. "You're correct. A fuel source doesn't necessarily need to be dry, but I was explaining some the more common ones that are gonna be near your household hazards. Alcohol, natural gases, and car fuel are all flammable, but at the least with the latter needs a solid ignition. A fuel source is typically dry, but the factor is just how quickly a material is able to oxidise, how quickly it can attach oxygen. So this means there's some stuff which in one form isn't as flammable, while in another it will catch." He explained to the room, but mostly looked to James while he talked. "Does that answer your question, or does anyone else have some questions about fuels?" He offered a smile while looked to the other listeners, curious if they wanted to continue this brief discussion.

Bastet turned her eyes to Neon for a brief moment, as if giving him a mental nudge, before sighing and rising a hand: "Two questions, one in his behalf and one on mine: Is it possible for flames of completely unnatural origins that doesn't follow the rules of physics to become a severe cause of concern? And is it possible for there to be fire that can endure lack of oxygen?"

Liun turned to Bastet once she raised her hand, listening to her question. "Hm, these questions sound like they're more applicable to fires related to powers. But flames of unnatural origins that don't follow the usual laws of physics could theoretically still be a cause of concern, yes. Unless you know for a fact they don't catch on anything flammable, and don't spread, then there is the risk they do start following the regular laws of physics." He had a more pondering expression on his face as he thought about the question. "I can't give a definitive answer without knowing the exact power." He explained.
"As for your second question, the short answer is no. There are other oxidisers, but it's not technically fire anymore. Fire needs oxygen for it to be fire. However, due to the nature of powers on the island, there could be a power that allows fire to exist without oxygen." Liun continued.

"This does bring me to what you're likely all interested in, powers. On Manta Carlos, there are many species and beings who have powers that are related to fire. Be it their bodies can go to unnatural heats, the complete resistance of flame, the control of it, or even the creation." He had his hands held behind his back, looking upon the room as he spoke. Himself being an ice dragon, Liun had no powers in regards to fire, but did have weaknesses to fire and heat. The exception would be his armour being able to withstand it. "For most with such abilities, the fire will otherwise follow usual physics. The difference is that the user is the ignition, they are the spark for fire rather than another heat source. A way to put out ordinary fires is to stop the ignition, and the same can be argued for ability users. However, they more than likely will still need oxygen for their fire to burn, and fuel for it to catch." He explained, covering more of the basis regarding fire bases abilities.

Once an explanation was given, Neon finally took courage to reveal why she asked, and why he had come. "Well... Just recently I gained the ability to do this:", and after he spoke, a fireball appeared midair close to Liun, as green as its maker's hair, floating there... However, upon close inspection it would be revealed that said fireball is composed of zeroes and ones, and after Liun has inspected it, Neon would make it disappear midair.

"As for me... I'm an aspiring firefighter, and I need to know just how well my wind abilities can do in putting out flames.", Bastet explained herself.

As Neon suddenly appeared in midair, Liun did take a step back reflexively. "Ah-!" He blinked, then hesitantly inspected it. "Next time, I'd advise not springing that up close to someone, especially when you're not sure what it does." He sighed while shaking his head. "Well, I'm personally not a big expert of more niche powers. What I'm talking about with powers here is much more rule of thumb and generalisations; it's what has been recurring with powers. I'd say I stand by my explanation before." Liun closed his eyes with a brief exhale. He wished he could give a better answer for Neon, but without knowing everything, he could only give advice in broad strokes.

But for Bastet, Liun smiled and nodded, a hint of enthusiasm on his face. "It's a pleasure to have an aspiring firefighter attending this seminar. I'm guessing you plan more for trying to deprive flames of oxygen, right?" He inclined his head while he questioned, and figured it was time to tie that into the next part of the talk.

"First things first is prevention. I cannot stress this enough, please, please, only use abilities that are associated with fire in the supervision of an experienced and trustworthy individual. Your schoolmate may be experienced in their own fire powers, but not in yours, it's better to have someone equivalent to an adult." Liun made sure to put an emphasis on particular words, a more exasperated look crossed his face. "Fire can rapidly become unpredictable. Having someone more experienced and trustworthy to supervise you not only can help you learn how to use your power, but could also get it under control. Additionally, in a situation where you lose control of a fire, it's important to notify supervision or emergency services immediately." Once again, he looked at James with the slightest shake of his head.
