"Well that was less fun than I thought it'd be..."

Dorito did look moderately disappointed as Cheeto picked up the lantern after she was scanned, looking a lot more relieved now that she knew she wasn't going to need to strip down... just yet. She held the lantern up and smiled at Orion.

"Well we found this ghosty light lantern here. That's cool right?"

She seemed legitimately pleased with that one but Dorito grumbled and crossed her arms, far less impressed.

"You call that cheap elf junk magical? Gotta get some Seven League Boots or a wizard crown or... OR... HELLO THERE!"

Dorito pounced on a handle in the dirt, rubbing at the handle and checking some strange letters on it before her grin grew and she started fussing and tugging, looking at Cheeto and Orion with excitement.

"C'mon C'mon C'mon C'mon C'mon help here THIS is some nice goblin stuff right here its got the language and the feel and everything!"

Cheeto lit up too and ran over, scraping at the dirt with her fingers before making a trowel out of light and starting to scoop and stab at the ground.

"Oh man how did we get goblin stuff all the way out here?!"

Dorito's disappointment managed to coax a little chuckle out of Orion. Not the usual amused and friendly chuckle, though. It was quieter and mischievous, and perhaps even a little devious. It was easily missed in the ensuring exchange though. The two sisters did a nice job of keeping each other busy while Orion was fiddling with his glove. The image file had been uploaded to the ship, but he could not help but do a little looking at it himself for a moment, trying to get a few quick observations about their head structure.

He was the last to jump on the... whatever it was that they had found nearby. Lacking the outward excitement of finding what seemed like a goblin artifact, as his normal ways was to be skeptical until the actual evidence had come forth, Orion still showed energy and anticipation at the prospect.

"Man. We must have been really distracted not to notice this before! So what could it be?"

His glove lacked any kind of digging equipment or app, but it was a metal glove so it was easy enough just to scoop with wanton abandon with it.

"You guys are the experts here. What stuff do goblins make that this could be? And wow that was a weird sentence. This is so exciting!"

Cheeto looked up at Orion with a small grin, as though feeling proud of what was discovered. And she should be, considering what she was going to reveal as she changed her grip, the light-construct spade becoming a feather duster as she swept dirt and particles away from the ever extending handle and an... axe blade?

"Here we go... Bearded axe head, thick handle of black wood, goblin runes... Yeah, Goblin-made stuff is enchanted so you can only find it if you're looking for it. Makes it easy for us to run off and leave stuff behind to pick up later. And this looks liiiiiike."

Dorito grabbed the handle in her two hands and started to tug as the tool popped free. It was a stocky, marking covered mattock. Each goblin rune was carefully etched and inlayed with silver into a heavy, unpolished head of Damascus steel. The handle was a dark wood, looking like lacquered pine and similarly etched and inlayed with lettering that appeared to be silver. One head of the tool was a stout axe with long beard, the other head a narrow, robust adze resembling a heavy pickaxe. The whole tool seemed to glint in the faint light, the letters and the handle catching the light like glass, though the head had a raw, dull power to it.

"Ohhhh dad had one of these, but it wasn't as nice. This is a Trailbreaker! they're used everywhere! To think one was on the island, maybe some goblin explorers came here way back in the day!"

Cheeto stood up and helped Dorito up as she held the heavy thing. It looked like something Orion could hold in one hand, but it was by no means a small tool, Dorito's muscles taught with the magical artifact in her hand as she looked over it in awe. As Dorito shifted her grip, Cheeto looked up to Orion and smiled.

"These things are used by explorers or workers and they're pretty neat. The axe head can cut through anything and when used on wood it sheers it so fine that there are no splinters, and the pick head glows when you're getting close to something you want when you're digging!"

Dorito held it up to Orion and grinned, picking up where her sister left off.

"These things don't break or go dull either, nobody's seen a broken Trailbreaker, and if you leave 'em alone long enough they hide, just sorta blend in with everything around them until you start looking for goblin stuff!"

The moment Orion saw the handle on whatever the artifact was, he felt his heart began to race. What the three of them were digging up was the real, magical deal! He could not tell what it was immediately though. Between all their hands going at it and Chee's hard light construct, there was a lot going on around it. What he could see was fascinating in its own right already, and all the possibilities were already buzzing about his head. He quickly narrowed his predictions to hand held tools or objects, based solely on the handle as it was exposed. When it was finally uncovered, and even sooner than that since Chee began describing it, Orion let out an excited yell.

"Oh, hell yeah!"

As the axe popped out of the ground, Orion had a difficult time keeping his mind on any one thing. His eyes wanted to wander over the craftsmanship of the axe, attempting to memorize every minute detail. And there were certainly a lot of details to remember. But his ears wanted to listen to everything the sisters had to say, and what they were saying was the exact kind of magical properties he wanted to study. Not so much what it did, but that it had something interesting and esoteric to try and unravel.

"Trailbreaker, huh? And-And I suppose these runes cause this hiding in plain sight property it has? So it has an active... listening effect. Triggered by, maybe, a mental pattern that signals 'goblin' and activates it and..."

Orion was back to typing madly on his wrist computer as his voice trailed off into scientific hypothesizing. When offered the axe, however, he immediately stopped and tentatively, carefully took hold of it. He held it gently, cradling it in his hands like a fossil. His fingers traced lightly over the runes.

"Such craftsmanship. To think... Just the inscription of a certain language in a certain way imbues an object with unnatural properties... The silver is probably a conduit or conductor of sorts and--

Oh, listen to me ramble! This is so cool, you two!

His face scrunched up for a second, then he looked at the two of them, a little pleadingly.

"If you don't mind, I'd REALLY like to take this for study. Like a lot. I'll give it back and I won't take too many samples. But I just HAVE to know how this works!"

Cheeto's expression changed to an equally pleading one as she whined out the words.

"J-Just be careful! VERY careful! These things go missing so easy and I don't wanna find out about the first one we've seen since we left home winding up also being the first broken one..."

Dorito messed with Cheeto's hair though, rubbing her head and pulling her into a hug with one arm, other arm sagging from the weight of the Trailbreaker. She smiled kindly to her sister as she smoke.

"C'mon 'Chee', Orion here will be good and he won't break it. He just wants a few notes, a couple pictures. Besides, this thing can find stuff down here AND dig it up! This tool will do wonders for him, he's not gunna bust it down for parts."

Cheeto lit up at the words, smiling to her sister then taking the mattock and holding it up to Orion as Dorito picked up the elven lantern as well. She looked up at Orion with that mischievous little grins she got. As she continued her voice was once again dripping with implications and full of lewdness.

"Besides, Cheeto wants to get back to your place for that scanning and maybe a probing."

Cheeto turned as if to scream at her sister, forgetting just what she was doing and almost dropping the Trailbreaker before catching it and herself, wobbling to recover her balance before holding their prize back up to Orion.

Orion nodded vigorously along with Dori's words.

"Yesyesyesyes. I'll be a good archaeologist and study the Trailbreaker with the utmost care! []iPlus[/i], chances are any observations I conduct won't give me the full story on its magical properties."

He took the Trailbreaker, carefully, in his hand. For him, it was much easier to hold and carry than for the two sisters. He could carry it easily in one hand, but chose to keep both hands on it out of safety.

"If this is like any other piece of magic I've heard of, the composition and build of this is only half the story. I'll need to consult experts to learn about the spells put on this thing, and how they work."

Dori's words elicited more nods from Orion, though he kept looking at the Trailbreaker with wide eyes of curiosity.

"Very good idea. My Ship has better tools than I have on me, and you two could be my experts."

With his excited smile and bright eyes, it seemed like Dori's innuendos had completely passed by Orion. The suggestion to go to his place had gotten through, obviously, but he was more concerned with the prize find in his hands. His head was abuzz with hypothesizes, possible tests, experiments, and ways he could try and replicated the effects without magic. He NEEDED to know how the Trailbreaker did what it did, and he wanted to know as soon as possible.

"Come. I'll lead out back. This is going to be so cool!"

Trailbreaker in hand, Orion set off back toward the exit and his Ship.

Cheeto looked a bit more comfortable when she heard Orion would be careful with the Trailbreaker. Dorito handed off the lantern to her sister and grinned, trotting up to Orion and following him as he started to leave. Cheeto ran over to catch up but then stopped and blinked a few times as his words sunk in.

"Wait ship? SHIP?! Why a ship what!?"

Dorito grabbed Cheeto's arm and grinned, pulling her along and keeping pace with Orion as he left, lantern swinging in her other hand and casting its ghostly light around them. Cheeto started to keep pace again after Dorito gave her a few more tugs.

"C'mon, c'mon! Normally you're the one pulling me around when people bring up this star wars stuff like space ships and glowing science hands!"

The two scurried obediently after Orion, Cheeto's growing excitement resulting in her almost skipping next to her sister, wondering just what they'd find on Orion's ship.
