Versailles walked along the beach, letting a sorrow-filled voice cast out over the waves. She was singing an old ballad about sailors, without even knowing why. Perhaps it was because she could hear chains and moans, cries of agony and women crying, everyone who had ever faced the relentless seas and died. She hated the sounds of the ocean, but the smell of salt and brine was much more pleasant than the smell of exhaust and coffee.
Waves lapped at her feet, making sand stick to her soles while washing off the tops. How many people died here....? There's too many voices and they're all muddled. Poor things. Well.. probably not all of them. Chains mean they're condemned by whatever god they followed. Versailles sighed and her song stopped midline as she dropped to her knees and sat in the water. Why only here... Why can I only freely hear human voices here.. where it's always the agonized cries of the dead....

In the distance, Aura was just floating like a drift wood in the sea, moving with the waves and uncaring wherever they took her. She was like a gloating corpse in a sense. But she was just relaxing after a tiring swim. Her eyes were closed, and she was honestly drifting to slumber. The only thing that kept her awake was the sound of crashing waves and the way they rocked her.

She was half asleep by the time the waves decided to take her back to shore. She got up, but she didn't notice the girl nearby since her senses were a little lazy. Absentmindedly, she moved her body as if she were dancing, but it was so she could get the water out of her clothes. Absentmindedly, she just let go of her control of the water to the side, not knowing that she was going to hit the girl.

Versailles shreiked as she got hit by a torrent of cold salt water, as if someone had thrown a bucjet of it at her. Coughing, she double checked her ears and tail to make sure the water didn't interrupt any signals or something. What even... who does that...
Versailles peered through her water soaked bangs to find whoever had thrown water on her... to find only one person near her, but they didn't have a bucket. Regardless, there hadn't been any large waves so they had to have been the one who threw the water, right? Versailles raised her voice and shouted at the girl, hoping she would be able to understand her.
"HEY! You should watch what you're doing. You aren't the only one on the beach you know."

{Sorry for the short post, but I don't think I have time to make it longer}

There was a sudden shout, and Aura could swear her soul just jumped out of her body as she flinched. "Who--?" She turned around, only to see a girl who looked like she was just hit by a giant wave. Or in this case...

Her eyes widened.

"Oh my god I'm SO sorry I didn't notice you!"

...it was her. Aura ran to her and stopped in front, immediately assuming a stance that let her move her body and arms to get the water out of her. It might leave her hair to be a little messed up; Aura wouldn't mind fixing that, either. Once the water was completely out, and was already floating in the air above her, she carefully threw it back to the ocean this time, making sure she doesn't hit anything else.

She sighed. Water manipulation can be a little tiring sometimes, but she assumed that's just because she had taken a few hours of swimming. She resumed a normal standing posture and relaxed her arms on her side, before turning back to the other girl, an apologetic look crossing her face. "Miss, again, I'm deeply sorry for that. Are you okay now?"

Versailles sighed as the girl rushed over apologizing, claiming she hadn't seen her. "There's no need to state the obvious, if you saw me then you wouldn't have drenched me."

She sat still as the other girl moved around in front of her, obviously doing some kind of magic as the salt water lifted out of her clothes and hair. Versailles fluffed up the fur on her ears and straightened out her hair as the strange woman tossed a floating orb of water into the sea.

"Yeah I'm fine, better than before you hit me actually... I can't resist coming here now and then, but it's kind of painful... too many people die here and it kinda forces me to listen. Anyways, my name is Versailles, it's nice to meet you."

Versailles stood up and offered a hand to the other girl, dusting sand from her tail with the other. She hoped the girl wouldn't keep apologising... She hadn't meant to scare her like that. It made her feel like some kind of pompous jerk.

"Hmm... Well," Aura wasn't sure, but she thought it would be better to show empathy to said deaths with a single nod, nothing more, since she honestly had very little experience regarding that matter, and so might say the wrong thing without even knowing. "...I'm Aura," was then her reply, smiling softly, taking Versailles' hand for a shake. "It's nice to meet you too. I haven't met many people yet, I'm practically still new, always alone, it's nice talking to someone."

She took note of the girl's features, specifically her ears on her head and her tail. Being usually alone, she always forgot that most people in this island were not normal humans, if they were even human. That wasn't a bad thing. Actually, it was beautiful.

"So what are you doing here, Versailles, by the sea?"
@"Amiable Ghost" I'm so sorry it took so long!

Versailles hummed pensively, subconsciously reaching up to fix the hair around her ears while Aura watched them. She was normally fine with people staring at her ears, but sometimes it got a little awkward when they just glanced at them like that. It generally meant they were familiar with some kind of creature or person that had ears and they were making assumptions.

Oh well. Hopefully the other girl wouldn't ask.

"I like being able to see the edge of the sky, without any interruptions. This doesn't really compare to open expanses of ice like in Russia but it's close enough. The only problem is the whole.. davy jone's locker, I think it's called?"
