Percy smiled, he wore a black pair of pants with black shoes and a white tanktop covered by a black open long sleeve button down shirt his warm black jacket covering it. He wore his long hair in his usual way not wanting to change this for anyone. He knew since it was Valentine's Day he should bring a gift for the gal he was going with. He bought a boquet of red roses and a box of chocolates, he entered the lounge to walk with Cordelia. He wanted to make her enjoy this time more than anything.

He looked around the lounge finding she wasn't there he sat down on the couch and waited. He wondered what she was going to wear, he hoped that she didn't mind his liking the color black. He just felt uncomfortable in any other color because of his physical age and looks. He twiddled his thumbs resting the flowers on the small coffee table. He waited for her, he felt a tiny bit nervous. He knew it wasn't a real date, but this was the most he had ever done with a girl. So he felt like he was going on a date, he looked at the window the snow was falling. He wondered if she was going to be warm enough, he always dreamed of lending his jacket to someone. He wondered if he'd ever get the chance to warm someone's shoulders or hold someone tight.

He looked at the girl's dorm room wondering how the night would go. He hoped well.

She was stalling, she knew it, and she didn't care. She didn't want to spend anymore time with him than she had to, and if she arrived at the last minute and left as early as possible, she probably wouldn't have to spend too much time with him. The young vampire looked in her mirror, sighing in looking down. Her hair was down, and she was merely wearing black sweat pants, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a black hooded sweatshirt. She had told Percy that she wasn't going to dress up, and she was definitely sticking to her word. Besides, this was a hoedown — how fancy did she need to be?

She looked at the time. She still had some time to waste and get there at the last minute. However, at the thought, the woman frowned at herself. When had she become so mean? Being late might hurt him, and ruin her chances with him.

WHOA. Since when did she even want a chance with Percy?! Something had to be wrong with her. She smacked her forehead rather hard in an attempt to knock some sense into herself. NO!!! Cordelia screamed in her head. I CAN'T think like that, I SHOULDN'T! I'm not looking for a boyfriend, I'm not in love with him, he's barely even a friend...

After a while of repeating these things to herself, she finally calmed down, having begun to believe them. With that, the twenty year old left her room and walked toward the lounge.

Upon entering the room, she immediately spotted Percy, and felt so guilty, ashamed, and awkward that she couldn't even stop herself from frowning. He at least looked nice... and she almost looked like a mess compared to him. Her dark blue eyes spotted the chocolate and flowers, and now she felt even worse. She scratched the back of her head, walking toward him, forcing herself to put on a smile for him.

This was going to be a complete nightmare, she was sure of it...

"Hi, Percy," Cordelia said to him quietly, looking down like she had before in her dorm room.

His eyes lifted as he heard the door open he rose to greet her. "You look, wait... I promised I wouldn't say it, I know...." A smile came on his face, he said before that he'd try to stop calling her beautiful as much but he said he couldn't keep from smiling. This was his way of saying she looked beautiful as always. He took her hand in his upon greeting her and gave it a light sweet kiss. It was normal in his days and he was used to the old fashion greeting of a gentleman to a lady. He was so happy to see her and regardless of her thoughts to him she looked beautiful.

He smiled then quickly picking up the chocolates and flowers, "For you, I know it seems kinda odd. But even if this night stinks terribly you'll at least have gained something from it." He said with a charming smile. He hoped she wouldn't mind the fact he bought them, but for some reason he couldn't go out for the first time and not give something to the person.

He looked at the weather, he guessed his jacket wouldn't warm anyone's shoulders tonight. But maybe in the future he'd be able to lend his jacket to someone special. He didn't know if he had a chance with Cordelia, but he was going to try until he found out. He wanted so much to be her prince charming, her knight in shiny armor, her love. Wait... she probably won't even give me a chance, try not to get too attached Perc you might end up depressed if you jump too fast.

He wasn't someone who gave up quickly though or else he'd have given up on living when he turned vampire. He looked at Cordelia, "Shall we go?" He said offering his arm, not thinking about how customs changed and things were no longer often the gentleman/lady-like manner anymore. He had nothing against tough ladies but he often forgot that things changed.

"You look, wait... I promised I wouldn't say it, I know...."

The woman rolled her eyes when he said that. Still having difficulty holding his tongue, apparently. His smile, however, she didn't mind, since she said she would at least permit him to do that. As he took her hand, her eyes widened and a look of shock and anger spread across her face when he kissed her hand. She took her hand back and smacked him across the face, an unhappy look on her face. "Do that again, Percy, and I'll literally throw you into a fire and watch as you burn to ashes," she hissed dangerously, obviously being serious. She wiped her hand on her sweatshirt, a bit disgusted that he had done that. Even if it hadn't been a kiss to the lips or cheek, she wasn't ready for any sort of kissing.

Upon hearing the four hundred year old officially state that the flowers and chocolates were for her, she frowned. The flowers were beautiful, but the chocolates would just be thrown away. She couldn't eat them. Well, she could, but she didn't exactly feel like throwing up violently afterwards. "I can't eat chocolate, you know, or any food, for that matter," she told him. There was no point in lying to him and making him think she could, so she wasn't going to bother. "But... the roses are pretty..." she said. The woman took the flowers from him, feeling a bit awkward again — this was the first time receiving flowers since the death of her husband.

"Shall we go?"

Cordelia nodded. "Sure," she said, not taking his arm. That was something she would not do. "Should I put these flowers in my room first, though?"

"Do that again, Percy, and I'll literally throw you into a fire and watch as you burn to ashes,"

He lowered his head, "I'm so sorry, it was a tradition to greet a lady with a kiss on the hand in the past and I totally forgot. Please forgive me." He didn't want to tease her about the hit because it would be unsensitive to her and he didn't want to be the bad guy, he wanted her to fall in love with him. He looked at her eyes his eyes seemed to always be hidden in darkness or beneath his hair. But his dark eyes always glimmered differently at her.

"I can't eat chocolate, you know, or any food, for that matter,"

He smiled, "I know, some young vampires have sensitive stomachs to food. I bought these special they are made by a vampire. I'm pretty sure you'll find them much easier to eat then human style chocolates." He said to her with a light smile. He knew that when he turned vampire he had a more sensitive stomach but some vampires found ways to make human food easier for them to digest instead of constantly vomiting.

"But... the roses are pretty..."

He smiled glad she liked them, he knew this whole thing at first seemed awkward but to him this was becoming exciting. He wanted to make a good impression on her, maybe one that she'd think about differently or not think of him as just a friend, or a little kid. He wanted to make her start to let go of the past pain even if it cost him pain. The smacks and hurts she threw only made him know for sure that she was a spirited yet wonderful woman.

"Sure, Should I put these flowers in my room first, though?" He nodded, "I'll wait here, you can put them in some water so they don't die." He said with a charming smile for a boy that looked 14. To onlookers this was going to be odd, he was about a foot or two shorter. This was going to definately be interesting.

"I'm so sorry, it was a tradition to greet a lady with a kiss on the hand in the past and I totally forgot. Please forgive me."

Cordelia sighed. "Well, that was the past, this is now. Get used to it," she said. "And whatever, forgiven." She rubbed her forehead, wondering if he would ever figure out that some things just wouldn't be tolerated by her. The woman wondered why he didn't run in the fact that he liked her hitting him, but didn't bring it up. Maybe he had forgotten, and she wasn't going to make him remember.

".... I'm pretty sure you'll find them much easier to eat then human style chocolates."

The widow blinked. He had gone through the trouble to find chocolates made specially for vampires? She smiled, looking at them. Oh, she could honestly say that she had really missed chocolate. "Thank you, Percy," she said to him. "Really. You didn't even have to get me this stuff...."

"I'll wait here, you can put them in some water so they don't die."

She nodded. "Alright. Be right back," she said, and with that, left the room. She quickly went off to her dorm room, found a vase, and put the flowers in. They brightened up the dark, gloomy room, that was for sure. And, to be honest, she wasn't sure whether or not that was a good thing. She was tempted to eat the chocolates, but didn't do so, just in case — she didn't want to get sick at the hoedown, after all.

Cordelia walked out of her room and back to the lounge. "Alright, back," she said.

"Well, that was the past, this is now. Get used to it, And whatever, forgiven."

He smiled glad she was going to forgive him, though he rather enjoyed kissing her hand and the slap he got from it. He rather wondered what it'd be like to feel her hand lovingly touch his. He wished for the ability to take her in his arms, but he knew they just recently met. All the years of loniness made it so hard for him to not want to get on her good side quickly. But he wanted to take the relationship slow enough that she'd feel comfortable with it.

"Thank you, Percy, Really. You didn't even have to get me this stuff...."

"I know... But in honor of the first woman I ever went anywhere with I decided I should bring some presents." He said with a light smile, she really was a light in his life. He had such a lonely 386 years and now to be able to go out with someone. It felt like heaven, especially that she was so pretty and sweet yet independant and tough. He liked her characteristics.

"Alright. Be right back,"

He nodded and waited, he wondered if she'd ever let go of the hurt of losing her husband and being made vampire. But he knew she wouldn't forget them, and he knew the pain wouldn't ease unless something good happened to her. He hoped that he'd be that good that helped ease her pain and make her start to live happily.

"Alright, back,"

He smiled, "Alrighty, off to the hoedown we go." He said with a smile walking to the door opening it for her, waiting for her to pass through.

"I know... But in honor of the first woman I ever went anywhere with I decided I should bring some presents."

"Well... if there's a next time, don't bring presents," Cordelia said. She hoped that wouldn't get his hopes up that there would be a second date, because there most likely wouldn't be. She stressed the 'if' because of that — while it was nearly impossible, if this went well, maybe she would give him a chance. She didn't want to forget about her family, let go of the pain in her heart, or move on, but Percy was a nice guy... there couldn't be any harm in giving him a shot, right?

"Alrighty, off to the hoedown we go."

The woman nodded. She smiled when he held the door open for her, and exited the room, walking toward where the hoedown would be held. Hopefully this wouldn't turn out to be as much of a nightmare as she believed it would... though she had a feeling that it probably would be as horrible as she had originally thought.

He smiled at her comment not saying anything to it he wanted to get her presents he could always pretend he didn't hear it. He continued to walk with her, they soon reached the barn it was lit up and decorated in such a way that it was so cute and yet beautiful. He wondered if they'd have a blast. There was hardly anyone there yet, he knew they were late but yet he imagined there'd be more than a few couples.

He saw the refreshment table and the lighting was somewhat like chinese lanterns except with a twist of old fashion country to them. There was old time decorations, and it looked mighty fun. Percy almost felt out of place, he never had been to a dance or anything like this. He wanted to turn and run almost, he didn't know how to act in this envirment how would he give Cordelia a good time? He listened to the music it was cheery but for some reason the vampire felt spooked. Maybe it was the fact he didn't know if he could be friendly enough to Cordelia or if he'd even have the tiniest chance of love.

He looked down for a second biting his inner lip till it bled the pain would make him lose his nerves and cause him to feel more natural besides it would heal quick enough with him being a vampire. Suddenly a man came up to them looking particulary at Cordelia. "Is it okay if you leave your little brother and dance with me miss?" The boy asked her, he was about 18-19 in looks and about three feet taller than Percy. This made Percy mad and shocked but no words came.

Cordelia looked at the barn, and couldn't help but smile. It was quite a sight to behold. This was odd for her to notice such a thing, though, really — the widow had rarely looked at the beauty in things. Almost everything meant absolutely nothing to her... it seemed like Percy was going to change that. He already had, in a way. "Looks nice," she said quietly before walking into the barn with him.

She, too, had believed that there would be more people there. It was surprising, but, she supposed the less people to see her actually dancing, the better. She didn't want rumors to fly, after all. But, really, since when had the twenty year old cared what others thought of her?

Unfortunately, she didn't see, feel, or sense Percy's uneasiness. If she had, though, she definitely would have put an end to it. He had no need to be uneasy, not with her. It wasn't like she was going to be completely and utterly rude to him, and shatter his heart and her own. She blinked when thinking about breaking her own heart popped into her mind, and she shook her head. She was just coming up with crazy ideas that weren't really true... hopefully...

"Is it okay if you leave your little brother and dance with me miss?"

At this, Cordelia's eyes filled with anger for a moment and she turned to the man, rolling her eyes at him. She put her arm around Percy's shoulders, having no intent on leaving him. She wasn't about to go dance with some manly scum who she didn't know, after all. At least Percy wasn't a jerk like that. "Heh, sorry, but I don't intend on leaving my date," she said. "Yeah, that's right, you heard me. He's not my little brother. So why don't you go get some other girl who isn't taken to dance with you? Scum of the earth..." She narrowed her eyes at him, a complete look of loathing on her face as she waited for his reaction.
