Snoozing

Danger didn't sleep. Ever. Not that he was insane or anything, or even that he stayed wide awake all the time. He just, never truly slept deeply like the average person. Danger cat napped. Which means that he snoozed, even slept, but at the slightest change in his surroundings, a noise, or anything of that sort, he was wide awake immediately. Pirate sense, I suppose.

That's why he chose to be in the library. It was naturally quiet, so not only was his chance of getting longer shut eye better, but also, because it was so quiet, he was even more likely to hear someone sneaking up on him. It was automatic, his methods of self defense, and he'd probably never break the habit. It was a good habit to have when you're a pirate.

At the moment, Danger was curled up in one of the arm chairs, head resting on the back, one knee hanging over the edge, the other bent like he was sitting normally. A few strands of his nearly white blonde hair fell into his well tanned face. More strands would have been there if not for the brown bandana that sat on his head, holding back most of his straggly hair.

Serenity would have been having a good week if she hadn't checked out so many books at once. She couldn't help it though, she loved to read away other people in other places with other problems. She was balancing half of them in her arms. These alone piled above her head. She had a bit of trouble manuvering through the many chair/armchairs/tables.

Of course, Serenity could have gone in smaller loads, but she just didn't have the patience for that. She had past a table when one of the larger books that were on the top fell and made a large BANG. She looked around. This place waas deserted. She looked into the armchair she was behind. There was a boy. Sleeping.
I thought people were suppoed to read in a library...
She thought, standing to watch him.

Or Rather, Danger wasn't sleeping any more. He was awake, hand on the dagger in his belt at the rather rude awakening of a book falling. When his brown eyes fell on the culprit, a half smirk made it's way onto his face as he removed his hand from his dagger. His eyes twinkled with amusement at her situation for a moment, before he stooped, picking up her book for her, eyes never leaving her face.

Danger was in one of his charming moods, and he dipped his head slightly. "You look like you could use some help." his words had a bit of an accent on them, completely unplacable since he'd been almost everywhere on the planet, and had picked up pieces of accents everywhere he went. The 'curse' of being able to speak any dialect thrown at him. He could speak any language he wanted with no accent, except for English. He grinned slightly, cocking his head as he took in her features.

Serenity blushed deeply.
"Oh! I... uh.... Thanks..."
She said, looking down. Her face flushed a bit more as Serenity started thinking to herself.
Why is he staring at me? Do I have something on my face? Why does he have an accent? What is it? Is he mad because I woke him up?
She placed the books down on a nearby table and took the one the boy had.
"I'm... I'm Serenity."
She said meekly, her eyes still on the ground.
"Sorry... Sorry I woke you. I... I didn't mean to... I'm just a... a heavy reader."
She blushed, yet again. She wasn't used to being around humans very much. She'd much rather be back home. But she couldn't back there... Not with the Hunters after her. She looked back up.

Danger grinned even more as she stuttered and seemed very uncomfortable. He couldn't help it. He especially found it amusing that she thought that he was annoyed. All she had to do was look up and make eye contact with him, and she'd see that he was rather amused at the whole situation.

He dipped his head slightly in response to her thanks, before realizing that she wouldn't see it anyways. "You're welcome." was his reply, his eyes never leaving her face.

"I'm... I'm Serenity."

"Pleased to meet you Serenity. I'm D.. James." he had stopped himself from using his nickname, since he figured that someone as shy as this one wouldn't feel very comfortable with a guy named Danger.

He listened as she stumbled through an apology, and couldn't help but chuckle slightly. "No worries. I'd have woken up even if you hadn't dropped a book. I never sleep long." he was hoping that she'd look up soon, since it was no fun talking to somebody who never made eye contact, but he didn't force the issue, being gentlemanly enough to allow her her comfort space.

Serenity caught his gaze and held it. Slowly, her redness faded off. She opened her mouth to say something and stutter again, but she didn't, and she closed it. She felt a bit more comfortable because she knew he wasn't annoyed or mad, just a bit amused.
Why is he still looking at me?
She wondered.

((Sorry it's so short, I'm low on Brain juice and really tired. I'll try and get on tomorrow!

It clicked suddenly for Danger that the fact that he was looking at her made her uncomfortable, so he averted his eyes instead reading the titles of the books she'd decided to get out, curious if he'd ever read any of them. He read the title of one, and smiled. Very few people knew that that one was originally written in latin. And he'd read it in latin. He picked it up and rotated it in his hands. "I read this one.. But it was in a different language." he said, glancing at her again momentarily, before returning his eyes to the book, opening it up, and paging through it.

Serenity looked at the book and smiled softly.
"It is my favorite. It was so old, I am surprised this library had it. I was lucky to find it. It was shoved behind some books, but..."
She chuckled.
"It is hard to hide a book that I am looking for..."
She turned away, her face reddening, and she started to put some of the books away in their proper places.

Danger raised his eyes to her again, and cleared his throat, looking back down at the book, closing his mouth tightly to keep from chuckling. She was blushing again. For some odd reason, this girl was interesting. And she blushed a lot. He wondered if it was a regular occurance, or if it was just him. He continued on the topic at hand however.

"I liked it a lot. I read around four times in a row... Before we sold it. Do you know what language it was originally written in?" he asked, sounding truly curious, as though he'd never heard. He didn't give the book back to her, but instead continued to page through it, reading excerps here and there of parts that he liked.

Serenity stopped and thought a moment.
"If I'm not mistaken, Latin. Then it was translated to many different languages, but it was originally in Latin."
She looked at him, curiousity running across her red face.
"What so you mean by, 'before we sold it'?"
She looked ay him, natural caution making her countinue to put the books away, but watch him closely. She wondered who was 'we'...
