It always made him a bit twitchy to enter a place he had never been to before. He had new objects to stare at, like that doorknob, that really fucking mundane ass doorknob that somehow had his attention like a vice grip because he was trying to calculate with his mind how to tear it out with one great pull in such a way that he could manage to catch it in his hand perfectly. He hadn't used his abilities in five days, something of a record with him, so he was refraining from destroying the property of the school. Of course, just as his mind had finally worked out the trajectory, the exact bit of tile that he would have to gravitate with it, the doorknob suddenly turned and he snapped back to reality.
"Wha- huh?"
"I see you were in another place, was it nice there?" His mother had come to see him off, mother was what she preferred while his other mom usually went by mammy. He wasn't really sure why they had their own preference, he had gone through a phase where he called his mothers by their first names but lately he had been putting more effort to be less informal with them.
"Yeah, doorknob. It was a little worrisome. I almost did it... I almost snapped."
"It's okay if you do here, you know that right? It's safe. You'll be okay."
"No."
"Honey, really, it'll be-"
"No." This time his face tightened as he felt his eyes burn a little bit. "I don't deserve them."
His mother frowned but handed him a bill, "Here, go explore and get something to drink. You'll feel better. We'll meet you in an hour or two to say goodbye at your new room okay?"
"Sure," He lifted off of the chair and hugged her tightly, planting a kiss on her cheek before walking out into the hallway and saw a vending machine with snacks. He preferred chips to any sort of soda, especially when his stomach was so touch and go with all the anxiety. He pushed the five in and selected a flavor that was new and sounded exciting only to have the bag get stuck halfway. His head rested against the display glass in defeat as he let out a soft laugh.
"Don't do it, it's not worth it... you have change... you can just pay twice." His fingers were pressed together tightly. "No... no, you'll just crush the damn things...."
His fingers released without having snapped, and he quickly realized an easier solution as he started violently shaking the machine. "GIVE ME MY FUCKING CHIPS YOU ASSHOLE!"
