Zeke's eyes closed and his mind drifted, away from his body and into the realm of dreams. But this trip was different than the usual, he had had a particular dream he visiting tonight. One of a girl he'd met and befriended, it was a first for him, he'd never been invited to a dream before.

He'd blink in surprise as he entered the dream, he stood in a grassy field, ahead was a small town. Something was odd about it all, the town looked out of place, as if it'd be better suited for different environment. Humming in thought he walked towards the town, looking over the walls as he did.

Dreams were such funny things, he could largely bend them to his will, make it to where the person he visited wouldn't remember him. This was different though, he'd been invited, so he appeared as he would in real life, he wanted her to remember this. He'd smile and wave when he saw her on one of the walls, focusing he'd conjure a staircase made of clouds and quickly climbed them to meet her on top.

"Uh....hey," he'd say, smiling, he was a little nervous, "thank you for inviting me." He'd glance around, "it's nice, I like dreams, they're always so different from the real world."

Lycia was doing what she did every night- playing in the nameless dreamworld of her own creation. Well, mostly her creation. It always changed and adjusted based on the other dreamers in it and ever since she started advertising students had started joining in. How many? Well she couldn't say for sure, and she wouldn't remember the ones who chose to be 'unknown' dreamers.

But anyway she was fooling around, walking along the edges of this sandstone wall. The day was bright and sunny and warm, with only a few clouds in the sky. She could see out over the landscape, marveling at the greenery. Apparently one of the dreamers lately had seen grasses like that before and brought the concept into her dreams. She was so thankful.

Lycia appeared... well almost exactly as she did outside the dreams generally speaking. Her hood shading her face and her long white hair streaming wildly down her back. She had on a short dress but her feet and legs were bare. Her eyes though were a crisp, beautiful blue rather than the clouded-over damaged ones she had in real life.

She spotted Zeke coming and smiled at the complete stranger, as she did for pretty much any dreamers she met. Lycia waved back and was considering asking him to catch her when he suddenly made stairs out of clouds. "Oh, cool!" she exclaimed excitedly, seemingly unsurprised or at least not bothered by the unnatural action. "Hello, I'm so glad you decided to come to my dream. It's so much fun when people come join me," she chirped as she stepped over closer to him and looked him up and down.

"Wait... oh, you're... Zeke right?" she realized after hearing his voice and working to put the pieces together. Until that point she had just treated him like any of the other dreamers she'd encountered. Outside the dream she only had the sounds of people's voices and their souls to distinguish them. Inside the dream she didn't see souls, she could see whatever they chose to look like.

Without missing a beat Lycia bounced over to give Zeke a hug whether he was ready for it or not. "I'm glad I get to see you now. you're pretty cute," she announced innocently and happily. Completely unaware that the guy tended to be a little... uneasy around girls.

He'd blink in surprise at the hug, his face blushing as he hugged back. He wanted to be like he was in the real world for this visit. "Cute?" he'd ask, again surprised, his blush deepening, "thank you...I think you're the first person to ever tell me that." Yes, this trip was turning out to have many firsts indeed.

"You're really pretty," he'd tell her honestly, adjusting his sunglasses, he'd appeared with them on even though he didn't need them here. "I-I like your hair, it's a nice color," he was definitely nervous complimenting her, but he was doing a decent job pushing through it, not having to worry about his eyes helped, but he was still blushing a lot.

Zeke cleared his throat, "so uh....your dream is nice, it was really kind of you to invite me here." He'd glance around at everything, "oh, uh, here," holding his hands together he'd form what looked like a small glowing star, he'd hand it to her, it was warm to the touch. "I can mold dreams, change them...so I wanted to show you something nice."

Lycia giggled at his blushing as she backed up a step or two so they could talk. "Thank you for the compliment," she beamed down at him. Though amusingly enough if he glanced away at any point suddenly her height would have adjusted to match his. She was curious that no one had complimented his appearance before though. "Do others not like the way that you appear?" she asked with a fairly puzzled look on her face.

She put her own hands together to hold the glowing starlike shape. "I invite everyone to come to my dream, I kind of have to. But i'm sooo glad you came," she answered as he was making the star and then looked at it. The beautiful warm jewel was fun to hold, but she had another idea and held it up towards her neck. A tiny chain of silver formed around her neck, making the star into a small, cute little charm necklace.

There was no need for her to explain, as he already knew this was her dream world. Things tended to shift towards what she wanted a lot of the time, though it did surprise her often. And it certainly didn't keep her from getting into danger or getting hurt.

Lycia giggled again as the jewel was still warm against her neck. "Come, let us have some fun," she laughed and started running off along the edge of the wall towards what looked like some kind of market with huge colorful awnings, all kinds of unusual goods, and several huge fountains in the center of it all.

Zeke noticed the height change but said nothing, he knew she had dream altering powers. "Well....uh..," he'd remove his glasses, revealing his red eyes which were nice looking. "In the real world my eyes cause fear...I didn't know for most of my life, used to they caused just discomfort then it grew to fear. Now I know, so I wear the glasses."

He didn't need the glasses here, but he still slipped them back on out of habit. He'd grown to dislike his red eyes anyways, for a long time he thought they were what made people uncomfortable.

With a laugh he'd follow her, the wall becoming thicker so he could run besides her. Sharing a dream adventure with someone was so different, so much more pleasant and special than the random wanderings his mind usually did.

Entering the market he'd look around at all its wonders. "You're dream is so cool," he'd grab and odd shaped fruit from himself and pass one to her. Eating it he'd find that it changed flavor every few seconds. "I love it here already, it's perfect," dreams were his haven from an unpleasant reality his life currently was.

Stepping over to one of the fountains, it'd start to shoot jets of water into the air. Glancing at her he'd smile and step into the fountain. Here in the dreams he could be himself, he'd still blush when complimented by pretty girls, but the things that cause his stress and anxiety wasn't here. Here he could be free.

As they ran, drawing side by side with the widening wall, Lycia glanced over to grin at Zeke. "Your eyes... can not ever hurt me...," she called out between breaths as she ran. The movement billowing out her hair behind her and the dress around her. She was the very picture of excitement and happiness here in her dream. It was almost a contagious feeling for many people who had the good fortune to find her in the dream. Or those she let find her, as the case might be.

"I know! It is much better than sitting in a boring castle," she replied as they entered the market. Of course her entry wasn't boring at all. No, she actually let Zeke get a bit ahead of her as he moved down towards the fruit monger's stall and she hopped off the wall onto the fabric awning overhead, sliding down it to drop right by Zeke with a happy giggle.

Lycia gladly took the fruit and bit into it, with a little of the fruit juices run down her face. There were flavors she didn't recognize so either he was doing it or someone else in the dream had tasted something wonderful before.

She followed him over to the fountains but stopped in her tracks when he stepped into the fountain. In her home, that would have been an extremely serious offence. Polluting the sacred water. The lifeblood of her people. They weren't in her home and the water would be completely unharmed because it was all a dream but she still had to pause.

Then she got over it and not only did she step in to join him.... she actually took a running leap and splashed her way into the water. The splash flung water all about. And sure enough, not a drop of the water was being marred by the sand from their feet or the dirt they had on them.

"If you could do anything. Anything at all, what would it be?" She asked as the splash from her jumping into the fountain subsided a little.

And then a man in armor with a crimson sash and a very large glaive approached. "Why are you in our waters?" he asked with an accent similar to Lycia's. He was looking mostly at Zeke.

Zeke laughed a little when she jumped in, splashing a little water onto her. "It feels good huh?" he'd smile, "to cold in the real world for this, but here we can swim all we want." He'd step over to her, not worried about getting wet, he could instantly dry himself once they were finished.

He thought about the question for a moment, if he could do anything, anything at all. "Stay here forever," he'd say with nod, splashing through one of the water jets with his hands. "It's nice here, dreams can be whatever we want, not like the real world," there was a bit of sadness in his voice, the real world often wasn't a pleasant place for him, though the island had been a vast improvement over the narrow reality.

The young half nightmare blinked in surprise when the armored man appeared to question them. He was used to dealing with talking dream constructs, he just hadn't been expecting any here. "They were pretty looking and...," he stopped talking and focused, an illusion would cover him and Lycia, they'd be invisible to the guard.

Turning to Lycia he'd smile a little and make a shushing gesture before motioning her to follow and leading her out of the fountain. "Sorry about that," he'd say once out of hearing distance of the confused guard, "guess we broke some rules."

Lycia giggled as the water splashed on Zeke. She was enjoying playing around in the water but she did have one admission to make, "I do not know how to swim. It is not something to learn when you live in the desert." She wondered if that was a common thing here. With all the water around the island she realized she probably was in the minority. Learning to swim would just have to be another potential adventure.

Lycia looked over at Zeke's slightly saddened reply to her question and moved to poke him in the arm. "I tried to stay in the dream forever at home, but my real self needs to live too. The snow is bad but there are fun people on the island to be with and they are not all in the dream," she cautioned in her own way. She absolutely agreed with him that the dream was more fun than the real world she had come from, so it was only reasonable he'd think the same way. Lycia honestly would have been ok if she was stuck in the dream forever, but as long as she had the outside world too it was fun to swap between them.

The guard was fooled by the illusion and broke off his questioning. Lycia started to say something and then just put her hands to her mouth to stifle the giggling at Zeke's antics. She nodded at the boy and then hopped out of the fountain after him. Her feet and anything else that had gotten wet from the fountains was dried by the time she set foot back in the sandy ground.

Lycia nodded solemnly, "in my home what we did is a big crime. Making the sacred water unclean. The law is not the same in here but I think the guard came because of my thoughts about it. I am sorry." For the first time she seemed a little nervous and unsure, as she unconsciously clenched the edges of her dress in her hands. Lycia was worried she had made things less fun for Zeke and he might decide not to come back next time.

"It's ok, this is your dream so it makes sense it'd react to your thoughts," he'd say, giving her a reassuring smile, "I tricked him easily enough, and it was fun too." He'd glance back at the guard, "watch this," flicking his finger a dog would appear snatching something from the guard's belt and running away, making the guard chase.

He'd laugh a bit and turn to her, "dreams.....I feel at home in them, no matter how funny or weird they get," he'd say with a thoughtful hum. "Is that weird?" he'd ask her, "I've talked a few people at school about dream walking and they've all said dreams feel alien to them," maybe it was because of his nightmare half, or maybe because it was his haven.

Forming a large floating cloud he'd take a seat on it, motioning her to join him. "What's it like dreaming?" he'd ask curiously, "I don't think I've ever had my own dream, every night I end up in someone else's dream, but I never have my own." He'd chuckle, "I guess that's odd huh? A dream being who doesn't have his own dreams."

Lycia's eyes flicked back up to gaze into Zeke's with a relieved smile to accompany them before then turning to look at the poor hapless guard. She laughed heartily at the sight of the dog stealing form the guard and the two running off into the distance.

Lycia shook her head vigorously, "I do not think this is weird. I feel at home here in my dream too, even when things are dangerous and scary." Perhaps if she were in someone else's dream though, like Zeke had mentioned, it would be completely different. As far as she knew this whole place was still happening within her head so it had a natural sort of sense of being... part of her.

She hopped up onto the cloud seat right next to Zeke without a second thought. Lycia was indeed an extremely adventurous person in her dreams. "I do not know how to describe dreaming. For me it is different than for normal people. I remember it like it is real except for the 'unknown' dreamers," she answered as honestly as she could. Lycia couldn't remember what normal dreaming had been like. Only this kind of dream world creation they were currently inside.

Lycia looked puzzled by the thought of him not having dreams and needing to walk within the dreams of others instead. Never having his own dreams. Although technically him being in Lycia's dream meant that things would adjust and shape to fit his own subconscious mind so.. it was kind of as close as he could get maybe? "If I am dreaming you can come any time you want," she offered, not really understanding that he couldn't actually control whose dreams he was going to all the time. As far as she was aware anyone sleeping within range, who had placed the container of water by them, would get the option. But things worked very differently, it seemed, for him.

She poked at the cloud seat and scooted a little closer to Zeke so she wasn't as close to the edge, and kicked her feet a little as she sat there.
