He'd smils, he was happy that he'd helped her push through the nightmare. He knew how bad they could get, and if she could be hurt by them, then stopping them was extra important. "You're welcome, pillow nests are the perfect place to relax," he'd say with a small chuckle.

"Natau," he'd repeat the word before moving to her side and gently petting the animal. "I didn't get to really ever see big animals back home, I lived in a big city," he'd gently scratch the creature's neck.

Zeke would sit beside her, continuing to pet the animal. "It's cute, but also kinda funny looking," he'd say with a chuckle, glancing out the opening of the room at the older animals. "Looks like the whole herd wants to join the pillow room."

With a wave of his hand the walls of the pillows room would change, shifting to become more fence like. "There we go," he'd with a smile, the animals now being able to poke there heads in through the fence. "Now we can greet our visitors," he'd say with a small laugh.

Lycia laughed as he worked on pronouncing the name of the creatures. There was a little bit of nuance she couldn't quite translate but it was close enough. She used part of her dress to wipe off the little bit of slime the tongue had left on her cheek and stood up next to the Natau calf. For it would quickly become apparent that the one with its head in the pillows with them was far smaller than most of the others.

"I like them a lot. I loved the ones kept at the castle. I could sometimes sneak out to hide in the pen and play with the little ones," she gushed happily. If the pillows had show off her childish side this was showing how much she could melt when dealing with something she thought was cute. As Zeke moved to start petting the animal around its neck she rubbed along its snout, digging her fingers into the short but thick brown hair.

After giving the animal some nice scritching on the nose she put her face up against the snout, feeling the warmth and softness. And also in some ways feeling a connection to home. The calf made a low rumble of a happy sound at all the petting.

She kind of rubbed her face along the Natau calf's but turned a little to watch as the room fell away. "They must like us a lot. There are so many of them," she exclaimed as seeing the herd. Her pure joy was very clear in both the sound of her voice and her body language. Funny really, since it was her own subconscious mind that had created them and yet she was genuinely surprised and delighted by them. "Just don't go near their back sides or rub near their eyes. They fight for that," she warned. Many children learned those lessons the hard way.

Around the area their surroundings had changed too. They were now near a small pool of water with hardy looking plants growing around them. They were once more adjacent to a high sandstone wall, but also visible was a much taller and more elaborate building. A castle or palace of some sort. And yet Lycia was paying no attention to that at all. Just Zeke and the cattle. Mostly the cattle though, if she was being honest.

The Natau were munching loudly on some of the plants as other milled about. A few other calves played around, chasing each other. Still others drew closer to the fence out of apparent curiosity. The Natau had wide pads for feet and thick short hair. They all appeared to be females as none of them had horns or anything.

He'd continue petting the small calf, making sure to avoid the back side and eyes as his host had suggested. "He's adorable," he'd say with a chuckle, gently scratching the calf's neck. He hadn't been around a lot of big animals in his life, occasionally he got to visit a zoo buy that was about it.

Stepping back, he'd focus and a large stalk of grass would grow in front of him. Tearing off a piece of the grass he'd offer it to the calf. "Think he's old enough to eat this?" he remembered hearing somewhere that young cattle fed on just their mother's milk for a while.

Glancing at the rest of the herd he'd conjure up grass for all of them to enjoy. Stalks of it appearing in front of each of them. He knew they weren't real, that they were just constructs within the dream, but he'd still play along with it. "There we go, plenty for all of them," turning to Lycia, he'd grin, "they seem to want our attention."

Lycia could smell the warm, slightly sweaty but comforting scent of the Natau's snout as she rubbed her face against it and then gave the calf a great big kiss on the nose. Giggling as the calf again licked her cheek playfully.

"She is adorable, yes. They are very friendly and love the attention I think," she answered as she turned to smile so happily at Zeke. The literal and exact opposite of how she had felt during the onset of the nightmare. At peace and full of joy. Not all adventures required excitement- sometimes they just involved hugging and loving cute animals. At least that's what she thought, and around there that was what mattered.

Lycia nodded at Zeke, "she looks.. maybe one year old. I think it will be ok." And sure enough the calf began munching away with happy little snorts. All of them in fact seemed to enjoy the tufts of grasses Zeke was forming for them.

After looking around in sheer delight at the herd enjoying their snacks Lycia skipped over to Zeke and wrapped her arms around him to give him a big hug. "You are very kind. Tonight has been a very fun dream with you. Thank you," she said softly and held on for just a moment before releasing him and stepping to the side to give him a chance to recover. Or so it appeared.

After giving Zeke a short bit to recover from the hug Lycia was already moving on to the next game. With a light splat she slapped a small glob of wet mud on him and ran off into the herd, giggling hysterically as she went. Around them the ground had shifted so there was a nice layer of cool mud and some of the Natau were making the most of it, starting to squish their wide hooves and roll their bodies in it.

Messy, but harmless and great fun.

He unsurprisingly blushed when she hugged him, he wasn't used to getting so much positive attention from a girl. He returned the hug, "thank you for inviting me Lycia, this dream is the most fun I've had in a long time."

Zeke would continue smiling when the hug ended, the smile was a slightly embarrassed one but he was indeed feeling happy.

Then the mud hit him, he'd blink in surprise and laugh, following her into the herd. He'd glance at the animals around them as they rolled and played in the mud. When he spotted Lycia he'd playfully throw a bit of mud at her, "that was sneaky of you," he'd say with a laugh.

He'd pet one of the large animals as he walked towards Lycia, giving no mind to the mud. "It's wonderful here," he'd toss another bit of mud at her with a chuckle.

Lycia had seen Zeke's blushes but she wasn't interested in changing what she was doing unless he actually told her he didn't like it. She was pretty impulsive in her own innocent way. Plus his smile only encouraged her more.

Zeke's small mud missile smacked Lycia on the cheek and splatted across her face and neck. She wasn't hurt though and she just laughed back, "... yes, very sneaky. I am a mud assassin." As she saw Zeke coming around one of the Natau she ducked underneath another and the mud splatted against the side of the beast. Which barely even noticed it.

Lycia cackled and popped up on the other side of the creature, flinging more mud in Zeke's direction. "It is very fun here. You are very fun too," she agreed with him and then bolted for the next Natau for cover. Unfortunately the mud made her bare feet slip on the ground and she fell.

"Oof," she cried out as she hit the ground and the wind was knocked out of her, but she was picking herself again already. Although she was now wearing a ton more mud and looked pretty ridiculous. It was all over her dress and skin and in her hair. Her face was half covered in it like some sort of terrible makeup job gone horribly wrong. Lycia was smiling though despite the fall. Apparently uninjured, though she did feel the bumps and bruises.

"You ok?" he'd aak, running to her when she fell, they were both covered in the mud by now, he didn't mind though. He'd kneel in front of her, smiling at her, "be careful, the mud is slipery." He was starting to realize that she was perhaps affected more by dreams than him, maybe she even felt genuine pain.

He'd offer her his hand, helping her up if she took it. "You're covered in mud," he'd say with a chuckle, picking a bit off of her hood. "Luckily we don't have to worry about cleaning our clothes here," he'd say with a small laugh, looking down at his own mud covered clothes.

Zeke would pet a natau that had approached to investigate Lycia falling. "I wish this dream didn't have to eventually end," he'd tilt his head, "can I come back and visit sometimes?" plus they could still hang out in the real world.

"Yes, I think I am ok," she said softly as she rubbed at her elbow where she had struck the ground. As smiley as she was it did kind of hurt a little and there was a bruise already forming. Lycia was as vulnerable to being hurt as any of the NPCs or constructs in the Dream, unlike the protections afforded to the dreamers. Otherwise though she was just muddy.

Lycia gladly took his hand and clambered up to her feet with his help. As she looked down at the mud covering her and Zeke she giggled and then burst into laughter. They truly were a sight. She didn't make a big deal of it but she was secretly very pleased Zeke had cleaned off her hood rather than trying to remove it or something. It was a good sign of respect. "We can clean them if we want but no, we do not need to worry," she agreed and wiped some of the mud off her face with a hand.

The Natau that had come closer seemed to be the calf Lycia had been playing with before. Though whether there was a connection between them or it was just a young animal with a high amount of curiosity was unclear. Lycia too went over to pat the calf and scratch under its chin a little.

"If it didn't end then I would never be awake," Lycia cautioned Zeke. She was very fond of the Dream and potentially might one day slip permanently into it if things continued like they had for her, but until then she did need to wake so she could eat and drink and live in the real world. "But you do not have to ask permission. Everyone can come to the Dream always when I am asleep," she finished in a soothing cheery voice. Unfortunately though they both knew the night's dream would end at some point. Lycia had no sense of how much time had been passing outside the Dream but chances were high they didn't have too long.
