"Aye, a stiff drink sounds good right aroun' now. What do ye think Rose?"

Grant asked of his parrot, rolling his neck from side to side as he walked down the darkening streets of Manta Carlos. The purple bird flew around his head before landing on his shoulder, preening a bit as she cawed back a reply.
"Skrawk! Stiff Drink! Down the Hatch!"

Grant laughed as his parrot agreed him. The old pirate dug into his coat and pulled out a small cracker, flicking it up into the air. Rose caught it in her mouth, eating it quickly. He shook his head at his parrots antics, and looked around. He never usually actually went around the downtown area of the city, just hanging around the docks or The Magic Spoon. "Rose, I don' suppose ye' know any good bars aroun' 'ere?"

The Parrot sqwuacked a bit, batting his head with one of her wings. Grant shook his head. "Alrigh' Alrigh'. I gotche lass. I'll find sommit aroun' 'ere."

Grant wandered around the downtown area, looking for a suitable bar to once more attempt to kill his liver. He was beginning to lose hope in finding a suitable establishment. Most of the bars he ended up locating were 'high-class'and didn't allow animals or firearms. What a joke.

"Back in my day, If ye didn' 'ave a gun on ye when ye wen' drinkin ye'd be dead faster than ye could order'a rum." He mumbled, shaking his head.

He eventually stopped in front of a little joint, looking up at the sign.

"Th' Cove, eh? Worth a shot."

If he expected anything when he walked into the building, it wasn't for it to be filled with pirates. There were a few people who were obviously in costume but...

There were a few who weren't.

Grant's visible eye widened as he took it in, he could tell that this stuff was all authentic, it was a shock. He hadn't expected to see anything like this again, save for museums.

"By Besmara's Cannons..." He gasped, Rose squawking and looking around the room. He was shocked to see all of this again. How had he now known about this bar until now...?

Vanessa watched her employees work like she always did. From behind the bar was the typical two-way glass that are always there in interrogation rooms you see in TV. And Mrs. Scarlet's office was behind the glass. While she watched she hummed. Those musical tones even though there were no words could draw to her the lonley, the broken hearted, all those who wanted something from another. Most of the time it was of the Heart. But Vanessa hated to sit in a quiet room, the ocean always had music in the waves and depths. The Air was just so quiet and the music so more washed out then under the blue waves of the sea.

But it was while she leaned back into her high backed rolling chair that she witnessed something odd. One of her people was just standing, looking around the room as if they had just walked in. Though she didn't remember allowing any of them to bring a parrot with them she didn't discourage a bit of customization to their attire. For a bit of mixing and matching made a pirate. What didn't work or got to many holes in it were thrown out and the practical stuff was kept. This man looked a bit different too and he was carrying an old blunderbuss. That was very odd. But the shift had started a few hours ago and this man was late.

Pressing a button on her desk Vanessa spoke to one of her bouncers, they usually stayed quite. Sitting in sight but quite blended in with the other people in the bar at the moment. She told one of them about the late guy and to tell them to come to her office. Vanessa did not like late workers. She watched as one of her bigger guys walked up to this 'Captain' from how she graded what he was carrying and she read their lips as they said with one hand raised to keep the man from walking any further.

"The Boss wants to see you in her Office." Before pointing to the door next to the bar.

Grant shook his head slightly as he took it all in. He was about to approach the bar to order something strong when a larger gentleman approached him, holding a hand out in front of him. He did something already? By Besmara, was this about Rose? Was this another one of those stuffy joints that didn't allow animals? He supposed it could have been his blunderbuss.

"The Boss wants to see you in her Office." The goon had told him, pointing to a door in the direction Grant was heading anyway. The old pirate muttered to himself, using his firearm as a walking stick. He pushed the door open, walking in. Whomever this 'boss' was, she evidently wanted him in there, so he didn't bother to knock.

"Ye?" He asked, annoyance clearly showing in his visible eye. "Whaddya' wan' Lass?"

Rose sqwuacked from his shoulder, mimicking her owners annoyed tone. Grant just wanted a drink, was that so much to ask? This is why he didn't go out. Just because he carried around a blunderbuss doesn't mean he's going to use it.

Vanessa watched the 'captain' walk through the bar and come through the door to her office. His accent wasn't the half botched and terrible fakes that most of her other employee's were trying. This man wasn't one of her people, though the Parrot was annoying it was still yet more proof that this man might be genuine. Though there were a few questions that Vanessa needed to ask to make sure.

With a small intake of breath she began to speak. Even though she wasn't singing her voice would still touch those slight harmonics that made her voice pleasant to listen to, or so say her human employees. "Well, at first I thought you were one of my employees. Now I realize that was a gross misunderstanding." Standing up she brushed the front of her dress to smooth it. After that she brushed a hand through her shocking scarlet red hair. "But I must ask, you look like a captain from my younger days. What ship did you sail on before?"

Grant felt strange when Vanessa began to talk. Her voice sounded so familiar and even. Her dulcet tones soothed his ears, idly making him more receptive to her questions. His thoughts briefly drifted to sirens, a few of which he'd met over the years, they had similar voices to this woman. The old pirate felt his heart swell slightly at being recognized as a true pirate. Most of the kids these days thought he was just dressing up. Cause Play, he believed it was called.

"My ship?" His face split into a wide grin as he took an over-dramatic bow. "Grant Mackenzie, cap'n o' Besmara's finest. Me an' me boys were th' finest set'o sailors aroun'."
The time-lost pirate chuckled, leaning up against the door frame. "A'leas, thass my a'pinion o' things."

Rose flapped her wings from his shoulder. "Skrawk! Man the cannons! Capns on deck!" Grant smiled as he reached a hand up and stroked the parrot's beak, fishing a small cracker out from a pocket and putting it in her beak.

"Any other questions? Or kin I go an' get a drink."
