Schools, in Sándor's experience, tended to be fairly similar. Even if the layouts and amenities varied, there was always a common thread of how things were laid out. It changed over time, but as long as he had a general idea of when the school was built, Sándor had an easy time learning the layout.

Except with Starlight Academy. Starlight Academy made no sense by any standard. The school was old, but it had been added to over and over again. It should have been a mess of a layout, and yet it wasn't. Everything was neatly laid out like the entire school had been magically rearranged several times over the course of it's time.

Which it probably had. That was the issue with magic schools--they were magic, and magic didn't play by any rules. Maybe it was hypocritical for Sándor to think that, considering he didn't play by human rules, but he thought it just the same.

Thankfully the school seemed well aware that figuring things out was painful even for teachers, and had assigned a teacher to show him around on his first day - to show him where his classes were going to be, and to answer any questions he had. Sándor had dressed up a bit for the part--too formal, most likely--but all he could do was wait patiently for his guide to arrive.

Having only been here for a month at most, Cyril didn't expect he would be asked to give a newer-new staff a look around the school. So far, his knowledge of this place was still very limited despite his efforts to often read up on the academy, and he has also only just recently memorized his way around. He was good with directions, but sometimes, he still found himself a bit disoriented as to where in the campus he was.

So when the he entered the office-- as smooth and seemingly flawless his movements were-- Cyril was in fact getting cold hands from the nervousness, and it took a lot of effort to keep any hint of it from really showing. He entered with a few confident strides, before seeing the new face waiting there. There weren't too many people present at the moment, so Cyril guessed he was looking at the right person.

"Good day," he greeted to start as he approached the man--or whatever he actually was. Cyril had already put a gentle smile on his face, and was prepared to keep it on as long as he could. "You're Mr. Sandor, yes? I'm Cyril Dorne. I believe I was given the pleasure of showing you around the academy today."

Sándor's first impression was that his guide was pretty. Not attractive - that wasn't the right word for it. Pretty was. He was slim and proper, well put together in a way that matched Sándor's own. Refined. Really, the only issue at all was the scar on his cheek that marred his image. It stood out like a sore thumb, an obvious sign of some trauma in his past.

It was a shame, wasn't it?

"Yes," Sándor said, giving a small bow. "It's very nice to meet you. Thank you for showing me around - I don't think I should need too much help, but a brief explanation of the school would be appreciated. I haven't taught in an academy of this size in..." Sándor paused for a moment to consider.

"Ever," he finished, having decided that none of the schools matched this one. He had taught in schools informally before the school system had really solidified into its present form, but even those buildings had not been as large as the academy.

"I'm quite excited for the opportunity it presents."

"I'll be honest, I'm quite new here myself." Cyril grinned sheepishly. He thought he'd have to make that clear as soon as possible, to keep Mr. Sandor from having to much expectations of today. The fact that Mr. Sandor was a bit too overdressed already caused Cyril's nervousness to worsen, but still, he managed to keep that hidden.

As they were just about to leave, he felt the need to actually point that out. "Mr. Sandor--or is it Mr. O...lah?--or, well, how do you want me to address you?" Cyril pursed his lips for a moment. He didn't usually ramble or stammer, but this was new territory, being an academy staff, being part of its system rather than just being a student. And similar to Sandor, Cyril has also never been in an academy as grand and intimidating as this one. In any case, he finally continued to his actual point. "We'll be walking around the campus, see. Will you be comfortable in those clothes?"

Compared to Mr. Sandor, Cyril was only wearing a cardigan over a thin button up shirt with its top button undone, and a pair of fitted black jeans. Comfortable enough for walking around. The sun was probably not too much a problem considering that it was no longer so high up the sky, but still, Cyril thought it better to ask just in case.

Sándor was always overdressed. Always. He'd gone out of his way to avoid doing exactly what when he was running around America for fear of drawing attention, but on the island? He really didn't care. Drawing attention wasn't a bad thing on the island. No one was going to panic because he was a vampire. No one was going to freak out because he was well past a hundred years old.

"Just Sándor is fine. If you're being technical, it would have been Oláh Sándor. Hungarian names are reversed, but I opted to flip mine for ease of use since most people put their family names last."

Oversharing? Absolutely. Sándor was used to dealing with enthusiastic students where sharing more information was generally welcome.

"These clothes are fine," Sándor confirmed. "I'm used to wearing them, and they aren't nearly as stiff as they looked." Which was very stiff, and stepped them down to 'still stiff but at least reasonable'. "And please don't worry about your own unfamiliarity - as long as you can show me the things used in a day to day routine, it shouldn't be an issue. I'm happy just for that help."

"Ah. I'll be calling you Sandor, then. And please feel free to call me as you please," Cyril replied. His sheepish grin from a moment ago quickly mellowed down to a small and calm smile, now quite pleased that the other was fine with less hassle speech, despite his outward appearance having given Cyril before a completely different impression. The idea that Sandor's lips didn't seem to be as stiff as his clothes also gave Cyril a sense of ease.

The half-elf took note of those stiff clothes once more. Some people might find it rude or uncomfortable when someone else's eyes trail down their entire body from head to toe and up, but Cyril might have, for the moment, forgotten about that. Well, if Sandor was fine with walking in those clothes, then they're wasn't any problem. Cyril nodded to himself as he thought about it, and then replied, "Then we ought to look around this building first before we head off somewhere else, if that suits you. Or have you gone around this building? Most things that involve paperwork and faculty-related concerns revolve here. Although, of course there are faculty offices in the other buildings as well."

With his right hand, the half-elf finally gestured towards the door that led to the hallway. "Then, shall we?"
