Rae frowned. She looked away from Paul. His words might not have been meant to hurt her, but they did. It made her feel unwanted. They brought her back to the time when her father had said he didn't want her either.

"Too bad you didn't just die when you were born" he had sneered.

Rae shuddered at the memory.

Rae stood. Without a word she began walking again. She brushed against a tree and it tore at the gauze bounding her wound, but she took little notice.

Told you he was a jerk."

Rae sighed.

Rae looked at him emotionlessly. "So...your point is?" She looked at her arm before looking at the ground in front of her.

Rae shrugged. She suddenly began climbing a tree, not paying any attention to the burning sensation in her arm. She finally stopped, her breath ragged.

Rae looked down at him. "Climbing a tree. Can't you tell?" She picked a leaf and dropped it, watching it fall right toward his face.
