"Why do we have to wait until next time to do that? Can't we just do it now?" They were close to the selection of food now. mmm.. food...
It took him a little while to decide what to choose. In the end, he decided on chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, and jell-o. When he reached the cashier, he paid for both himself and Rae when she didn't seem to be paying attention to what he was doing. He grinned as he walked towards a table.
As she sat down, Rae noticed what she had put on her plate. A slice of pizza, green bean casseroll, fried rice and spinach. Not a good combination. She would have a stomach ache later. Rae sent Paul an accusing look. "Why didn't you bring it to my attention that I had gotten a terrible mix of food?"
He had expected an accusation for paying for the food, not for not watching what Rae selected. "...Are you serious? Since when was I like..your father? Were you not paying attention to what you picked? Don't blame me..."
"I never said you were my father," And if you were I'd kill you... She inwardly added. "But a friend would have paid attention and realized I wasn't paying attention." She was joking, but he didn't need to know that.
"Who ever said we were friends?" He looked at her with a curious look. Like her, he was joking. Though his voice didn't have any sort of obvious sarcasm whatsoever. "Besides, that kiss you gave me earlier implies you'd rather me not just be a 'friend' otherwise." He smirked at her with playful look.
Rae tried to keep her face from turning red, but she wasn't very sucessful. So she took a long drink of her water while staring at him over the edge of it.
