"I don't think so. I think it would be better if I did. Won't they come after me now since I'm with you? And I know about them. It would be nice to know about my new enemy. Besides, you're my friend, I don't want anything to happen to you. So please, can you tell me?"
Rae was silent for a while, but finally she began to speak. "I, uh, saw something happen a few years ago. Those men know I saw them do it, too. They threatened to kill me if I told anyone. And since then they've been doing things like this to remind me not to tell anyone anything." She then gasped. "Oh no! I'm going to die now!" She had told him. Not really told him anything important, but she had still told him....
"Something happen, huh?" He crossed his arms and looked away. "What did you see happen?" He didn't seemed concerned about anything else she had said, at all.
"Why not? If you're already in deep trouble for telling me this much, why not tell me the rest? If these people did something bad, then they need to be punished for their sins. Are you just going to let them get away with it? Surely someone was harmed because of their actions, yes? Do you want those people to not get justice? Do you want t live in fear the rest of your life?"
Rae began walking again while frowning. He sure was asking a lot of questions. She couldn't keep track of them all. She sighed and shrugged, trying not to show that his questions hit a little too hard to home. "I just can't tell you, Paul. Okay?"
"Rae!" he grabbed her arm to stop her from walking. "Listen to me. I'm not going to let you live in fear of these guys the rest of your life. There has to be something that can be done to stop them. Do you really think I would let something happen to you? Do you really think Corona would let something happen to you? He has more experience with combat, tactics, and life than we could ever hope to dream of. Could you ask for a better bodyguard? Come on.. please. Don't just let them control your life like this.."
Rae blinked back tears and looked at him with desperate eyes. "I don't want to die too," she whispered. "You just saw that they are capable of killing me. And you nor Corona could keep me safe. What if it was a bullet? Could you stop one of those?"
"But.. Rae..." Great. Now she was about to cry. She really was frightened of these guys. He walked up next to her and hugged her tightly. "I may not be able to stop a bullet with my hands, but I'd do everything I could to make sure it didn't hit you, Rae."
