Alison stood back and crossed her arms, huffing. The smell of chocolate flowed out from her open door just a few feet away, and she wondered if hot cocoa could burn on the stove. She shifted her weight onto one foot; she was wearing her school uniform as always, her skirt rolled up a couple inches and even wearing the socks, but she kept her shoes off for now.
She glanced back at her brother's door, wondering if he was in the shower. It would've been a lie if she said she wasn't feeling anxious; the nights she spent with her brother were always her favorite, so she was excited to spend a little more time with him again. He'd gotten a job and joined the school's soccer team, not to mention she also had plenty of shifts at the cafe, so that meant she got to see him less and less. Nights like these were precious; she liked having her brother's attention and time.
