Thierry looked around more, approaching the pile of sparkles. Come on, she couldn't have just vanished. She was too obvious, a noisy little girl running through people and around traffic and just all manner of dangerous things. She had to be around here somewhere.

Of course, he was so focused on trying to find the little girl that he didn't even think to look in the pile of swept up sparkles that looked like it had just recently exploded again.

So when he got a little closer...

"Boo!"

Thierry screeched.

At least she wasn't running anymore, he thought as he placed a hand over his chest to calm his now rapidly beating heart. "OH GOODNESS. Oh gosh. Ohhhhh..." He groaned. "You scared the bejeesus out of me, little Irie."

Irie giggled cheerfully, jumping around Thierry and making the sparkles fly up like water from puddles. The little batgirl pounced from behind him and wrapped her arms around the older boy's neck in a hug.

"Irie gocchu! Irie love play! Irie want play more! What game play next?"

Irie dropped down to the ground, landing with an 'oof' as she slipped on her sparkles and fell on her butt. She giggled and started flailing her arms and legs as if making a snow angel. Then she paused and noticed Thierry's distress.

"Uh-oh. Did Irie hurt fwend? Irie didn't mean to."

Irie stared up at Thierry, wide eyes looking like she would start sobbing any second now.

Thierry watched her as his heart thrummed in terror. Every corner of his body told him to run away, yet he knew logically that there was nothing for him to really run from. Irie wasn't dangerous or anything, and there was no real reason for him to fear her. Yet the way she jumped out at him had him gasping for breath and desperately wishing to be anywhere that wasn't where he was right now.

For a moment, the small girl that he'd been chasing hadn't seemed to notice his stressed predicament. She was too busy laughing and enjoying herself in her own little pile of glittering sparkles. But it didn't take long for those big eyes to be trained on him, and figure out that he wasn't exactly 'calm' right now.

Though he hadn't been expecting her to start crying.

"N-no, no, I'm--no, I'm not hurt, you know, I'm just.... scared?" He wheezed. "Please don't cry, you're just so spooky when you go 'boo'..."

Thierry reached out to pat her head. "It was... uh, fun playing with you Irie. But where are you parents...?"

Irie ran up and hugged Thierry, tiny arms clinging to his torso. She sniffled and cried, further coating the boy in sparkles.

"Irie didn't mean to be scawy. Irie sowwy. Irie just wanted to play! Irie didn't mean too. Will friend still play with Irie until Mommy finds Irie? "

Irie looked up at Thierry with big, doe-like eyes. She was still crying a little, but that just added to the overall effect of her unresistably cute pleading. His hand on her head seemed to make her calm down a little.

"Pwease friend? No leave Irie? Irie not like being alonely. Irie lost and Irie not know home. Irie stuck. "
