Something about shopping on his own felt scary to the small child, but he was brave and he would do it, just to prove to his older siblings that he could. Walking out of a store that sold magic implements that one wouldn't expect--no wands or staves or books with cursed paged--but a lot of spoons and tablecloths and knitting needles that had various magical functions.

He was decently familiar with the woman who ran the shop, as he walked in and bought a new set of enchanted sewing needles. When the woman asked what he needed them for, as she rang them up and put them into a paper bag, he explained that he'd accidentally stabbed himself in the finger with his last sharp sewing needle, and he couldn't use it now that it had tasted blood.

She nodded sympathetically and took Thierry's allowance, sneaking in a few yards of the fabric he liked to use for his ritual dolls into his bag for free.

Stepping out into the street, he paused to take a deep breath of nice cool October air.

Irie was such a good artist! She had painted all over the entire street with demons and birds and puppies and kitties and fire and rainbows... the place was barely recognizable. There wasn't an inch of ground or wall that didn't sparkle and shine like a disco ball. Even all the cars that were parked and the occasional person. The little girl didn't particularly care WHAT she sparkled, so long as it was covered in glitter by the time she wad finished.

The little girl had been colouring the main street of town all morning, completely unaware that it was being washed off behind her. She progressed down the street to the store where Thierry was, spreading her glitter. As the boy walked out of the store he was hit with a sudden blast of rainbow glitter, painting his entire front with sparkles. Irie giggled and stopped running when she saw she'd accidentally hit a person instead of the door.

"Oopsie!!! Irie missed!!"

Thierry looked into his bag to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything. It would suck to have paid for something only to find out that it had been left on the counter. After he'd assured himself that he hadn't left anything behind, he looked up to start towards home.

"Oof!" He grunted, feeling the wind get knocked out of him. It felt like someone had thrown something at him, although he couldn't tell what. Looking down he was suddenly covered in glitter, so much so that he felt bad for all the people who might be going by on bikes or in cars.

He hoped he wasn't blinding anyone.

"Hey!" he called to the girl. He could tell she was much younger than himself, so he tried not to make his tone too mean. "That's dangerous, you know."

Irie shrunk back a little as the older boy yelled at her, but Irie wouldn't run away. Irie was a good girl and Irie would make it up to him. The little girl stepped up to him and gently wiped away all the sparkles with her small hand, leaving only a small glimmer behind.

"Irie sowwy. Irie no glitter persons. Irie awl fix!"

Irie didn't care much about the boy after that. She ducked around him and began painting the door he's exited from. Purple and blue fish now decorated the door, surrounded by red and pink spots. Irie giggled and started to run off before pausing and reconsidering. The blue fish became a neon green and the pink became a glowing orange-yellow.

"Irie fish!!"

Oh.

Oh no.

He hadn't been trying to sound mean, but the way she shrung away from him was all the indication he needed to know that he'd been a little too harsh. After all, the girl was very small--she probably didn't know what she was doing and she was admittedly very adorable.

Even the way she filled the streets with eye-murdering bright glitter mosaics could be considered charming.

Thierry sighed and ran after her.

"Hey, little girl! Don't you--don't you have uh, guardians, you should be... with, right now?"

Irie decorated a car to look like a cake, and then a store window to look like a black hole, and a section of the sidewalk to look like a river, always a few steps ahead of the boy. The boy musn't have been too mad cause now he wanted to play too! Irie loved playing tag. The little girl swivled around suddenly and paused until Thierry got within reach.

Tapping his arm, the little girl shouted "Tag, Irie not it" and ran off down the street leaving a trail of glitter. Her giggling could be heard clearly as she ran, leaving Theirry far behind if he didn't follow, but she also never strayed from the one street.

"No catch Irie~~"

Thierry was worried about this girl. Little kids shouldn't be around without adult supervision, especially not little kids that had the potential to cause a lot of trouble. Granted, its not like she was hurting anyone, but...

But still...

When it seemed like she was slowing down, he was internally glad. That meant that he wouldn't have to chase her down to make her listen to reason.

Until she tapped him and then ran off again.

"Wha--tag?"

Thierry stared, dumbfounded, and then hung his head.

God damn this.

"Wait! Wait a second!" He yelled and chased after Irie again.

Irie giggled and weaved through cars, always avoiding running into things by a slim gap. There was no way the boy would be able to catch up wuth her like this. She was too fast. Too fast for the silly boy.

"Irie zooooommmmmmm!!!!!!!!"

The little girl tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and fell, landing in a pile of sparkles someone had swept away from the front of their store. A giant cloud of sparkles hid her from view, recovering the cleaned area with glitter. Irie stayed verrryyyy still letting the sparkles keep her hidden so when Thierry caught up she could jump up and go "boo!!"

Oh god, he was not designed to feel stress like this. Chasing after smaller children was not his idea of a fun time, especially not when he was supposed to be going home. But he couldn't in good conscience, leave her be when she had no one around to watch her. That would be irresponsible. And Thierry just liked to think he was better than that.

But at the same time, this little kid was absolutely nuts.

She was running through things and past things that barely had any space at all for her without slowing down at all. It was almost like she wasn't real. How was he slower than a girl that looked and acted like she was half his age? That was just unfair.

He had several complaints.

As he ran and approached a pile of swept up sparkles, he noticed that he'd somehow lost sight of her. "Wh-- where did she--"

Thierry let out a frustrated sigh and cupped his hands around his mouth. "Little girl?" He yelled. He guessed at her name, since she seemed to speak in third person. "Irie?"

Irie waited all sneaky for the boy to come close. Veeerrryyyy sneaky. All Irie had to do was try not to laugh. Unfortunately, Irie wasn't much good at that. The closer Thierry got to her, the harder it was not to laugh. The harder it was not to laugh, the harder it was not to move.

Irie was a good girl though. Irie waited. And waited. And waited. Until POUNCE!! Irie jumped up from in the sparkles and yelled "Boo!!" as loud as she could, getting Thierry covered in the sparkles as they settled. The little girl giggled and hugged her friend's legs, the game of tag completely forgotten. For now.
