Secret Lessons

When Félix asked just how he should do this, Agnés stepped up to him, placing her hands on the rabbit. "You put one of your hands on the back so you can feel the shoulder blades under you palm and the other here on the head, and then you just quickly turn your hands in a nice and fluid motion." She paused a moment looking up at him. "And please be quick, rabbit have one of the most horrid screams."

She stepped back and watched him and as he did it, she felt her self some what surprised how calmly he had been able to do it, she was expecting a horrible scream from the rabbit when he did it too slowly, but they never came.

"Don't be sorry, it's fine." She moved to take the rabbit from him and place its body on the counter besides the knife. Agnés waited a full five minutes before asking if he was ready to start.

The lesson was a quiet affair. Mostly it consist of her tracing lines over the rabbit with finger and telling him that was where to cut next.

Half an hour later they were done. The rabbit barely even looked like a rabbit any more. "Alright, we're all done. Are you feeling ok?" She had been glancing at his face the entire time, making sure that he wouldn't faint and impale himself on her knife.

"Now than it's time for your reward for doing this. Do you have any guesses?" She paused watching him. "If you want a hint you can look in that cupboard for a hint." She pointed at a freestanding cupboard that in it contained only three things, a box of garbage bags, a broom and dustpan, and a pink apron.

Félix's hands were steady once he got to cutting. He was used to cutting things for meals, albeit none so close to life as this rabbit. However, his mind managed to push away the memories of this creature's short life, and soon enough his hands smoothly carved through the rabbit.

Once it was all over, there was hardly a rabbit to look at anymore. It was more akin to what he could pick out in a supermarket. At least with that sight, it was easier to look at it without thinking much of the rabbit from which it came. Granted, he already enduring killing and skinning the rabbit. If he had made it through that, there was no reason he couldn't calm himself down now.

“I'm feeling fine, thank you,” he smiled at Agnés, wiping the knife down and putting it away. She brought up the talk of rewards again. After all this, he still had no idea what she was planning. Even with her hint, Félix seemed as lost as ever.

Garbage bags, broom and dustpan, a pink apron. “Is my reward to... clean the house for you?” Félix rubbed his temple. That couldn't be right, but what else would it be. “Would you like me shirtless as I do so?” he teased.

Agnés looked at Félix with a hungry look in her eyes. "You know, the thought of you being just in that apron hadn't occurred to me, but I must admit that's a rather appealing idea." She chewed on her thumb as she fantasied about him for a minute.

After Agnés had let the joke hang in the air for a long enough time she walked up to him and snatched the apron and threw it on. "It's a pretty cute one, isn't it?" She gave a twirler to show off how she looked in it.

Taking a Tupperware container out of her fridge, she opened it up to show off an abundance of vegetables that Agnés had picked, cleaned, and cut early that morning to be ready. "I'm going to make us lunch. You should get to taste the fruits of your labours. Have you ever gotten to eat a meal where nothing in it had ever been frozen or seen hours in the back of a sweltering truck?"

Agnés hoped that he would like it. She knew it wasn't anything particularly grand, nothing like he was used to, but it was the best she could do. "It's going to be Civet de Lapin. Have you had that before?" With her luck he probably had, and found it boring, but to her it was something that her family would have had only once or twice a year.

"This shouldn't take too long to make since we have have all the prep work already done thanks to everything that you did." She smiled at him, producing a bottle of forty dollar wine, she knew he wouldn't consider it to be a particularly good bottle, but it was the best she could afford on her budget. "You don't have to help if you don't want to, you've already been a big help." She smiled at him.

The cooking didn't take particularly long to complete and she was bringing the plates of food into the front room and putting them on the table in there. There wasn't a couch or even a chair to sit on for the two of them to face one another. She hoped Félix wouldn't sit on the floor but rather beside her on the chesterfield. When he came into the room she patted the seat beside her, hoping that he would sit there.

Félix did find her comment flattering. He managed not to blush too hard at least. He didn't think pink would be a good colour for him though. On Agnés however, it was quite nice. He smiled as Agnés twirled to show it off. He tried not to think about her being shirtless in it, as well.

The reward was finally made clear to Félix. It was lunch, made with nothing but fresh ingredients. When asked if he had ever had fresh-only meals, he shook his head. He actually wasn't sure. Surely his cooks had managed to prepare something fresh rather often, but it was a pointless thing to say when entirely grateful for Agnés' enthusiasm.

“Not in a long time, I don't think,” Félix admitted. He couldn't remember the last time he had rabbit at all, truly. “I'd love to help, though,” Félix offered. He cooked food pretty regularly, especially for his brother Eric. Not a fan of frequenting the café and wanting rather health-conscious meals, Eric was probably a bit spoiled in Félix's cooking.

He noted the wine as well. That wasn't particularly cheap for someone living in a run-down cottage. Félix felt a bit nervous having her use it for such a simple meal, even if in his own family a wine like that would probably only serve as a gift to the footmen. However, he opted not to say anything once again. Rather, he'd be nothing but thankful.

There wasn't much seating. Félix originally planned to sit on the floor, across from Agnés. However, she patted next to her and invited him to sit beside her. As eager as he was, Félix was tentative. He gingerly sat down, setting hes plate in front on the table and turned to smile at her.

“Thank you for everything,” Félix said. He took his first bite of the meal, chewing on the meat thoughtfully. After he swallowed, he smiled, “Thank you for lunch as well. It's lovely.”

Agnés was thrilled when Félix joined her on the chesterfield. When he thanked her all that Agnés could do was smile, her tongue feeling like it was all tied in knots, and she didn't want to risk saying something stupid. While they ate she told him the story from when she was probably six years old and strapped into a sled being pulled by the family dog, when something spooked the dog and it ran off with her in tow.

The food was good, though she felt that it could have been better, and was sure that he had had better in the castle that he once called home.

Once the food was done she took the plates away to the kitchen and left them there to be dealt with later. She sighed, over the entire time they were eating there was one thing that she wanted to do, she steeled her resolve.

She came out to the front room and to the chesterfield where Félix was still sitting. She walked back to where she had been sitting before, but instead of sitting down she turned to face Félix, and then suddenly she was on top of him, her legs straddling his. Her fingers were pressed against his lips while she made a shushing sound. "I know this is greedy of me, but can we just... just be like this for a minute."

Agnés was both happy and near tears as she did this. The day had been such a good day, but now she had gone and ruined it. She wondered if he would push her away, while she could feel her heart screaming out for Félix to kiss her so she could kiss back. "Please don't say anything." And with that she fell into him, holding onto him. Even though she had asked him not to say anything, she found herself straining her ears to hear anything that he might say.

The room went quiet once they finished eating. Félix enjoyed the meal, no matter how much Agnés believed it inadequate. It was an honest joy to have something he did not entirely make on his own, and something that didn't involve a stupid amount of kale or quinoa for Eric's perceived sake.

Félix hadn't moved from his seat, but he didn't plan to run away anytime soon. He did want to spend more time with Agnés. He liked her, certainly more than a certain someone else. Félix actually felt meaningful to someone, for more than what he didn't like of himself.

What happened next, however, was completely unexpected.

Before he could even object, Agnés had her fingers over his mouth. Félix was as red as her hair, heart pounding and mind racing over every detail of why this was wrong and what would happen if Konishi found out. And also how much he wanted this for himself.

“But – Agnés I have -” she asked him not to speak, and rested against his body. She'd feel his heart racing, his breath shallow and racing. His hands, however, held her gently. He didn't push her away. By God he would never push her away.

Damn himself for what he was about to do. But damn Konishi. Damn everyone but Agnés. He wouldn't say anything. Instead, he gave Agnés her wish. He shifted Agnés up, so their eyes could meet, and with a gently forceful hand in her hair he pulled her lips against his.

Agnés knew that Félix started to say something, but the words were just a jumble in her mind, and then something happened that until that very moment existed in the most wild of her fantasies. Félix moved her, and now she was looking right into his red eyes. When she felt the gentle and warm force on the back of her head, she didn't resist, and when their lips met she could feel her body melting away along with any memory of those jumbled words he had spoken before.

She held his face as she kissed him back. Her hands wrapped around him, her nails digging into his back. If it was ten second or an hour that they were there for, she couldn't have told anyone, to her it felt like both.

When she felt a wondering hand around the hem of her shirt, she took it in her own hands and then pressed it to her chest so that he could feel her heartbeat. Maybe if he could feel her heartbeat that would mean she wasn't the monster she knew that she was. Though she never quite realized it, this was the first time that no part of psyche wanted her to no longer exist, she wanted to be here, with Félix.

It was another minute of kissing before she finally had her fill. She pulled away, pressing her forehead to his. "I, uh, think we should stop for now." She didn't actually want to, there was so much more that her heart was telling her to do, but she knew it would be wrong. Despite what she had said she remained where he was, still pressing his hand to her as she watched his eyes.

It was wrong. It was also seemingly long forgotten before they broke away from each other. Félix did not want to stop feeling her heart beat. Konishi never seemed to have a heart beat herself. Nothing about her felt alive, no emotions and no remorse. Agnés was everything different, everything he'd rather have.

Félix breathed heavily still once their lips pulled away. He wrapped his arms around Agnés' waist, afraid to let her go. He closed his eyes and enjoyed her scent. He could hear her breathing too, hear her alive.

“I... I don't want to stop,” Félix gently kissed her cheek, but he didn't push her any further. He was desperate for the affection, but he also knew just how desperate he was. He'd do anything for a taste of it, anything to wash out the loveless stain.

Still, she was right. This was wrong. If she found out even this much, all hell would break loose. A part of him still argued that it was worth the risk, that he was went this far with Agnés and there was no reason in his heart to turn back.

“I don't mean to push you,” Félix suddenly added. He smiled, eyes half-lidded. “But... I'm very happy like this.”

It was right. It was long forgotten by her body just how good it felt to be suddenly held until now. Agnés didn't want to stop feeling the warmth of his body around her, but she was afraid that if this went any further today, it would be just a flash in the pan, that he would become bored with some girl who would jump on him at the first chance she got. So now she just held him back.

When Félix told Agnés that he didn't want to stop and kissed her cheek, she looked back at him stroking his hair, and with a gentle voice. "I know you don't. I don't either." She kissed his forehead.

When Félix said just how happy he was to be there with her, she just gave him a hug that was as tight as she could muster. "I am too, but that's why we need to stop." She wore one of her happier masks as she pulled back and looked at him. "We can always pick this up next time, right?" Agnés couldn't help herself and kissed him once more, though only for a few moments this time, though with each moment she could fell her resolve draining.

Slowly she moved to get out of his grasp, but she was leaving the decision to him, if he gave any resistance she wouldn't fight him. She wanted him to keep her there.

He lost nearly all his energy in agreeing to let her go. Félix remained on the couch, on his back, while he felt Agnés' weight remove itself. He already missed her. Félix desperately wanted to cry, that the moment he returned to campus he was Konishi's slave again. And she would hurt him and mistreat him until she twisted a sensuous touch into an instrument of torture.

He couldn't though. Not in front of Agnés. “Next time... of course.” He started to chuckle. “Hey... about that parfait...” He turned on the couch, sitting up to smile at Agnés. He adjusted his hair, untangling it with his fingers, “What do you think?”

It was getting late though. If he didn't head back to the campus soon, he'd probably make Konishi wonder. And if she wondered, paranoia wasn't far behind. He did need to go.

“I should get going. I still need to do schoolwork and practise music.” He stood up from the chesterfield and headed towards her front door. He gave Agnés one more kiss on the cheek before slipping on his shoes. “I will see you soon, promise.”
