Schedules. Jude had been homeschooled for a while, and before that he'd simply had a schedule handed to him. Manta Carlos, on the other hand, was way more accommodating. They had worked with him to hammer out his schedule, let him avoid entire classes that would be mind-numbingly boring, and now all he had to do was stop by the administration office and pick up his schedule for the new school year.

Easier said then done.

There was a line, and they were grouping everyone by school year, sliding them all into groups and calling them in by grade level. Jude had very nearly got slid into the college division simply because no one had recognized him, but eventually he was shunted over to the big YEAR TWELVE sign on the wall and told to wait.

Only he was the only one there, which was, to say the least, pretty awkward.
Intended to be a rapidfire thread for any people who are going to be seniors in the coming year. Tagging @Lazzy and @Nameless who showed interest.

Despite only being here for 6 months, Dulce was rated high enough to move on to senior year. She didn't really get what the big deal was. So what if she got new classes and maybe new teachers? She didn't understand why some people were really excited about it. If she had to be excited about anything, it would be the fact that she'd still be with Aaron. Hopefully. They already separated them by forcing her to be in her own dorm instead of being with him, but surely they wouldn't put them on different classes. RIght? Well anyway, Dulce got in line for the schedules, following a guy with a cool metal hand. "So, you're moving up to the next grade too, huh?"

It was that time of year again, some graduating from school, some just moving up in the school grade system, and with it came these lines. The tip of her tail lightly tapped on her stomach as she hummed, Dulce in front of her, a guy around their age just in front of them.

Unlike their companion, they'd been raised on the island, had gone through the motions of moving up a grade every year, it was normal to her.

"Well I'd hope so love, otherwise they're probably in the wrong line," she'd say with a chuckle, giving Jude a wave, "hey there, don't think we've met, I'm Aaron." She didn't recognize him, didn't mean he was new but new people always seemed to be popping in.

Tibs tapped on Jude's shoe and stared up at him before climbing his pants to his shoulder and squeaking somewhat conversationally. It wasn't long after that Rory popped up right at Jude's side, nearly throwing an arm around him before remembering herself.

"Cool. Senior class of — Oh, hi." She grinned at the two she didn't know and waved a little, sweepy Tibs from Jude's shoulder to set the rat in the pocket of her jacket, where another rat resided as well.

It wasn't long before Jude had someone else join him in line, but when he glanced behind him, it turned out not to be one person, but instead two - both girls, and shortly after followed by the face of a (very familiar) third. If Jude was bothered by a literal rat climbing him, he sure didn't show it, mostly just making way for the rat to get up to his shoulder.

"More like jumping grades up from remedial," Jude admitted. "They admitted they try and get people out of remedial and into their proper grade as fast as possible, so I guess it's not that surprising. I'm Jude," he said, offering his hand to Dulce, and then to Aaron.

It was, truth be told a little weird to keep a straight face knowing what he did, but he was doing at least a moderately good job of it, playing it off as standard new-school-nerves.

"You two have been on the island longer than us I guess?"

Senior year, whoopie. Jennifer Fairchild didn't have the energy or desire to be even remotely excited about her last year of school. There was no reason to be--senior pictures, senior pranks, a spring break filled with alcohol and booze and liquor? Ugh. Boring. She could already feel her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

Like she did every year, Jennifer stepped into line for her schedule, arms crossed and a far, far less than ecstatic expression on her face. She ignored most of the people standing in front of her, only taking a second to glance at Jude with a slow blink before looking away again. New kids were nothing new around here. She just wanted to get this over with.

. . .

Callum Castor stepped into line behind Jennifer Fairchild, his hands in his pockets and a perpetually amused look on his face. "Looking photogenic as always, Jenny," he said smoothly. Jennifer looked blandly at him and looked away again, scoffing. Callum snickered and shrugged, looking past her towards the few other people that had arrived before him. He was still vaguely surprised he'd managed to get here early for once. Mom would be so proud. She'd take a picture and send it to Grandma.

"Hey," he said to everyone else in line. His tail flicked from side to side as he said, "Early cats get the bird, huh?"

Dulce stared at the rat while it climbed up the person with a metal hand and wondered if this was a shape-shifter. It was hard to tell in this place. Anyone could be anything, and she wouldn't know until it was too late. Quite a few people turned up shortly after, one of them being the only person she personally knew and had the hots for. After Aaron, there was another girl who appeared out of nowhere who took the rat off of the guy's shoulder. She had two rats? Either they're her pets or she was just giving rides to shape-shifters. And considering that she was somewhat of a shape-shifter, a horrible one, but one nonetheless, she was jealous she couldn't have that kind of treatment. Sometimes she just wanted to be carried somewhere without it looking weird. She grinned at the girl with the rats and said "Hi!" back. "Oh, you took remedial too? Same here! Well, that was before when I was dropped into 11th and now I'm here." Dulce took Jude's hand and shook it firmly. "I'm Dulce, nice to meet you. I've actually only been alive for six months." There were more people coming into line, one girl who seemed to be too cool to be here and then a guy with the fluffy ears she couldn't help but widen her eyes at with a smile of awe spreading across her face. "Well, getting this over with quickly is way better than waiting in line for half the day."

She'd watch the rat a moment and give Rory a smile and wave, "I've been here my entire life, it's always fun seeing new faces." There always seemed to be someone new popping up from one place or another, "you two new...ish? Well, welcome to the Island," she'd shake Jude''s hand. "Still adjusting to all the magic?"

Aaron would glance at the cat boy, "oh my, cat puns? Well at least we'll be entertained while we wait," she'd say with a chuckle. She'd giggle a bit at Dulce, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"I'm Aaron," she'd again introduce herself, this time to the cat boy and the grumpy looking girl.

Jude gave a wave as two more people joined them in line. A very uninterested looking girl who seemed completely uninterested in what was going on, and an honest to god catboy who seemed far more friendly.

Janelle would be delighted.

"I'm Jude," He said, re-introducing himself for the newcomers before glancing towards Dulce and Aaron. "Six months? That seems... uh, wild." Definitely new, but not exactly unheard of. Who knew how demons grew? It was the sort of thing he'd have to ask Chloe about if he thought about it hard enough, just to know for sure.

"We're both new," Jude confirmed on behalf of himself and Rory, answering Aaron's question. "Magic isn't that weird for us, but some of the other stuff is. Island culture's pretty different."

Hard not to notice the kiss, so Jude lobbed back with a question of his own. "You two dating?"

"God I hope so," Rory said to Jude's last question. "Otherwise we're going to get into weird explanation territory, I'm sure."

And speaking of cat people, Tab gave one look to Callum, squeaked, and hid in Rory's pocket until only his shivering tail could be seen. Rory grinned and patted her pocket. "Don't worry about Tibs and Tab, they get spooked by cat people. And cats... Anyway! I'm Rory Phillips. Nice to meet everyone."

Although Rory didn't offer her hand, too busy sizing everyone up. A habit of her heroing days. She'd never been as warm as Jude, ironically.

"But what Jude said is right, we're used to magic. It's the shapeshifting and all the different species' that has us thrown for a loop."
