This is an emergency. Come to the courtyard immediately.
-K
I'm wearing stupid Easter get up.
-K
I've been waiting for like 5 minutes. I said immediately.

Those were the messages she sent to her boyfriend. Konishi had planned a picnic on Easter. Not that she wanted to poison his tea or anything. She could at least put up the appearances that they were a normal, loving couple. Though something seemed to have happened that triggered a different response in Konishi.

Today, she wore something other than dark red, dark blue or blacker than black. It was a floral-patterned sweet lolita dress, in dark florals. She looked much better like this, though she wouldn't wear anything lighter. It would clash with her polymorphic carapace and her hair. Feeling some Easter cheer (or rather, pretending that she was), she even donned a pair of fluffy white bunny ears.

"There you are. That took fifteen minutes. You could do better." Konishi commented, her hand on a hip. Her snarkiness seemed to resemble the rabbit from Winnie the Pooh. In one hand, she held the picnic basket.

"Our date will have to be postponed. There is a more important matter at hand. Look. What is this?"

She produced a little egg wrapped in foil and shoved it under Félix's nose for inspection.

Félix was horribly out of shape, he decided. Or, perhaps more likely, Konishi's demands were utterly insane. As much as he wished he could sprint from literally across the campus to the main courtyard in less than five minutes, his powers were not super speed.

By the time Félix did arrive, he was out of breath and exhausted. He leaned over, struggling and gasping for huge amounts of oxygen right up until Konishi shoved a chocolate egg right under his nose. He looked up for a moment, studying her bunny ears and curiously more festive getup. She looked cute, admittedly.

“That's a Cadbury Creme Egg. It's a chocolate egg with cream filling, though it's more like icing in my opinion.” He didn't understand why this was important. “I'm sorry I'm late. I won't be late again.” He was too busy catching his breath to whimper and grovel.

“What is this about?” He asked Konishi, curious as to why, instead of tormenting him or others, she decided to focus so much attention on a piece of candy.

"Oh, ew." Konishi wrinkled her nose at the mention of a creme filling that was more like icing. "Well, at least it's chocolate. That's what's most important." She put the egg in her picnic basket again.

"This is about winning," Konishi responded. "There's an egg hunt going on. We're going to get all the eggs, and you're going to help. I've already scoured under the bushes and in burrows."

Konishi motioned behind her. She seemed to have uprooted every flower, cut through every bush and pierced everything in her sight. The Landscaping team was going to have a field day. So was Félix.

"There are eggs hidden in trees and high places though, as I've been informed." Two boys already beat her to a tree filled with an Easter Egg nest. "You're going to help me. This will be a great chance to control your powers. Or you could just climb trees, if you wanted to."

How was this an emergency? An Easter egg hunt? Félix did not think Konishi to be the festive type. As it turned out, he was partially right. There was nothing festive about her interest in this hunt. To her, it was a competition. If she didn't win, Félix would suffer the consequences. If they did win, he would still suffer but not quite as much. The choice was sadly obvious.

“Alright. I'll help,” Félix sighed, defeated. He didn't have much choice in the matter. He looked over the courtyard, noting the hacked apart bushes and clumps of flowers strewn out of the ground. Konishi was already well at it.

He looked over the trees and exhaled. “Which ones have you checked so far?” he asked. From out of his palms grew thin tendrils, ready to scour each and every tree for any hidden baskets or bags. Unlike Konishi, he planned to be delicate about it.

The first tree he checked did bear a bit of chocolate fruit. Way high up, obviously missed by every other student, was a small basket of Easter eggs. His tentacle delicately wrapped around the basket and pulled it out of the tree.

However, it wasn't all according to plan. Upon bringing it down, Félix accidentally bumped the basket against a branch, and almost all of the eggs tumbled out and collided with every branch coming down. Félix gasped, “I'm sorry,” to Konishi.

Xenia Asgonne
~~~
Xenia had begun her hunt the moment she heard word of her prey. Not an evil villain or a terrible monster, but small, brightly wrapped chocolate eggs. At the peak of commercialism, Starlight had begun a giant egg hunt, promising fame and fortune to the winner. Her plan of attack was simple- she would start in the big, open, obvious places that would be soon picked clean and work her way to the more inconspicuous, secretive places. She popped out of the large school building and began raking through the courtyard for any eggs she could find.
Soon, she came to an uprooted flower. Assuming a groundhog must have ruined it (do groundhogs even live on the island?), she moved on. Soon, she came across another uprooted flower, then another, and another. Soon, entire bushes had been cut in half, and she even spotted trees with huge slash marks. She didn't know many of the students yet, but any student with powers that could destroy a tree made her shudder.
She glanced around, looking for the monster that could have caused this kind of damage, and couldn't help but smile when she saw a girl dressed all in Easter garb. It looked good on her, but she couldn't help but think that it looked strangely out of place. The girl seemed to be yelling at someone, a boy. Xenia smiled and began walking over to them, hoping to make some friends and maybe some comrades in the egg hunt.
As she got closer, she began to see something move from the boy's hands. Tendrils were coming out of his hands! They were spreading all over the courtyard, covering every bush and rock. Xenia clamped a hand over her mouth. This must be the monster who destroyed the other half of the Courtyard! She was already too close it them to look casual. She had to think quick.
"H.... Hey..... guys....."
Smoooooth.
She sighed in resignation when she saw his lack of finesse, her arms shrugging.
"Come on, Félix. Am I going to have to climb a tree?" She saw the colourful jewel-like wrappers of the eggs glisten between branches. She didn't check any of the trees so far. Just whoever hid these eggs must love climbing trees, or they were really good at climbing trees in a bunny suit.
"You could at least help me up with your..."
Well, someone just walked on them, and their introduction was no smoother than Félix's blunder. In fact, Félix seemed to make bumping the basket full of eggs every branch on the way down look like it was Swan Lake. Konishi looked like she was about to glare daggers, until something crossed her mind. She smiled politely.
"Oh hello!" She said cheerfully. She glanced at the girl's attire. "You're wearing... Pretty nice clothes. I'm just no good at climbing trees in this dress or these shoes. Would you mind helping us out?"
"We'll split the spoils." She added.
“I'm sorry. I'm sorry,” Félix bit his lip in shame. He really was a clutz, but rarely did he produce tentacles this long and this dextrous. He was lucky enough to even wrap it around the basket, let alone try to pull it down from the tree.
He couldn't believe he had to do this for her. Buying some chocolate would have been far easier and, frankly, probably more economical once he factored in losing a whole day to this folly. Alas, what Konishi desired was simply his to fulfil, and any rejection of her whims would result in vicious retaliation.
“Look, I'll try to get them,” Félix grew even thinner tendrils, trying to snatch each individual egg caught in the branches. It wasn't going so smoothly, but it would avoid making Konishi do work. And would avoid a lashing or two.
But what Félix worried more than a lashing was someone else receiving one. An unfamiliar voice distracted him, a girl who would only seem dark in complexion next to Félix. The moment Konishi tried to recruit her to their cause, Félix was trying to stare Xenia down and shake his head to her. Without Konishi seeing him warn the new girl to get away.
He managed a few of the eggs, but some were hard to reach, “I think I'm quite alright Konishi. Really...” Félix forced a chuckle.
Xenia Asgonne
Xenia kept a fake smile plastered on her face as the girl spoke to her. She was really pretty, like a china doll. She seemed rather nice, and even invited Xenia to help her. Oddly enough, she felt as if there was some kind of invisible undertone she was missing here. She blink at her request and looked up the tree. Leaves and eggs were still dropping from the tree that the boy's tendrils had attacked, and Xenia contemplated climbing it.
Climbing takes FAR too much effort, she thought. There was no way she'd do it under any normal circumstance, but she'd already dedicated herself to the egg hunt and, well, she'd be expending some effort anyway. She wondered briefly if she could use her speed to simply run up the tree, but then she remembered that the pair in front of her would see her, and that means they'd know that all she could do was run, and then the scary boy might eat her or something. Speaking of the pair, they were still waiting for a response, she remembered.
"Oh, ah, yeah. I guess I could," she finally mumbled. She was obviously on a magical island filled with magical people, and all of them were probably going to have scary powers. She had to stop being needlessly afraid of her classmates and at least attempt to make friends. She walked over to another nearby tree and look hard into the foliage.
"I think there might be some in this tree too! I'll go check it out, I guess." She jumped as high as she could, grabbing onto the lowest protruding branch of the tree and began to steadily climb her way up, sticking to thicker, stronger branches. It turns out there were eggs at the top of the tree. A whole basket of pink ones were floating on a small branch that was just tantalizing out of her reach....
She saw what Félix was trying to do with Xenia, and she stepped on his foot to halt his head-shaking. Kicking his shins was... Too mean. It was Easter, luckily for Félix. Jesus died for humanity's sins so that Félix wouldn't have to suffer... As much. He'd have to suffer the rest of the holidays, including Christmas.
The girl didn't want to climb the tree she suggested, but she was already making her way up another one. "Okay. Wow, you're really athletic! Does your powers have to do with athleticism?" Konishi praised.
"Félix, help me up with your tentacles. I'll get the rest of them." She was acting unusually happy. With the bunny ears on it didn't make her look any cuter, but seemed rather uncanny that she was in such a good mood.
Well, she was a good actress.
With Félix's strong black tendrils lifting her up, she managed to find her footing on the branches. She felt steady enough, even with her platform shoes, to climb across the trunks and the branches. She already found two large eggs and held them proudly to show Félix.
"Catch!"
She threw the two eggs down.
"I'll be okay. Why don't you go see how she's doing?"
She moved up higher into the tree, like a careful cat.
Félix winced the moment Konishi stabbed down on his foot. He wasn't winning this battle, and sure enough Xenia noticed nothing at all. Félix was still frowning, but with Konishi right beside him he had no choice but to pretend to some degree that everything was fine between them.
Little did he know she was more terrified of him than his girlfriend. Poor girl, she didn't realize anything at all. On the other hand, Konishi was doing a disturbingly good job at being happy and excited about all this. If Félix was happy, being stepped on his foot would be the worst she did to anyone.
While Xenia launched herself up the tree, Konishi demanded he helped her up. Félix wrapped his tendrils around her, lifting Konishi into the tree and waiting for whatever she tossed down. He wasn't a very good catch though. One of the eggs landed on the ground and partially caved in. It was quite creamy...
Once Konishi seemed fine, he released his tentacles and checked with Xenia. She was reaching for a basket high up. “Here, I can help,” Félix wrapped one of his tentacles around the branch, bending it closer to Xenia so she could collect the goods.
Unfortunately, at the same time, Konishi had started to slip from her footing. Before Félix could react, she was about to tumble right out of the tree.
"Konishi!?" he yelled out the moment he realized what was happening.
