Article/Blog Post Summary: Amber, who's running for student council president; Mari Guinto, who's going for any position available; and Azucena Woods, who's running for treasurer, were interviewed by Sprinkles of the Mass Media Club.
Who's It Targeted at?: Students at Starlight Academy and anyone keeping up with the election taking place.
Link to Thread: No thread. Pallas sent me a list of how Amber would answer the interview questions.

Q1: What made you want to run for the position of student president and why now?

“I want to run for student president because I want to help people. As president, I can help by reaching out to my fellow students and help propose solutions that can benefit everyone coming to Starlight Academy. As for why now, well previous elections I felt that I was too young at the time. Now, however, I feel that I am mature enough to handle those responsibilities.”

Q2: The heart of a campaign lies in better integrating incoming new students’ life on the island. What motivates you to tackle these issues?

“It’s no secret that Starlight Academy occupies a special place as it accepts so many different peoples from all over the planet and beyond. But a lot of incoming students are always having trouble adjusting to life here when they first arrive. I guess it’s all so very… overwhelming for these new students when they first come and it is hard for them to make those important connections. Having to talk to new students so is what really motivates me to try come up with ways to better help them.”

Q3: How do you plan to help new, incoming students adapt to the island’s diversity and culture. Especially those whom are unused things to what might be considered the supernatural?

“Oh, I’m glad you asked! The island actually does have some great resources already established that could really help new students. The problem is that many of them underutilized or that the students never knew where available. Things like the school councilors or the various clubs can really help out many the kids who have many unsure feelings about coming to this island, especially when they have little say in coming here or not. But one of the big ideas I have is to see about having an orientation program where incoming students are gathered up and shown around the school. Since these would be all new incoming students these orientations will also serve as ice breakers to get to know one another to foster friendships. Even have some fun teamwork exercises to help get people to know one another before having their first classes together!”

Q4: Another issue you're concerned with is combating student harassment against on what the outside world considers traditionally malevolent beings. Why do you feel this is a big issue facing the academy?

“As progressive as our home here is, it's inevitable that some old prejudices or grudges against the islands many species exist. It is also an especially scary thought when such things lead to violence, like when my mom, Chloe Black, was doused with holy water. Though my mom was unharmed in the incident, it was terrifying to think that someone out there may have wanted to hurt my mom and it was stressful for her. It also reinforces stereotypes people have with demon-kind using holy water or other blessed artifacts to inflict harm. And though incidents like this and demonstrations led by Citizens Against Evil highlights the animosity against demons, I would like to point out that this harassment extends to angels, fae, and even humans. All of us are bound to face some sort of unfair harassment over who we are and I hope I can help with ways to preventing such things for I believe that people should judge not by what the content of their character.”

Q5: What steps have you considered to remedy these issues?

“Once again, the school has many excellent resources for this thing. There are entire seminars and courses dedicated to educating students about the misconceptions about the various species this island host. There are even clubs such as the Demonic Student Union that take an active role in helping to foster understanding and community between the many diverse people that come here. I think its important that people whom are harbor such prejudges against a particular race be directed to these sooner so that they can learn that these groups of people are not as bad they predisposed them to be. I also want to see about looking into the feasibility in controlling the access and bringing in of potentially harmful substances to the academy. Things such as holy water, while an important in some religious and academical purposes, should be scrutinized as any other dangerous chemical or weapon due it effects on most demons.”

Q6: Any last words for our readers?

“Uhhh… vote for me pretty please? Ha ha ha! Okey uhh, serious mode now… to all you readers, if you believe in my merit as a person to represent s students or agree with my platform then be sure to vote for me, Amber Black, for president during the elections! I would really appreciate your support and will do everything in my ability to make our school the best place to learn and the safest place for everyone.”
