They'd move up the hill, it was a easy climb, his arm was wrapped around Maisie's waist, sunglasses shielding his eyes from the light. "The sun feels nice it's warm," he'd look to her and grin, "though having a certain adorable farm girl close isn't half bad either."

Once they reached the top, he'd surprise her with a kiss to the cheek, before chuckling and setting up the picnic. "Nice of Maisie Dukes to join her Shortcake for a picnic," he'd flash a fanged grin and adjust the sun charm to make sure it was secure, before taking his seat and motioning her join him.

"Are your aunt's pies good?" he'd ask, gently poking her ribs where he knew she was ticklish, "they smell good, had to resist taking a bite, wanted to wait and share it with you." @Lucidity

"Isn't half bad," Maisie Belle scoffed and smacked Ash's arm on their way up to the top. She was clad in a tanktop, jean shorts, and her classic cowgirl boots as always; she wasn't looking to burn up in the heat of summer and ruin the picnic with her sweat. "Guess I can count on you for never inflatin' my ego too big."

Maisie stood back as he set everything up, then went to take a seat--only to promptly swat and kick at Ash for getting her in a ticklish spot. "You keep doing that and I'm scootin! I will sit all the way across this hill if I have to!" She huffed and shifted her ribs away from him, going to poke through all the foods and see what he'd packed for them.

"Aunt Pam's pies are the best, and if you don't think so then she'll bake an extra special pie just for you." She picked out a nice sandwich on a paper plate and set it on her lap. "Aunt Pam didn't tell me you'd gone over to her house. How long've you been planning this for? Should I be concerned that you 'n my aunt are in cahoodles?"

He'd smile and wrap an arm around her, grabbing a sandwich as he did, "been planning it for about a week now," he'd say, flashing that smirk he knew she liked. "Choodles?" he'd laugh a little, "oh yes, we're planning your downfall, if by downfall you mean setting up a nice date for a certain adorable farm girl." He'd take a bite of his sandwich, happy he could eat normal food.

"She did ask for something in return," he'd chuckle a bit, "but we'll take care of that a bit later." He'd adjust his sunglasses to make sure no light slipped in, "she said it was something she was going to get either way, so that we might as well hand it over instead."

Ash's nose twitched, his eyes going to the pies, "was gonna wait to have them at the end, buuuuuuut, they do smell good." He'd start cutting pieces for both of them, "you like the spot, farmland out here, I thought you'd like it."

Maisie jumped when his arm wrapped around her again, having totally expected more rib pokes or ruthless tickles. She grumbled and eventually relaxed though, leaning against him. "What? Ash, you can't just mention her wanting something and not tell me what it is," she huffed. "Now y'all got me too curious! I'll bug you the whole time, don't you try me! What is it?"

She made a face at Ash for his withholding of information, but paused when he started to touch the pies. "Aaaash, I thought you knew better than that! You're gonna ruin your meal if you just eat it all now!" She moved to take the knife and pie away from him and set them off to the side and out of his reach. "Just enjoy the food and we can have some pie later; It'll be more worth it that way."

Maisie pouted and took another bite of her sandwich, refusing to take even a single bite or lick of the pie yet. "Yeah, the spot's pretty nice. What's wrong with the hill up by Aunt Pam's farm, though? Afraid she'd spy on us?" she said with a teasing tone and a nudge with her elbow. "She'd never let you hear the end of it if you tried to kiss me in front of her."

"But it smells so good," he'd say, fake pouting for a second before grinning, "fine, I'll eat the sandwiches first." He'd return to eating his sandwich, his arm still wrapped around her, "while I didn't make the pies I did the sandwiches, hope they're good," he was somewhat joking, after all sandwiches were simple and so it was rather difficult to mess up.

He'd nod a little, "I thought you'd like somewhere a little private for a date," he'd snug her a bit, "no one to poke and tease you....at least not yet anyways, I'd imagine your aunt will want us over for dinner eventually." While he did like teasing her, he knew she'd like a little time away from that before the family started to tease them.

Ash's nose would twitch a little as it picked up the scent of a squirrel he believed was watching then from the nearby tree. "Plus...I wanted to make this romantic for you, even kept an eye on the weather to make sure it'd be nice," it was his first date in a long time, so he wanted to make sure he did it right.

"No one to poke and tease me? Well then what have you been doing this whole time?" She jabbed him between the ribs and made a silly face. "My aunt wants everyone over for dinner, dang it. We think she must be awful lonely up at that farm of hers. Ain't like the goats can tell jokes."

Maisie took another bite of her sandwich, chewing slowly. She was in no hurry to get away from here. "Romantic for me? What about romantic for you?" she said, quirking a blonde eyebrow at her boyfriend. "Not that I don't appreciate the effort, I do. You gotta feel the love too, though, else I can't enjoy myself." She leeeaned to pick a few blades of grass and straightened up, sprinkling them over Ash's head. Clearly the most romantic gesture in the world. Maisie sure was grinning.

"How're you enjoying the sun, anyways? That fancy new charm of yours sure must be a relief."
He'd been crying before they left, after all. She was still worried about him, but he seemed to be enjoying himself nonetheless. "I didn't think those sorts of things existed, but I guess on an island full of preternatural people, anything's possible. I bet there's even a magic butter churner I could buy...I miss my butter churner. Store-bought just ain't the same."

He'd steal a kiss when she made a silly face, snapping a quick picture of them kissing as he did, "I'm being a good boyfriend and keeping entertained with my charm and fangs," he'd smile and chuckle a bit. "Well, we can always go over there and keep her company, I can't cook much but we can still hang around and help with things."

"I'm happy if your happy," he'd kiss her cheek, "besides, I like it up here too, nice and romantic." He was enjoying it, being in the sun with her, having a picnic, it felt good, felt normal, the simple act of having a date in the sun.

"The sun feels nice, it's warm," he'd grin a bit, his fangs showing, "the charm was worth every penny to be able to be up here with you." He'd adjust his sunglasses, his eyes were still sensitive to sunlight but that was easily worked around.
