I've had bad storms back then, so I'm sure they won't be much of a problem. I also hope the days to come will be wonderful."

"Oh! that's good then, you'll be prepared for them. I always worry with the new guests, some of them think hurricane season is a great time to go to the beach," he shook his head sadly.

]You've been here for quite a while, have you? I'm sure I can rely on knowing I'll be able to have a good stay here.I'd like to visit your museum one time when I'm free! It's a refreshing view to see things from the past. There is much I haven't seen despite my time here. I'm not quite a student, though I do work at the academy. Pardon me if my appearance is misleading but I'm quite older than you expect. ^^;

Ripley blushed a little, quite pleased, and he took a sip of his coffee as he read. When he set the cup back down, he was smiling. "I'd be happy to show you around the museum, and the island, if you'd like. There are so many wonderful places here."

He was pleased to find out that she was older than he though, too. He visibly relaxed.

He adjusted his glasses again, a habit that was probably starting to get quite annoying and said, "When I first came here, I worried I would get bored here quickly. I mean, it's an island. There are defined limits...but there is always something interesting happening here."

Like, for example, the fact that the waitress returned with a small rotisserie chicken and placed it on their table.

"I'm sorry m'am we didn't order any chicken--" Ripley said, raising his hand to get her attention.

"On the house, chef said congrats on meeting a nice lady, Rips," the waitress said without turning around. She was too busy bussing a table to answer his protests.

"It appears," Ripley said, turning back to her, "that we now have a chicken."

It did smell wonderful, but Ripley was unfortunately just not that hungry.

"Ahh..."

Tamara made a soundless laugh. She found his mannerisms rather endearing. "I would love a tour! I honestly would have explored myself but I do find it difficult to go around by myself," came her response.

True, the place was really just an island but the places around were interesting and she had actually wanted to go explore the area when she found the time. Unfortunately, even if she did, it wasn't easy to walk around alone in the city especially with a condition like her's, (well, her body, not herself per se.) She would need to figure something out before she could walk around on her own.

Tamara placed her tablet down on her lap as Ripley continued to talk, with her listening. She was just about to compose a reply when the waitress returned to their table, but the first thing she noticed was Ripley's reaction. The entire scene there almost made her chuckle but all she did was raise a hand to her lips, as if to stifle a laugh.

"I do suppose it's more about the people than the place itself, don't you think so?

Ah, but I do apologize, I'm not that quite feeling hungry today so I might have to pass..."

"I would love a tour! I honestly would have explored myself but I do find it difficult to go around by myself,"

Not knowing about her condition, Ripley simply nodded and said, "It can be quite a challenge. I swear, the downtown changes every day. It seems like not that long ago, the strip was just another quiet street!"

"I do suppose it's more about the people than the place itself, don't you think so?

"I suppose you're right," Ripley said. He eyed the chicken infront of him and sighed. "It's seems a shame to waste such a nice offer, but I'm afraid I just cannot stomach another meal today."

Ah, but I do apologize, I'm not that quite feeling hungry today so I might have to pass..."

"you too? Well, no sense in letting it go to waste, I'll--" Ripley picked up the plate but his thumb accidentally touched the end of the chicken the same moment he felt like he was going to get the hiccups

Oh no, not now.

But it was too late. Ripley had the hiccups, and with one particular squeel, a wave of power escaped his fingertips and entered the chicken.

"oh...oh goodness I do believe I've fucked up," he said, the last two words a complete change from his normal demeanor.

The chicken started to twitch, and then it came to life.

The thoughts of wanting to hit the town suddenly came up again. She'd wanted to, and she could, but she always needed to take precaution that her chronic asthma wouldn't ruin her fun. Curse this weak human body. Not able to smile, Tamara just typed out another smiley on her screen along with, "I'd had really been planning to go out but... unfortunately, I don't have a very strong body as I wanted."

The invisible spark didn't go unseen from the parasite's eyes. Despite the fact she wasn't directly looking at Ripley at that moment, her senses were just as keen as before. Looking up from her screen she found the already roasted brought to life with a spark. She just watched it for a moment; she was barely able to process the change in demeanor from Ripley. The only thing in her mind was that he just brought a dead body back to life. Well, mainly that. Other thoughts that followed were mostly unconscious thoughts about her own dying body. Yelena was pretty much dead when Tamara took over and by now, even with the help of the regenerative spell Tucker gave her, she probably needed a new body within two months unless....

Tamara looked up at Ripley, curiosity in her eyes. "You can bring the dead back to life?" was the only message written on the screen. Her eyes immediately fell back on the living corpse-- er, food.

"I'd had really been planning to go out but... unfortunately, I don't have a very strong body as I wanted."

It took Ripley a long time to process that request because he was starting to get a little bit woozy. Bringing a chicken back from the dead might not have been such a big deal, had the chicken been covered in feathers and still had most of its organs.

As it was, Ripley had brought back something that had been plucked, processed, and cooked.

"Ah, I would be happy to escort you around the town sometime," he said, but his voice now had a faint, far-away quality. "There are plenty of things we could do with breaks in between, nice shady areas to sit and watch the uh..ahh..stuff. That happens. in the city."

THe chicken, meanwhile, had gotten up from the plate. It didn't have legs, or a head, so it was walking in a rather unusual manner. It wasn't quite floating, but it didn't seem to realize that it didn't have feet, or a head. It was just doing what it did. only it was dead. So...there was that.

Ripley was quite embarrassed, but there was only one way to reverse his powers and that was, well, to kill the thing he'd brought back to life again.

"You can bring the dead back to life?"

"Ah, yes, I'm um...I'm a necromancer," he said, frowning. He put the back of his palm to his head and then sighed. "And I am, ah, afraid I might...i might have to go now, because--"

He hiccuped, god dammit why was he still hiccuping.

"My powers have ah...the unintentional consequence of killing me. But only for a few days. I always come back."

There was an unspoken I hope at the end of that.

"Um...woudl you..maybe be so kind as to..." he put his hand to his heart, which had started to hurt. "Um. Maybe kill my chicken for me?"

In response, the chicken got off the table and started to run.

Ripley's response would have made Tamara frown but again, the preservation spell made her unable to make minute movements. Nonetheless she was indeed, very worried all of a sudden. Tamara stood up from her seat to make it a point that she knew something was wrong but she didn't step out of her seat yet until she'd

Something was off and she knew it. Well, she didn't even have to see or hear it. She could still sense it even without her full power: there was a very, very dangerous side-effect to what just happened.

"Ah, yes, I'm um...I'm a necromancer. And I am, ah, afraid I might...i might have to go now, because-- My powers have ah...the unintentional consequence of killing me. But only for a few days. I always come back. Um...would you..maybe be so kind as to...Um. Maybe kill my chicken for me?"

For a second, Tamara just stood there motionless until her hand moved to pick up the knifes that came with the platter. With one swift movement, she threw the knives at the undead chicken with precision before it got too far — something she'd picked up from Tucker — though one knife missed, one hit the target directly.

The chicken looked like it stopped moving but Tamara couldn't be too sure. She'll get back to that when it tries to move, but first things first, she needed to ask Ripley something. She made it quick, "Can we reverse it?"

The thing about having an artificially preserved form and and being mute was that Tamara could never convey emotions properly but if she could, the worry would have been pretty obvious from that question. There was no way in hell she was going to let people die in front of her if she could help it.

Ripley watched Tamara impale his chicken in slow motion. Everything around him seemed to be slowing down, but maybe that was just his body.

He blinked at her, because she was standing, and suddenly Ripley couldn't remember if he was standing.

"Oh bother," was all he managed to say. He was looking for his wallet, both to pay and because it had his medical information in there on a neat little card saying Please deliver to the Manta Carlos Islands Museum. Do not bury. Do not compress. Do not incinerate. .

He set the money on the table and pinned the card to his chest and now he was certain he was standing, because Tamara was holding something out to him. The phone. Tablet. Thing. That's right, she didn't speak, Ripley needed to focus long enough to read it.

He hiccuped.

God dammit.

"Can we reverse it?"

"Ah...Um....I'm afraid...no." Ripley said, frowning, or maybe he was already frowning. "It's a bit hard to stop once it starts. And by hard, I suppose I mean impossible. I have tried. It doesn't happen as immediately as I used to, it's just...it's quite irritating."

He hesitated, then held his hand out to her. 'I hope you will forgive me. it was a pleasure meeting you, and I was...I am happy to have gotten a chance to enjoy this afternoon with you. I'm just so sorry that I had to ah, mess it up with that, ah, display."

He looked at the dead chicken on the floor and sighed.

He should have just eaten the damn thing.

"Thank you for killing that as well, you have impeccable aim."

Hearing his answer, Tamara's shoulders dropped. With just that, she laid her tablet back down the table. Right, then. That meant, she was going to have to watch someone die right in front of her and she couldn't do anything.

Part of her was upset with herself. Recovering a life like this would have been easy if she could cast any of her magic spells, but she had nothing like that right now. Her stronger spells wouldn't answer to her anymore.

When Ripley reached his hand out to her, all she could do was hold them on her own. She didn't feel like picking up her little gadget and stress out on what to type. Tamara simply closed her eyes and brought his hands to her cheek.

"I hope you will forgive me. it was a pleasure meeting you, and I was...I am happy to have gotten a chance to enjoy this afternoon with you. I'm just so sorry that I had to ah, mess it up with that, ah, display."

Tamara shook her head. No, it wasn't his fault. He didn't need t apologize. She wanted to say it but that meant having to write it all down. There were so many problems that came with being mute and situations like these made her more helpless than she already was. She couldn't even look at him because of how bad she felt.

Tamara heard him sigh. "Thank you for killing that as well, you have impeccable aim."

She looked up at him and all she could manage was a very small smile (so small that it conveyed more of how upset she was about the situation) as she made the hand sign for "thank you" with her free hand.
