Return to the forbidden forest

It had been about a month since the night in the woods where he had kissed Anah. Since then the woods had been pretty mundane if he was just going there to hunt. Now he stood at the entrance to the forbidden forest, remembering how he had met Trini and what had happened after that. He had vowed to form a pack and destroy the laboratory that was in there, but he was so caught up trying to manage a million other things of fairly equal importance that he hadn't been able to do that. Not to mention that most of the shape shifters on the island weren't exactly suited to fighting the minions of the Wyrm and those that might have been weren't known to him.

With eyes closed he walked inside, wondering how long it would take this time before he got into some kind of trouble. The forbidden forest wasn't exactly forbidden because there were girl scouts hiding in the trees after all, and any danger that might be out there was probably enhanced with some sort of mechanical device set that made it ten times as dangerous. As it stood today he would settle if he could destroy that mechanical jaguar that had taken out his leg and gone after Trini. Furthermore, the fact that it had gotten away with a sample of his blood meant that there could be other, more pressing matters to be concerned about at the moment. Anger settled in and revitalized his rage, and he already felt closer to the spirit world, though he could feel the barrier between this world and the spirit world had gotten slightly stronger since the last time he was here.
"Guess I'd better get moving." He said to himself.

As he walked in just a little deeper he could feel that the entire forest realized it was in danger. This meant anything non native to the forest was going to find itself in some serious trouble if it drew any attention from the native creatures and the long sleeved, graphene threaded, black shirt he wore wasn't exactly conducive to the natural layout of the forest. He wore black cargo pants loaded with smoke grenades, flash bang grenades, and shock charges that also weren't going to help with that. Finally his trademark trench coat wasn't exactly forest attire either and he came to the conclusion that he was probably going to want help dressing himself for forest excursions from now on.

Despite all the imminent danger he was in, he still though back to Anah, and wondered if it was possible that she might have found herself in this forest just as she had done with the regular one in which they had met.
"Surely she knows this one is truly dangerous." He thought to himself as he continued walking.

“Miss Anah I don’t believe this to be wise, miss are you listening” Aiman squeaked nervously as she flitted around Anah’s head as her mistress walked determinedly toward the forbidden forest stopping before the opening and surveying it. “You worry too much Ai it’s going to be fine!” Anah replied entering the forest while Aiman made a distressed whine and burrowed into the small backpack she had brought after her last experience she made it a point to dress more appropriately for traipsing through the forest especially a forbidden one. Honestly they were just asking people to go here by calling it ‘forbidden’ well people who were impulsively curious like she was the fact that she didn’t have to sneak away from overbearing bodyguards anymore only made it that much better even though Aiman was a worry wart sometimes. “Wow it’s even prettier than the other one” she remarked taking in her new surroundings “I bet there are all sorts of cool things here hey Ai do you think if I find a weird herb here I’ll get extra credit?” the thought made her smile but that quickly faded as she heard the sound of crunching footsteps behind her while Aiman had popped her head out the bag and began hissing.

Zachary continued his trek into the forest, eventually coming up on... Anah? Really?! This was definitely not someplace he wanted her to be hanging out with him because it was definitely not a popular hang out spot.
"You.. definitely are in the wrong area this time. I hope you've got some powerful ability or another." He said as he came up to her, stepping out from the shadow of the trees under the light of the half moon. It was dangerous here and he was not about to let her get hurt.
"So what brings you to the forest tonight? Were you hoping for another kiss?" He teased.

“You! Didn’t anyone tell it’s incredibly rude to steal a girl’s first kiss then vanish” Anah pointed an accusing finger at Zachary while her shiki continued to hiss threateningly. “Luckily for you Mister I’m a forgiving person and won’t sick my fierce cat friend on you for your debauchery” she reached an arm behind her and petted Aiman on the head “It’s ok Ai he’s my friend” the shiki calmed at the affirmation but still kept a wary stance of the stranger she sensed something about him that she didn’t like and she’d be damned if she let her mistress be duped.

He considered roaring at the little hissing creature but figured that would be a little too revealing.
"Of course I didn't tell anyone. Although if your only complaint is that I walked away afterwards, I'm wondering if you might have enjoyed it." He teased, as he looked around, making sure they weren't being watched. He then stepped closer.
"And since you're in the business of forgiving, I don't suppose you're out here looking for me are you?" He said with a chuckle.

It wasn't shortly after the last round of teasing that the hair on the back of his neck stood up. They were being watched, he just couldn't detect from where. There were no rustling bushes, no tree branch movements, no anything. What exactly was going on? He started to think that invisibility was a possibility, but dismissed it as something he just wouldn't be able to do anything about just yet. There had to be something to it. Distance? Wind direction? Though he didn't let Annah in on any of his suspicions.

“That confident are you?” Anah resisted the urge to roll her eyes although she knew next to nothing about him Anah could tell that Zachary was used to girls falling over him or at least aware of it, he didn’t strike her as the kind of guy that would be oblivious to that kind of thing. Deep in thought she almost forgot he was there until he spoke again “I thought we affirmed that I enjoy taking wooded strolls, you just happened to be in the same area” she was about to say something else when she sensed another presence and judging from the tense and alert posture Zachary had too. A shadow flitted between the trees something normal human eyes wouldn’t be able to see a foul stench reached Anah’s nose a growl rose in her throat and her eyes changed to red her instincts way of telling her something was nearby and it wasn’t friendly.

He laughed, shrugging off the potential enemy for the moment.
"Yeah we did affirm that you like walks. This one isn't like the other forest, it's dangerous. I hope you can fight well." He warned.

Then he saw her eyes glow and he heard her growl. It wasn't the growl he would usually have made, this was... different. She wasn't a werewolf, he was pretty sure about that, but he couldn't put a finger on what she actually was. It didn't matter, she had found something which meant it wasn't just his paranoia.
"And it would seem you're going to be put to the test." He said, taking a low crouch. He was hoping she would be able to handle it but as it stood he knew nothing about her.

A shadow then lurked out from the tree cover it looked reptilian with a snake body , thin arms with razor sharp claws “ Smells good smells good chewy flesh crunchy bone” it hissed eyeing the two like they were the most delicious items on the menu. Aiman howled and transformed now resembling a large saber tooth tiger launched at the creature sinking her fangs deep into its neck the creature roared and shook its head wildly trying to dislodge the shiki.

Zachary stopped short. He would have just fired off a bolt, but in this case maybe it would be better to simply rely on the houzuki horn. Then again he wanted to see what Anah could do. He held his arm out as a long thick blade of bone erupted from his arm.

He was a blur, striking low and cutting through the snake creature's lower stomach as he rolled forward, then kicked off the ground, burning rage to speed himself up. (rage at 9/10)
As his momentum carried him, he slashed underneath the creature's left arm into the area where the axillary vein would have been on a human and he ended his assault next to Anah.
"I see you've gotten a new friend." He said as he leaned forward in case the creature came after Anah.

“ I see you’ve gotten a few tricks up your sleeve” Anah replied as Zachary landed next to her the creature bellowing in pain “ I’ll crush you grind your bones” it hissed black blood oozing from its wounds and a little trickling from its mouth. “Don’t know about you but I’m not too crazy on dying at this moment” she directed the statement at Zachary but she was also repeating it to herself mentally, the creature than gave another roar swinging its good arm towards them its talons extended for maximum damage. In that instant Anah forgot fear, her surroundings and who she was with all she could feel was the instinctual urge to fight and kill the threat. Another growl ripped from her throat louder this time her features shifting from human like to more canine , fur sprouted along her arms ears now sat on top of her head , the newly formed snout opened with a snarl revealing pointed fangs as she launched at the creature.
