-Systems check complete-

Tech read the readout given to him by his mask out loud, out of the habit of usually working with other Techmasters, and gave a nod of satisfaction upon reading the sytem check. "Systems check is complete. Its report - satisfactory."

Techmaster unplugged his cable from the orb-shaped object and, letting it go, allowed it to automatically retract back into the upper part of his right mechanized shoulder. (You could not see this really though, due to the robe that he wore.)

The small round object that he had been working on for 3 days now, was about the size of a tether ball, and was lying upon a old rug which was spread out in the center of the room. All around on top of the rug, were bits of wiring, screws, bits of metal, and what looked like wrecked/dismembered computer parts.

Tech got up and walked quickly over to the computer that was placed up against the wall (directly in the center of his room). which had a large homemade wire connecting the PC to the small orb like object on the rug, and began to very quickly type out the necessary comand codes.

He read them out as he typed them onto the computer at a very fast pace, to the point that it was very difficult to even understand what he was saying...not that it would have made much difference, as most people probably would not have understood it even if their ears could keep up.

"Activating, Assistance Drone...Now." He said, pressing one last button. A few beebing sounds could be heard from the metal spere as it turned on. The orb then began to move slowly off the ground. It floated for a few seconds, but the suddenly sparked and fell back to the ground. The computer he was using, also crashed and deactivated.

Tech stepped backwards, and began to speak harshly in some strange, fast speech that sounded alien. After doing this for a few seconds, he then regained his composure and went back to the computer and turned it on again. It did not respond...typical. "Personal Computer Unit has once again overloaded...initiating scanning process..."

Tech held out the palm of his hand towards the fried PC and a green light suddenly shined from the glass orb in the center of his palm. The light made a scanning motion three times over the PC and then stopped. Tech withdrew his right hand and began to read the read out of data being shown to him in his mask. He felt displeased...again. "Scanning process complete. Reason for failure - unable to succesfully interphase two different technologies..."

Tech let out a defeated sigh, as he went over and laid himself down on his bed. After calculating the vaiables and the situation in his head, he came to the same conclusion that he had come to as before.

"Insufficient equipment available..." He said out loud, laying on his back and just staring at the ceiling.

Of all the planets that he had to come to, why could it not have been a more technologically advanced one? There was nothing here that was worthy of a Techmaster's skills...he could not function to maximum capacity...

————————————————————————————————————————

DESCRIPTION NOTES: Tech's voice, while he is wearing the mask, sound robotic/synthesized, and tends to fluxuate at different pitches while he is talking. (It never changes very dramatically, but it is noticable.) Also, you can hear his breathing too...sorta like Darth Vader (though not that prominent.) Also, his mask's eye holes are circular and give off a blue glow. (Whether this is just a feature of the mask or is something his eyes do, is something I have not made up my mind about yet.) :blahblah:

Ooh, the boys’ dorms. This was an adventure she would enjoy.

Cassiel had snuck in, using every ounce of stealth and skill she had to be quiet so that no one would hear or see her. Boys were far more interesting than girls, anyway, and she would rather be here than anywhere else. At least here she could see if all the boys were nerdy. All the ones she had met so far had been absolute geeks and that was not something she could put up with. Where were the muscle men? The emos, the loners, the broken hearted and mysterious? The hott guys?

She sighed, just thinking about how badly she wanted to flirt with someone. No one here was worth her, though. It was a shame and she wasn’t going to be able to take it much longer!

She swayed as she walked, her hips moving from side to side with ease. Her high heels clinked against the tiled floors and she hummed, her vibrato and high pitches making her louder than she actually was. The sound echoed off the walls and she grinned.

“Holy Hell I’m good,” she said aloud, giggling. She reached a hand up to the back of her neck and fluffed up the ringlets of brown hair. They were somewhat wet, as she had only half-dried her hair after taking a shower about an hour ago. She then reached down and straightened out her navy blue blouse and left the skinny jeans alone.

Damn. Were all the boys?

There was no one in the hallways. Surely someone had to be skipping a class or didn’t have a class to begin with! Cassiel began to pout. She wanted a little attention, was that so wrong? She had put on her special gray eye shadow and her maroon lipstick for nothing? She hoped not!

But then she heard something… odd, for lack of a better term. Cassiel lifted her eyebrows and furrowed them, clinking over to a nearby door. She pressed her ear and her palms against it, listening to the metallic sounds coming from inside. That… that didn’t sound human!

Curiosity got the better of her. Cassiel grabbed at the door handle and gentle eased the door open, peeking her head in time and looking upon the figure inside with a perplexed look.

“What the Hell is going on in here?” she demanded, opening the door a little further. Her fingers curled around the edge of the door, revealing the French manicure on her nails and the cute black flower designs that coated her nails beneath the white strip. “I heard something weird… I don’t even know how to describe it!”

“What the Hell is going on in here?” Tech turned to see a girl barging into his room. Evalution of her figure and appearance indicated that she was most attractive looking. "I heard something weird… I don’t even know how to describe it!”

Tech got off of his bed and stood there looking at her for a few seconds, not moving a muscle. He was evaluating her question and comment. He also was evaluating her appearing there in the Boy's Dorm Rooms sector of the school, and why she had come to his dorm.

"I was attempting to build a Assistance Drone, but my attempt has failed. My failed attempts is what you heard." He answered her all at once. He then paused once again for a few seconds as he considered what questions to ask her.

"What are you doing here, in the Boy Rooms sector of the school?" He asked, not giving any particular hint in his voice that he was really interested in whatever she would answer, but sounded monotone.

Cassiel watched him from the doorway, tempted to slink back and away when he stood up. His figure was somewhat imposing, which made her shift her weight somewhat in the threshold. She stopped herself, though; he was only a boy, and all boys were the same. He wouldn’t hurt her, not if she chose her words right.

She blinked rapidly and her jaw dropped somewhat. “Assissa-whatta?” She opened the door more, deciding that was an invitation for her to make herself at home. Cassiel stepped inside his room and closed the door behind her, folding her arms over her chest and looking around the place as she leaned back against the door. “In English, please. I’m smart but I’m not that smart.”

Oh please, not another nerd. Not another one!

When asked what she was doing here, Cassiel giggled and smiled a little. “I just wanted to make some friends, that’s all,” she said innocently, batting her eyelashes. “And I don’t get along with a lot of the girls. They’re all jealous of me. Guys though? Guys get me.” She grinned and laughed again. “I’m Cass.”

This girl's comments were strange to Tech and they did not compute with him. He was evaluated the situation, trying to decide what should be done first. He wanted to ask her explain the meaning of her words, but also needed to introduce himself. "Evaluating...Evaluation complete! Conclusion reached: I must prioritize, introduction first and then questions."

Tech stood at attention, as though he were in the military, and started off. "ID: Techmaster #L901-T2, it is an honor to meet you." Upon introducing himself in proper fashion, he could now ask her to explain her comments.

"Does not compute...Miss Cass, please explain what you meant by girls are jealous of you? Do you mean that you fuction better than them at your given assignments?" Techmasters wore masks almost all the time, partly for duty and partly because it was a tradition among his people. (Techmaster Society would have large clans, each with their own distict sort of mask.)

So, jealousy over one's appearance was an unusuall concept for him. One that did not 'compute'. He could, however, concieve the conept of enving others because they functioned better than you at their tasks.

Thinking upon this idea brought back memories of a certain Techmaster #M780-003, who always was trying to out do him in their duties. Just the memory made him feel slightly steamed...that erroneous, programing buffoon. He constructed a defense gun faster than he did ONE TIME and he never let it go. NEVER.

"I imagine she is talking about her own good looks and charm to pull in the attention of the opposite gender, ladies want to be her, guys want to get her." an amused voice said and the door opened again, Mikael had just left his room to walk down the hall and had overheard there talking, the boy was today dressed in a pair of black jeans, he did not wear any shirt and it looked like he had just taken a shower since his hair was slightly wet. "Most boys would go crazy around Cass, not that I blame them. The name was Cass right?" the tune of his voice was calm, but it looked like he found it rather amusing that a girl was here in the dorm of the boys. Yea she sure was hot.

He calmly examined her for a moment with his red eyes and then he looked past her to the weird guy inside of the room. Okey this guy was weird like very weird, he looked more weird then anyone he had ever seen but for some reason it made him think of some terminator movie. "You should think of a better nickname then to use that all the time, I suggest Tech. Quicker to say and has a rather nice ring to it. Better take it yourself before people start calling you that anyway." not that he really cared about what he wanted to be called and he did not even know why he even talked to them at all. Maybe he was just bored, yea that was it. Nothing had happened for such a long time and he felt rather down to have to share his room with that Jass boy and his headaches and such.

He then turned his eyes to Cass again and he tilted his head to the side. "Hate to ruin things but your not the first girl to have sneaked into this place to take a look at the stalions of the school." he laughed as he said this and calmly shook his head then he took her hand and gave it a slight kiss. "Mikael Moonro. A pleasure to meet you miss...but better be careful or you will get into serious trouble if people notice you are here." Mikael might be a loner but he was polite to the ladies.

His voice sounded like a machine. Cassiel’s gaze became wary – he might have been a boy, but coming in here might have been a horrible idea. She merely looked at him, unsure what he needed to evaluate, and completely uncertain about what didn’t ‘compute’. And what the hell kind of a name was that, anyway?

“Jesus… you could relax a little,” she said. “What are you doing, acting? No normal person acts like this, what the hell is your problem? Seriously, it’s kind of hurtful that you think I’m that gullible. People are given names, not numbers.” Cassiel rolled her eyes. She should have expected something like this. Guys either embraced her or they made fun of her.

Ugh, whatever. She’d find a way to get back at him.

An eyebrow cocked. Assignments? “You could say that,” she said, a smirk tugging at her lips, but she didn’t allow it to show. “I mean, that and I’m just plain hotter than they all are.” Well, there it was, bluntly stated.

And her statement was backed up not too much later. Cassiel turned to see someone standing in the doorway. Her eyes widened. Holy crap. He was shirtless and he seemed so… dark! She’d found it! There were actually amazing, wonderful boys here! Thank you, God!

“Yeah, it’s Cass. Short for Cassiel.” Cassiel lifted a hand to her hair and fluffed it up a little, moving away a little and leaning against a nearby wall so she could keep an eye on both of them. She looked between them, smirking. Sure, one was weird, but it so made up for what had just walked in here. “You’d be?”

She snorted though, her snort making way for soft laughter. “I think he should tell us his real name,” she added.

Oh, look, he’d told her his name. Mikael. It was a popular name, but still it was a classic. Better than Tech-12345678 at least. And he'd kissed her hand, too! What a gentleman! “Ah, hell, I didn’t come here to be the first. And I don’t care if I get in trouble. No one would dare get me in trouble. I’d sic the Italian mob on whoever got me in trouble.”

"Tech?...a shortening of my full designated identification, interesting. It is, I believe, what your people call a 'nickname'?" He bent his head in thought. Apparently, these beings lacked the mental capacity to state his full name, such a pity. How he felt sorry for these inferior breeds of humanity. They had quiet a long way to go before they would become as advanced as his own people. (He certainly would not live to see that age...)

"If you lack the capacity to be able to state my full designated identifaction, then you may have the authority to call me 'Tech'." He said, nodding his head to grant them confirmation.

The boy however, did not take immediate notice of his comment as he was absorbed by the attractive construction of Miss Cass. Apparrently they were infatuated with one another. "Interesting, they move much quicker in relationships on this planet. That explains their rapidly growing population..."

He stood there and watched them both, evaluating their comments and their actions. They seemed to be going through the process of 'flirting' (as the people of this planet called it) with each other. The process itself asside, he saw little to make him that interested in their conversation. He was not currently accepting on the idea of finding a 'life mate'. He planned not to be with a women until he was far older.

His attention was then suddenly brought back to them, when Miss Cass then demanded that he give his 'real name'. What could she be meaning? He had already given her his designated identification. Unless, she meant his...how could she know about that though? "If you are asking my true name, then I am afraid that I cannot tell you. According to my people's customs, I may only let my clan members know my true name."

Mikael raised an eyebrow at her words about never getting into trouble. "oh is that so? Well then I guess I will have to try and behave." he said with a calm voice, hey he was stilla guy and liked girls. He might be 100 years old but he was still like any boy around 18 when he wanted to be. "But then again it might be worth it, who knows."

Mikael then looked towards Tech...yea this guy was very odd. "I do not think that I lack capability to say your full name, call it a part of culture if you will." he said and the tune of his voiuce sounded rather bored. He then frowned at what he said about the name thing and his clan, but he did not say anything about that little fact, he was not really interested in finding out about this mans name at all, he was not even sure if he wanted to know more about Cass, but she was hot and it could not hurt that much could it? Well it had been a while since he flirted with anyone...more like 20 years to be exact and it was getting rather boring. But he could not make a more direct assult right now since they where not alone, but he could be patient.

Cassiel couldn’t believe he even had to ask that. No freakin’ duh it was a nickname! What the hell was wrong with this guy for thinking otherwise? Cassiel chewed on the inside of her lip lightly, not wanting to make herself bleed but needing a way to take out her frustration. “Were you dropped on your head as a child?” she asked finally. Hey, it made sense!

She gave Mikael a rather sharp look and cleared her throat. “I hope you’d behave regardless,” she said, her voice somewhat bitter. Just because she was a flirt didn’t mean she was easy – her flirting rarely meant anything. Was it really so much of a sin to appreciate a nice face or a nice body? “And I’m worth everything. It’s just that not everyone else is worthy of me.” She hummed a giggle and turned her attention back to Tech-12345678.

The young woman sighed softly. “Clan members? What are you now, a wild animal or something? People don’t have clans. They have families.” She shook her head. Why did she always get stuck with the freaks? “And that’s not fair! We told you our names, you could at least do the same for us. Meanie…” Cass pouted and looked down, kicking at the floor and grunting.
