William almost smiled, but couldn't quite bring himself to do it as he watched the boy attempt to rebuild his barriers. It was in Will's nature to feel bad for him, even though he had yet to reveal his actual intentions. For all Will knew, he actually had a genuine reason for being hated, and the boy just didn't want to reveal it yet.

So, he did as he was told and walked over to the other side of the bench. He leaned his back its back and finally uncrossed his arms, feeling that he had composed himself. Although he didn't want to be told off again, it was a small risk he wanted to take.

"Believe it or not, my goal isn't to... piss you off." He said the word with some difficulty. "So, I did what you asked and got out of your sight. I can also try being less happy, but that will be kind of hard. And if your definition of a 'person' is normal human being, then I'll be glad to inform you that I'm not one."

He turned in the direction of the boy. "Am I still pissing you off?"

Riley, for a moment, smirked in an almost cocky manner as the stranger left his sights as told. This was short lived as he heard him still speaking to him, once again leaving him.. bewildered, more than anything.

He just didn't get it. Why? Why was this person being this way? Why was he expressing this form of kindness to him, after he'd insulted him? At the very least he'd expected him to run away crying in a worst case scenario, but instead he just kept persisting. It made his heart hurt. It was strange, in a way- this kindness was hurting him more than insults ever could. He pressed his lips into a thin line, unsure of what to say once more.

After a pregnant pause, Riley's balled his hands into fists as he clutched the fabric of his pants. "... Stop," He murmured, trying to sound firm despite his voice trembling a bit, "I don't know why you're doing this and won't just leave, but fucking stop. It's not going to work. This little.. fucking game you're playing with me. Trying to.. befriend me, I'm presuming. It needs to end because you aren't going to get anywhere."

He honestly didn't know what else to do, at this point. It really seemed this guy had seen completely through him- and his defenses wouldn't hold up much longer, at this rate. "... Just leave. Please."

William did not expect the reaction he got. This person, who had been insulting him relentlessly not too long ago, was now kindly asking him to leave. Well, almost kindly. And his voice was trembling. He knew that there was something more to this boy, but he wasn't going to persist anymore. It seemed he had caused enough pain unintentionally, and although he wanted to rectify it, he knew the best way to do that was by leaving.

So, with a barely audible sigh of defeat, he prepared to leave.

"Okay," he said softly. "I'm sorry for pressing. I'll get out of your hair now."

As Will turned on his heel, a single question plugged itself into his mind. It was one he would usually ask if the person didn't tell them already. Although he knew that he most likely wouldn't get a direct answer, he wanted to try anyway.

"Hey, if you don't mind me asking... what's your name?"

A tension left Riley as the other prepared to leave. It didn't feel good, by any means- god, he hated being alone, really. But it was.. space. Distance. Distance that would keep this guy from getting his hopes up for something good of them talking, and that was enough for him. "Thank you," he whispered quietly as he began to relax, shifting slightly on the bench.

Of course, then this.. student asked for his name. He stared at him for the longest after he'd asked this, as if debating if he should really say. Eventually, he gave a long, drawn-out sigh. "Riley. My name is Riley. Don't bother telling me your name, it doesn't matter." And in the end, it really didn't. It'd be as if this whole conversation never even happened, by tomorrow. Regardless, he couldn't go without a zing, so he kindly added, "I don't care, either."

It didn't seem he'd put him off enough. He had a feeling he'd be back, and that would make it hard to hide such things while successfully pushing him away. But for now, he'd take the small victory.
