William noted the abnormal amount of people in the hallways. There was always a considerable amount of students moving through the halls at the end of the school day, but this many was different. Although it didn't necessarily make him in uncomfortable, he had felt a strange pressure building up inside him. It was similar to the pressure that would build up in his back when he didn't summon his wings for a while.

Eventually, Will found his way out of the sea of people. At this point, the entrance felt like a gateway to another world. Once in the courtyard, the cold air assaulted his body and caused goosebumps on his skin. As much as he wanted this feeling to be pleasant, he knew too well that it conflicted greatly with his body. So, with a sigh, he warmed up his body. It wasn't even that the air was necessarily cold. His body was just much warmer at that time.

He hadn't even noticed that there was an equal amount of people in the courtyard. Fortunately, they weren't as tightly packed as in the academy. At least there was one positive that came out of this situation. William weaved his way around the people, fortunately finding it much easier than before. After a few seconds of walking, he came across a bench and plopped down onto it without hesitation.

It was only after he started to relax that he noticed the person sitting next to him.

"Oh!" he said. "Hello there. I didn't see you at first."

On such jam-packed school days, Riley had a habit of going straight to the benches in the courtyard- he didn't even go to his last class today, instead intending to skip and just.. relax. He liked the way the breeze blew across his face and through his hair. It was calming, especially when he already had built up emotions from the stresses of attending a school full of strangers.

However, today was different, as while he enjoyed his time on the bench, someone actually sat right beside him. He took a moment to slowly pull himself out of his relaxed daze to stare at this individual, who seemed almost oblivious to his presence. It was annoying in a strange way, for him to just take up such close residence uninvited. Especially when he was someone who didn't "do" the friends thing.

It was when this person actually noticed and greeted him that he got a good look at his face- and instantly, something burned in him. He recognized him from in the halls before, and even if he couldn't necessarily remember beyond that, this guy's demeanor bugged him. He hated how.. friendly he acted. In some ways, it hurt to see him be so happy and nice, because he knew he'd never have that. He'd have to keep being Mr. Mean guy.

With such thoughts in his head, he sneered at the boy beside him, muttering, "Hey, you oblivious, inconsiderate fuck. What're you doing sitting next to me, huh?" He scoffed, looking away. "Watch where you're sitting, next time, Shit-stain." It was a bit harsher than he'd intended- mainly due to the emotions brewing within him- But he tried to keep it as close to his snarky self as possible.

William waited patiently for the boy to respond. It took a while for him to even look at Will. However, once he did, the look in his light blue eyes changed. Will's own eyes widened, and a chill traveled up and down his spine, but he kept his composure.

He couldn't keep it for long. Although he didn't know a few of the words that were spoken to him, they were said with such harsh manner that he nearly physically reeled. He immediately wrapped a hand around the arm of the bench and tightened his grip.

He tried to think back to when he had heard those words, and the memory didn't make him feel any better. Years ago, in the middle of one of his English classes, one of Will's friends had been trying to defend him from someone who had been particularly mean to him. He appreciated his friend's concern, but even though the words weren't directed at him, he had felt an unfamiliar sensation rise up within him.

At this very point in time, the sensation was coming up again. "I was, uh...." He struggled to find the right words. "I just... saw this seat and didn't really think anyone else would be here. I really should have, um, payed more attention."

Seeing his boy react to his words stung. It burned his chest in a way he usually felt when he was about to cry- but that only drove his words to be harsher, instead of allowing him to relent. It was hard to think past how much everything just hurt at this moment, and how much he hated that this person, until this moment, didn't hurt. Or didn't seem to, at least.

"Well, you fucked up, asswipe." He muttered, glaring at the person beside him. "Go get your ugly, overly happy ass away from me and go make buddy buddy with those other people you were fucking with earlier?" His words were venomous, bitter. If one really analyzed them, they could perhaps pick up on the envy behind them, but it didn't make them any kinder.

"Actually," He continued, staring him down, "I watched you, you know. You seem awfully.. nice? Do you even know how to hate someone? Because if not, I can teach you. Starting with me."

William knew that he shouldn't have taken the words to heart. After all, they were just words. They weren't supposed to hurt him. But as much as he reinforced this thought process, this boy's words seemed to actually cause physical pain to him. His arm tensed up, and, much to his own surprise, he ended up completely crushing the arm of the bench.

A loud gasp escaped Will's mouth. He quickly stood up and crossed his arms, thinking that they might lash out on their own. This kind of behavior had never been normal for Will, and it terrified him that he could do such a thing subconsciously.

He thought back to the boy's last question and came up with an answer immediately. "No. I don't know how to hate," he said, sternly. "And I don't think I'd like to learn how. See, if I hated someone, I might end up doing stupid things like..." He gestured to the damage he had done. "...that."

Riley had expected this person to take his words badly- but he hadn't expected the bench to become a victim. He jumped as he heard the noise of it being crushed, looking to him with wide eyes. Once he'd stood up, he looked to the damaged arm. He analyzed it a moment, murmuring, "... Enhanced strength, huh? Interesting."

It didn't seem like he this ability often, based on how much it surprised him. This line of thinking followed by the boy's words caused his nose to wrinkle, and his eyes to narrow as he muttered, "You should learn. It's important to hate, especially if it's someone who deserves, well.. what you just fucking did to this bench."

In some ways, he wanted to piss this guy off into using such strength on him, but he couldn't bring himself to. Perhaps he didn't want him to live with the guilt of killing a man. Or perhaps he didn't hate life as much as he thought. Either way, he remained in his seat, his gaze cold. "Bet you only got such a strong grip like that from fapping, anyway. Disgusting, pervy fuck."

William kept his arms crossed as the boy continued speaking, but he noticed something strange about him. He had already figured out that the words were what caused his pain, as they seemed go be truly spoken with the intention to cause someone discomfort. However, with the fact that Will had not been put off as soon as he sat next to the boy, it was obvious that he was not inherently evil.

It fascinated Will to no end, and got rid of the conflict of emotions that gripped his heart like a vice. Surely, those words would taste bad in the mouth of one that meant no harm, so why was this boy an exception? It was an anomaly indeed, one that he didn't think was possible.

William wasted no time in asking. "Your mouth says those things as if it is natural, but your body does not emit an evil presence. Do you not mean the words you speak?"

Riley, more than anything was just surprised this person hadn't left yet, through all his banter- most weren't this stubborn. Perhaps the guy was just that nice, though- which made it slightly more infuriating, as it meant he had a lot of work ahead of him to make this guy give up. He could do it, though. He hoped.

However, then the strange man spoke- and it caught the him off guard. Asking if he really meant his words.. what would lead him to believe that? Had he not been direct enough? His body tensed a moment at this thought, even though his eyes never left the other. He'd need to act fast to try and save himself, here. Make this guy believe he was a horrible person.

Fortunately, he was a quick thinker.

"Please," He drawled out as a condescending smirk came to his features, "I mean every last bit of it. You're just that much of a piece of shit to me. I hate you. In fact, Your very presence makes me physically sick." His gaze remained rather cold- dark, even. It was a type of hollow stare that showed he was completely detached- whether from his own words or the situation in general, it was hard to tell.

The boy was quick to retaliate, which only succeeded in making Will more suspicious. Although those poisonous words wanted to make him get away as fast as possible, the boy was simply making him all the more curious. Luckily, his curiousness greatly bypassed his pain.

And then, a single statement sealed the deal for him: "I hate you." In the few days that he had been at the academy, he tried his hardest to stay on everyone's good. There was no one he held any ill will towards, and he never spoke negatively about anyone.

And thus, Will spoke with such confidence that he surprised even himself.

"You don't hate me," he stated. "I've only been here for a few days, and I know for a fact that I haven't given anyone any reason to hate me. I would've remembered. And if I did give you a reason to hate me, you would have surely spoken up. It's obvious you're very vocal with your opinions, and you wouldn't wait until I approached you to voice them."

Riley froze up immensely as William spoke- he tried to hide it, but failed in this regard- as he stared the boy down like a deer caught in headlights. He had gone too far, in that moment. By going on the extreme end, he'd made himself less believable- and now this person was onto him. "I-.." He tried to speak, but found himself at a loss for words. What could he effectively say to that? He felt backed into a corner.

Forcing himself to relax a little, his gaze focused on something off to the side- anything that wasn't the boy in front of him- as he spoke, albeit in a lower, less venomous tone than before. "You'd be surprised. New or not, you're a person. A happy one. And you piss me off. Everyone here is disgusting and pisses me off, which is why I hate them."

It was bordering on defensive, on this point, as he sat there, feeling he had less and less options. What would it take to make this person just leave? Why hadn't he left yet? "So if you're done questions, get your ugly ass out of my sights," he muttered lowly, keeping his gaze low.
