Ahoy! Looking to get settled in here, and what better way to do that than by making plots?

Madison Mortiere

Quick background: Madison casually (and of course secretly) practiced necromancy since she was a little girl, but never made her way to the island until adulthood. Without a proper education, her abilities remain incredibly rough around the edges. But her fascination with books and the entertainment and knowledge contained within pushed her to develop an even more useful ability--to coax the shards of souls that the authors left in their work out in spirit form. Through this magic, she can question them about the hidden meanings of passages or illustrations (or kink-shame the author of whatever scandalous romance novella she's currently hate-reading). She currently operates a bookstore in Manta Carlos City, in the Underground.

Plots I am looking for:

Customers/Business Partners:
Located on the outskirts of The Underground district, Dog-Eared Books caters to a wide assortment of interests. From horror to historical non-fiction, sci-fi to romance, westerns to mysteries, and everything in between--gently used or one stiff breeze away from falling apart. Madison also deals in spellbooks, alchemy cookbooks, reproduction scrolls, and anything else put to paper that the aspiring mage or adept might need. However, she also caters to a more... exclusive clientele. She has a secret basement area where tomes of a more dangerous nature are kept, waiting to be put in the hands of the right person--and if she doesn't have it, she can probably get it. With this, I'm looking for people who might have an interest in this Black Library of sorts: Whether it's to acquire a book with an unpronounceable title just in time for the Ritual Club meeting that night, or the hastily-scribbled notes of the last psychotic pyromancer who tried to burn down San Francisco three decades ago. Also looking for people who might want to help Madison... acquire such texts. Or, hey, if you just wanna' pop in to see if she finally got the entire Inheritance Cycle, that'd be neat too!

Friends: I'm going to be up-front about this. Madison... is not the best person. She's the kind that will simultaneously push you away and try and cling to your arm. Her sense of humor is as black as the abyss and just as cold, and can come off as extremely grating. Over the course of her life, she's read enough about necromancy and those who abhor it to try not to let anyone too close lest they discover her secrets. But goshdarnit, she's trying. In a new city, no contacts but her professional ones (and can she even call them friends?)... She's going stir-crazy in her apartment at night. So she needs to get out more. Meet new people, form some bonds, settle into life in Manta Carlos City. Have fun! Do stuff! I'm looking for people of a relatively similar age who'd like to befriend poor bookworm. Maybe go out for drinks or shopping or playing cards; y'know, normal people stuff. Romantic relationships aren't off the table, so long as you understand that the furthest someone will get with her is cuddling on the couch in front of the TV or a fireplace with books and mugs of hot cocoa in hand.

Dark Magic Tutors/Fellow Practitioners:
Hey, fellow Necromancers and Soul Magickers! Madison could use some help here. Without having gone to school, most of her magic is self-taught and... well, super rough around the edges. She managed to get her ability to cast hexes on people to work without much of an issue, though. Madison could use some tutors or a group of like-minded individuals to iron out the kinks in her spellcasting.

Any takers on the above, feel free to respond below or PM me!
