The drow couldn't help but smile when Envy mentioned something about his name being high and might and not so much old time-y. Was Charles a fancy name? Thinking about it, it did have a kind of pompous air to it. Even the way the sound tastes in his mouth and on his tongue was bad. The name tasted like mostly sharp edges and uncomfortable corners--he'd just assumed that since he hadn't heard that name anywhere except in old books that it had been phased out of the human naming convention.
Apparently he was wrong.
"Well. It is, kinda. 'S from an old priestess tale about a celestial a' light that came into the drow cities to eradicate all th' evil, 'til a warrior named Mz'sid killed it by stabbing it in the eyes and cutting off its head."
That warrior's house, Rakorch, immediately gained the favor of their god, and changed their insignia to the head of the celestial that Mz'sid had slain. Legend has it that the House--now ancient and powerful beyond measure--still has the head of the vanquished celestial hanging over the entranceway to their compound.
What a load of tripe.
Sid raised an eyebrow. Apparently Envy wasn't his conversational partner's real name. Intrigued, the dark elf straightened up from the wall, arms crossed and very intrigued. "You're only Envy when you look like that? And I guess when your not Envy you go by... Invidia, was it?
"So... what do you look like when you're not Envy then?"
