She was silent as Aedan spoke. Just as his words had flared up such volatile emotions in her a moment ago, now his words were slowly calming her down.

She wanted so badly to know of her past but as this year had progress, she was becoming more and more convinced that she would never be able to learn of who she was. It was a painful thought and not one she wanted to accept. When she had recognized Aedan's song it felt like the moment she had been waiting for. But maybe she was wrong...

Slowly Nia pulled herself out of the ball on the floor, her eyes peering up at Aedan. She still looked upset and her body still shook but she no longer felt that fire of emotion. She didn't really know what to say in response to all that had just transpired but she knew she had to make one thing clear.

"Aedan... Since I've been here I haven't remembered anything. The only thing that I have known is a song. I don't know what it is but whenever I go out and walk in the garden I like to hum it to myself." She paused, choosing her words careful. "I heard the tune of that song in your song. It felt like something out of a dream...like...like deja vu."

He listened as she explained her reaction to his song, it made no sense, his mother had written that song and Aedan was the only person she ever taught it to, "Nia that.....that song was written by my mom...she taught me to play it...no one else knows it." His mind looked for an explanation but found none.

He placed his hands on her shoulders and smiled, "its ok, we'll figure it out." He smiled kindly, her knowing the song made no sense to him, but he knew together they'd figure it out. "I know it's hard, not remembering, having glimmers of familiarity in something."

He hugged her, "I know your confused, I know you feel lost, but you are not alone and I don't have all the answers but I promise, together we will try to find them." He looked at her and smiled, "you'll find yourself, memory does not mean identity. No past doesn't mean you can't have future. So...I'll help you search for your past, but even if we don't find it, I'll still be right here."

It didn't make sense but nothing in Nia's life made any sense so why should she expect the stupid song she knew to be any different?

Her mind was still reeling, searching for some answer, despite knowing how futile it was. Part of her wondered if the song didn't have anything to do with her past but instead was some side effect of her psychic abilities. Maybe her mind had pulled the tune from the future instead of the past but even that made no sense. Nia had never been able to see anything about herself in a vision before so why would she have a memory from the future that affect her?

Of course, all of these were unanswerable questions, at least for the time being. Her mind probably would have pulled her deeper into the unknown had Aedan not pulled the small girl into a hug. His arms around her made her feel safe, the safest she had ever felt in fact. She nuzzled herself into him enjoying the warmth of another human. She hadn't been hugged much and she found herself wondering how she had survived so long without them.

"As long as you are here, I know I will be fine." Somehow she felt sure of that. Even if the world fell apart so long as Aedan was there she would have nothing to fear.

He smiled and continued to hug her, there wasn't really much else he could say, they were here, together facing the craziness that was their lives.

He picked her up, and he sat in one of the seats setting her beside him, keeping an arm around her, "I'm sorry that my song bothered you," just the thought that something he did possibly harming her made him hate himself.

He smiled and placed an ionic flower into her hair to cheer her up, "did you want to look through the store? See if there's anything you want to try." He wanted to have a normal life, and well hobbies were a good way to keep your mind calm and focused.

The smile made her smile and blush, leaning into Aedan. It was strange, feeling comfortable around someone. Usually people scared her. Even with Makara she often felt estranged from him in a lot of ways.

Nia had completely forgotten that part of the reason they had come to the store was to find her a hobby and she gave a quick nod, her expression changing quickly to one less stressed and more hopeful.

"Yes I want to look around." If nothing else it would get her thoughts off this most recent stressful development in her life. Who knew, maybe she would get lucky and find something she was good at too.

He was happy she was willing to try, and he was willing to help "Good to hear," he grabbed his violin and placed it in its case. He rose and smiled at her, "we'll find you some things to try."

He took her hand, "they have lots of things here, plenty of things to try here." He lead her to the door, he was still a bit confused by her reaction to his song, but it could wait.

He opened the door with a smile, and gave her hand a light squeeze to show her everything was ok, "lets take a look." He lead back into the store, ready and willing to help her find something.

Nia followed Aedan out into the store and looked around. The place was a bit overwhelming, full of strange things that she didn't know much of anything about. She like music but somehow she doubted that is was a talent she may possess. However, she was willing to try. Especially if it was something she could do with Aedan..after all it seemed the two shared a connection with music more than expected.

"Let's start with something easy.." She mumbled softly as her eyes darted around the room from instrument to instrument. They all looked fairly threatening.

He looked over the many instruments, many choices, from keyboards to violins like his own, he crouched beside Nia placing a hand on her shoulder, "there's no need to be afraid, I was awful when I first tried my violin," he chuckled.

He went back to looking at the instruments, picking up a harmonica and a recorder, "these are pretty simple," he handed them to her so she could look, "they'll be a good place to start."

It was amazing how Aedan seemed to know just what Nia was feeling. Even though they had only just become friends, she somehow felt like they had known each other before. She knew that couldn't be possible yet something inside of her almost seemed to scream otherwise. She supposed this is what people meant when they talked about becoming fast friends with someone.

He handed her the two instruments and she held one in each hand. She felt she recognized one of them and looked at it closer...

"A harmonica?" She questioned as she examined the rectangular instrument. She wasn't really sure how she knew what it was but the name just came to her. It use to freak her out when things like that happened but now it was just how life was. She would come across some item or bit of information that she had no memory of yet would somehow know the name of it or related information. It was truly perplexing. Her therapist said it was probably just a side effect of the amnesia but couldn't say for certain without a proper examination by a doctor.

He smile and nodded, "it's pretty simple," he grabbed one from the shelves and blew a few notes to show her, "it's a good one to start with."

"I'll give you lessons whenever you want," he played a few more notes and smiled at her, "and if it doesn't work out there's plenty of others to choose from."
