This was a mistake. This had to be a mistake. What was he thinking? This was such a bad idea.
Or at least that was what Eve thought he should've been thinking as he was nervously fidgeting with his paint brushes, not actually concentrating on painting at all. Instead he was..excited, happy, looking forward to it.
Eve had invited Jake over to look at his workshop and maybe do something afterwards, and Eve was confused over why he had offered to show Jake his workshop. Couldn't they have just jumped to the "something afterwards" right away?
Eve sighed slightly and set down his brushes and paints. Being attracted to someone was much more mentally tiring than Eve remembered. Although it still brought him just as much joy.

To an outsider, despite his inner turmoil, Eve could've looked like the embodiment of serenity as he stood upon his easel, looking right through the scenery painting he was supposed to be finishing. It was a painting of a shady forest path on a hot, sunny summer's day right after rain. Eve has captured the glistening trunks of the trees and how the water pooled at the center of the path, and how the sunlight shining through the leaves caught some of the glimmer of the water drops falling from the foliage. In the distance the path opened to a cliff facing the sea, and the retreating rain clouds could be seen over the horizon. Even Eve was proud of this painting. Which was why he put his tools to the side and took off his apron, deciding he didn't want to risk ruining a good piece of art because of his nerves.

Eve checked the time and pulled a black and white scarf from his pocket, tying his hair out of his face with it. Eve's hair had grown a lot lately and he had the habit of pulling it back. If he didn't Eve could've easily been mistaken as a woman if his body wasn't so obviously male.
Eve was wearing nearly all black clothes again today, and a normal person capable of feeling heat and sweating would've been wheezing just looking at Eve. He had a black shirt with wide neckline and sleeves that reached his forearms. Currently Eve had rolled his sleeves up, and his forearms had small paint stains on them. He was wearing dark grey tight sweat pants that stopped right under his burn scars. Eve wasn't wearing any shoes, and the crocs he had worn while coming here were neatly set beside the door. He was feeling normal, but if the temperature was even a little higher even Eve would've felt it slightly.
Eve, tired of standing and fidgeting, head to the door so he could wait Jake outside the door just as he had promised him. But as Eve turned the handle and opened the door towards himself he was greeted by the sight of Jake standing right outside the door. Eve, very surprised and not prepared for this, let out a small yelp and basically jumped couple of steps back, his usually quite expressionless face showcasing shock.
"Jake! Oh my goodness, you scared me."

The weather was starting to heat up and since Jake's body temperature was higher than the average human, he felt it more. He wore a red round neck t-shirt and black shorts that came down to just above his knees. On his face, he wore cheap white sunglasses with orange lenses to protect his eyes from the sun as he made his way from the mansion to the academy. Jake couldn't wait to finally break up for the summer to get out of school but today, he wasn't going to the academy for classes.

Eve had invited him to his workshop before they figure out what to do for the rest of the day. Jake had never seen the space that Eve does his artwork. In fact, he had only really seen the sketches in Eve's book and not many of his paintings. He was given instructions on how to get to the room and was told that his friend would be waiting outside for him. That was probably for the best since he was bound to get lost anyway. At least if Eve stood outside the room, he would know for sure that he was in the right place.

Finally entering the academy (taking off his sunglasses) and following the instructions he was repeating in his head, Jake wandered to the room that he thought was the right one; only, there was no Eve waiting outside. Jake began to doubt himself as he moved closer to the door, hesitating to open it in case there was a class in there and that it was the wrong place. Just then, the door opened as a startled Eve yelped and jumped back. Laughter escaped Jake as the image of Eve's expression stuck in his mind. "Sorry my appearance is so terrifying," he joked.

Eve blushed slightly when Jake laughed, and he wiped the shocked expression he knew he had off his face. But it was replaced by a small smile and Eve chuckled slightly when Jake apologized for having a "terrifying" appearance.
"Yes, I suppose my reaction couldn't be helped. But, I forgive you."
Eve had a teasing tone in his voice and he smiled at Jake, glad to see him. Eve was always glad to see Jake, it always made him feel better.
"Come in. You really look hot. I always have air conditioning on in this room, heat hurts the paints."
Eve stepped out of Jake's way so he could come into the room. Eve made a quick glance around, making sure he hadn't left anything too sensitive in plain sight, such as private portraits or secret projects. And Jake's unfinished portrait was safely covered and hidden midst the other unfinished paintings. Eve let out an internal sigh of relief.

Eve went over to the scenery painting he had been trying to finish and turned to smile slightly at Jake.
"Please look around as you like, but please don't touch the canvases with bare hands. The paint absorbs grease from skin and gets ruined."
As Eve spoke he dug a pair of thin fabric gloves from his pocket, put them on and carefully lifted the unfinished painting off the easel. Eve found a free spot in between a detailed painting of a sparrow and Natasha's portrait on the floor and set the scenery there. Eve, momentarily in his thoughts, took a step back and observed the scenery one more time. Somehow the color scheme in Natasha's portrait gave Eve some new ideas to use for the shading of the bushes. But, that he would do later. Eve turned around to observe Jake, if he had decided to look around the room.
"I call it workshop but in the end it is just an empty classroom. All art students who participate in competitions and showings are assigned one if needed."

Jake tried to act offended but he couldn't help but have a little grin. Eve just made him happy. He wasn't sure why but he just felt comfortable around him. It was the day of the full moon so Jake was already bursting with energy but recently, it just felt like Eve had that effect on him anyway. Full moon days were the best; his senses were sharper, his speed was faster and it felt amazing. Almost like he wanted to bounce off the walls but not in Eve's workshop. It was his space and he was going to respect it.

Walking into the room, he let out a sigh. It really was cooler and much nicer than the heat outside. "Ahh, that is so nice," he said, shaking his t-shirt to cool himself down. Immediately, Jake noticed the landscape on the easel. "Wow, that is so pretty!" he exclaimed as he ran over to take a closer look. It looked so realistic, yet at the same time, there were gentle brushstrokes that made it appear as though it was painting itself before his eyes.

His eyes then wandered to all of the other artwork on the walls and leaning against the desks around the outskirts of the room. He scanned to look if there were any that included him: none. A sigh of relief left his lips as he wandered around the room. "This place is really cool!"

Eve looked and blinked at Jake bit surprised and confused when he basically sprinted from one place to another, and it made Eve smile. Somehow nearly anything Jake did evoked a positive reaction in Eve today, it was strange but he didn't hate it at all. Eve welcomed the good mood after all the stress he had been under recently.
"You're energetic today."
Eve said with a small gentle chuckle and tugged the fabric gloves back in his pocket. He also let his eyes wander around the room, but where others probably saw art Eve mostly saw unfinished perfection that he knew would never be completed. But Eve, unlike some artists, knew it shouldn't be perfect. Nothing was perfect. Things were special and beautiful because you had to find the beauty in them yourself. One thing couldn't beautiful for everyone, the beauty was so often found in the eyes of the beholder. And Eve saw beauty in so many things.

Eve raised his eyes to Jake and sighed silently. Eve could also see beauty in Jake, something special. And it made Eve sad that Jake couldn't see it himself.
It took a while for Eve to realize he was staring at Jake and he shook his head slightly and smiled a bit when Jake called his workshop cool.
"I'm glad the temperature is to your liking. I turned the air conditioning bit colder in case you would like it more this way."
Eve had a small teasing smile, he knew very well Jake wasn't talking about the temperature. Eve walked over to the easel and started taking it down carefully.

He gave Eve a big grin. "Yep, that'll be down to the full moon tonight. I feel like I could burst with energy." It was the best feeling he ever had when it was the day of the full moon. Jake couldn't help that he just wanted to run all over the place. Since his senses were sharper, the artwork just seemed so much more appealing. The colours were more vibrant, the smell of paint was so pungent.

Jake pulled a pretend laughing expression at Eve's remark. "You know that's not what I meant. You're right, though. It is really pleasant in her compared to the heat out there." Summer was great but the weather that came with it: not so much. He sat down crossed legged on the floor. "And it's so much nicer down here!" The cold floor helped his body adjust since he was still warm from the walk over to the academy. In fact, he found it so refreshing that he eventually lay down on the floor. It didn't matter that he could be getting dirty from any art supplies or paint that was on the floor - he was cool.

It would've probably been very cheesy to say Jake's big grin almost dazzled Eve but he couldn't describe the feeling better than that. The corners of Eve's mouth acted outside his will and answered Jake's grin with a smile. He also raised his brows slightly in surprise.
"I didn't know the full moon had such an effect."
Eve said as he lifted the easel he had put together and carried it to the side.

Eve chuckled as Jake sat down on the floor and then proceeded to lie all the way down.
"Do I know? I seem to have forgotten."
Eve said with a slight teasing tone and with a gentle smile. He walked over to the small couch pushed against the wall and sat down, observing Jake. Eve wanted to sketch him.
"Sometimes I wish I could feel heat like everyone else."
Eve said absently and pulled a sketchbook from under the couch. It was one of his old ones that was filled, but Eve found an empty page and idly started sketching Jake with the pen still stuck between the pages.

"Oh yeah. It makes my senses way better. It's like everything is in super HD," he explained. It wasn't just the day of the full moon he enjoyed. The nights that followed were also incredible to experience. As the spotlight of the moon shone down, he would be a wolf which felt like the most natural thing in the world. Jake loved to go out running with his pack during that day of the month. He loved doing it at any time but it was just more special under the full beam of the moon.

"Why? It sucks so much to be hot and sweaty. At least you are constantly at a pleasant temperature." It seemed like that trait would come in handy so often that he couldn't see why Eve would want to feel heat. As he thought about it, he heard the scratching of a pen against paper. Jake knew exactly what was happening - he was being drawn. His eyes darted towards Eve before leaping up and running over to him. "You better not be sketching me!" he yelled playfully as he pounced onto the oddly small sofa to see if his suspicions were correct. They were...

Eve himself wasn't sure why he wanted to feel the heat, and he shrugged a bit when Jake asked why.
"I'm not sure. I suppose I am just curious, I want to feel the world like you, like nearly everyone else does. I can see, smell, hear and taste it the same way. But I cannot feel it the same way. Sometimes it makes me feel slightly lonely, isolated."
Eve sighed a bit, small sad smile on his face.

As Eve felt and saw Jake's eyes dart on him a small smile rose to his face. Eve already had a little playful answer ready for Jake's obvious question but as Eve lifted his gaze to talk to Jake the boy suddenly sprang up and bolted to Eve. On the couch. Right next to him. And Eve was looking tight at his face.
Eve was momentarily stunned by Jake's sudden closeness and he could just open and close his mouth a couple of times. Then Eve pressed the sketchbook against his chest, in which his heart was suddenly pounding, and he blushed.
"I-I was-wasn't...I was sketching you. Forgive me. You and your energy today is somehow inspiring. I wanted to sketch you."
The words escaped Eve's mouth before he could stop them and his blush deepened a bit. But Eve, for some reason, couldn't lower his face. Eve's bright red pupils constricted a bit as he looked at Jake.

Squatting on the couch, Jake looked at Eve. His eyes were filled with such sadness. Eve very rarely showed it but Jake could tell, as though echoes of tragedy could be seen when his eyes met his. A sense of sympathy and empathy grew as he considered what Eve had said. Jake, too, felt isolated but for different reasons and he understood how hard it was to live that way. "Trust me, you're not missing out on much," he said in an attempt to console him.

He gave a smile. "I just feel weird having me on display for someone to see. It's weird, I know..." His gaze wandered down to the wall. Though he hated being drawn (and having his picture taken), there was something nice about the fact that Eve wanted to spend his own time and effort on him. It was a kind of warm feeling in his chest that made him feel weird. He wasn't sure whether he liked it or not but it was there when he was around Eve. Jake looked back up at Eve and the sketchbook with the drawing of him held against his chest. His eyes looked at Eve inquisitively, his brow furrowing slightly. He was confused. By himself. By the drawings. By Eve.
